This was SO helpful! I've just started crocheting and I'm so glad I found this tutorial. Lots of good advice, especially about doing it in small bites. I've been trying to understand the whole chart, which is really overwhelming. Thank you!
I have been looking at videos and websites for two days trying to get a better understanding of how to read crochet patterns. I can tell you this is by far the best explanation out there!!! Thank you so much Edie!!!!
I would have liked you to crochet along whilst reading the pattern, it would have helped me to understand the pattern and the terminology for future projects that I might try. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Still doesn’t explain what kind of yarn I need. How to do I translate the tiny thin baby yarn I know I will need by the words gauge 11sts=2” stock st? The labels on yarn give square 4x4 gauges.
