There’s a story to this song. In June, 2000, tragedy struck when Pearl Jam played at the Roskilde festival in Denmark. During their set, nine people were crushed and killed when the crowd began surging forward. The band, understandably, was absolutely devastated by the event. They seriously considered quitting entirely. They struggled to move forward. But they did. And, apparently, Eddie Vedder wrote this song the night before their first performance after Roskilde. It was a reassurance, to themselves, that everything would be okay. Beautiful, meaningful lyrics.
I really love your way of feeling Pearl Jam’s music. I agree, lyrics are 100 % poethic. My english is not native, so sorry for maybe not expressing myself as I wish to. I recommend you PJ’s cover Love, Reign O’er Me (by The Who). It is AN extraordinary experience. Thanks and peace.
Fantastic reaction to an incredible song, I've always loved the lyrics to this one too. I'm off to binge watch the rest of your Pearl Jam reactions! :)
SUGGESTION, PEARL JAM "LOVE BOAT CAPTAIN" SAME SET. IT'S ABOUT THE 9 FANS THAT DIED WHILE PEARL JAM WAS PERFORMING, EDDIE EVEN MENTIONED IN THE SONG. IT HAPPEN JUNE 30TH 2000 AT ROSKLIDE. IT DEVASTATING TO PEARL JAM, THEY ALMOST CALLED IT QUITS BUT THE BAND THE WHO ENCOURAGED THEM TO KEEP GOING. IT ALSO HAPPEN TO THE WHO WHERE FANS DIED. OR VH1 DID A TRIBUTE TO THE WHO AND PEARL JAM PERFORMED REIGN O'VER ME AND THE REAL ME IT'S INCREDIBLE!! PEARL JAM NEVER DISAPPOINTS. MY FAVORITE BAND ON THIS CRAZY PLANET!! SORRY ABOUT THE ALL CAPS I CAN'T SEE VERY WELL SO I APOLOGIZE. AWESOME REACTION DEAR! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
Great reaction and new subscriber big PJ fan here. Next you should react to IGot ID/I Got Shit. A deep cut with uncle neil (young) on guitar. Great song with great lyrics as always by Ed.
