Aslik is the only Glukkons besides the Brewmaster ( It’s not fair, we had twice zee flavour ) that’s not voiced by Lorne Lanning, well in the cutscenes anyway. When you control a glukkon they have Lorne’s Voice doing the commands.
4:36 I always figured that the reason you find Aslik in the toilets is because it's meant to show he's an enormous coward deep down. Not only is he hiding behind the other two executives in that you have to go to Slig Barracks and Bonewerkz to disable the electricity to get to him, and that he has the highest personal security level in the army of sligs you have to get through to get to him, when you DO find him he's not in his office like the other two, but cowering in the toilet, hoping Abe won't find him.
FeeCo Depot is and will always be my favourite location 💛 There’s something absolutely captivating and atmospheric with the combination of old-style industrial look with all the girder structures, old square windows and Art-deco interiors. Every time you post a video like this I just get even more hyped for Soulstorm. The sound design in these games is a masterpiece. I haven't experienced games with such perfectly created and so well fitting atmosphere ever since.
Yeah, I think a big part of what creates so much of the atmosphere of Oddworld is the sound, it's so well made and unique. :) Plus, the visuals are so well designed, that's why I really like these games, they're just so well put together.
What I found really interesting about Feeco Depot that in a way it's almost like an Oddworld museum if all the doors we saw in Feeco were fully accessable that is since it contains a door that takes you to Rupturfarms and one that takes you to Vykkers Labs which I would be interested to know how Vykkers Labs wouls work 😆
I'm glad you mentioned the funky depot music because that's something I think has been lost form the new soulstorm game. The music for a lot of the levels is very similar if not the same.
I think the reason Abe casually walks onto the train instead of hanging from it implies how sparse or perhaps minimal the staff is in Feeco depot. No one seems to be manning or at least checking the inside of the train, because they're mainly used for transport of goods anyway. In exoddus there's a clip where the Sligs kind of oversee the railway, so he'd get caught if he did what he'd do in Soulstorm
Little note from an Italian. To joke on Mussolini, my father often uses the derogatory name "Mascellone" (big jaw), referring to how he used to protrude his chin to appear more authoritative and powerful (at least I think that was the intention, he really appeared ridiculous and showed only his conceit, but at the time evidently his bloated gasbag mannerism worked). Also, my father use to reply to the "Quando c'era lui, i treni arrivavano in orario" (When there was him, the trains ran on schedule) motto, now a joke citation, with "Sì, quando c'era lui sopra, forse" ("Yeah, when there was him on [a train, that one only ran on schedule], maybe).
Small note about why a lot of that fine craftsmanship that was lost is likely due to the deathtoll of the world wars. Many artisans never came home, and the demand was high enough that companies began to pull back on it for more uniform and easier for lower skilled employees to make.
Honestly I love the design of these trains, its a shame there isn't more fictional content for train simulator because the railways of oddworld would be top of my list.
Feeco as in Fecal Depot? Interesting, I always thought it implied that the company is entirely successful because they charge their clients through the ass with fees. Like "Fee Company"
