This was SO helpful! I've just started crocheting and I'm so glad I found this tutorial. Lots of good advice, especially about doing it in small bites. I've been trying to understand the whole chart, which is really overwhelming. Thank you!

Still doesn’t explain what kind of yarn I need. How to do I translate the tiny thin baby yarn I know I will need by the words gauge 11sts=2” stock st? The labels on yarn give square 4x4 gauges.
