Hmm. Wilford Brimley was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1979 and in several episodes he's shown eating things he's not supposed to - white bread, for instance. Unless, of course, he's not really doing so. However, in this episode it shows him eating a sandwich in the living room made with white bread and drinking beer - things diabetics are not supposed to do. Wonder if Wilford knew this at the time? Just curious about this.
Depictions of diabetes from the 80s and 90s are largely blown up to "You can NEVER have *insert long list* again!" I was diagnosed pre-diabetic in 2015. The modern advice is to take your oral meds and have whatever you want in moderation. Moderation is key. No, I can't eat a pound of candy, but I can have rolls with my steak or a meatball sub. I'd be curious to know how the meds/advice have changed in 20-30 years in reality versus the depiction in media.

Chad Allen was the only celebrity crush I ever had growing up. I was never really into famous guys. Out if my league, I guess. I liked real boys I actually stood a chance with...but Chad Allen was special back in the day.
