Thanks for the video. I have that exact reel and it’s been having that issue. Now I can fix it. Also have two of the older platinum combos that haven’t been used that I picked up at a yard sale. Gear ratio seems slower in the older reels. 🤔

Have really enjoyed your videos and have learned a lot from you . I recently found a old zebco 33 silver with black band with gold writing in the center . Could you tell me what year was made . It does say made in the USA on the bottom of the foot?

That describes many years Zebco put out the Zebco 33. If you join this facebook group you can access many of the older catalogs and find your exact model. My guess is it is one from the 80s or 90s. In 2000 Zebco's operation moved to China.

Do the newer closed faced reels require some tension to reel line like the old ones?

No. That only happens with old stiff line and when the cam on the pick up pins wear down from not being maintained.
