This recording is a demo for the song that he was planning on recording with his band. It is so haunting knowing what happened to him. It is a love letter for his wife, Lorrie Morgan. He must have felt that something was going to happen to him.
He did this in their living room to be played at their wedding I think. Not sure if he was planning on releasing it, but his wife was able to take the recordings and create a professional duet that won them Grammys after he passed.

Asia and BJ- Lori Morgan was Keith Whitleys wife and she also has been a country singer for a long time. Thanks for reacting to this one. It has to be about her. This is the first time hearing this one for me. BJ was correct that Keith died way to soon due to alcoholism. H was only 34 when he passed away.
Some people feel like this was a suicide note. Some people thing he couldn't fight his demons anymore and drank himself to death. I loved Keith Whitley. This was a recording he did himself. There is a video of Keith and Lorries son singing this song.

Keith Whitley got me through some rough break ups. Crazy how music can do that but I'm pretty sure i almost joined him a few times. But I overcome that and am happily married now and still live those old memories when i hear those songs. Love the channel and enjoy your reactions more than most.

Such a sad song, he loved Lori Morgan so much, but he suffered from alcoholism...... She would actually tie him to the bed to try to keep him from drinking. He wrote this song on an RCA recorder at his house shortly before he passed away. So sad, so beautiful. You can hear it in his voice. 😢

Keith was in a popular bluegrass band and traveling with them at like..age 15. He got into alcohol at a young age and alcohol is such a hard thing to kick because it's just so easy to buy and everyone's drinking and you're playing in bars and touring. It's really tough and you never expect it to take you out like the hard drugs. The only guy who can really cover Keith Whitley songs is Daryl Singeltary. He also died too soon, but from a heart attack. He was pretty similar as well. You really gotta check that guy out.

What do you mean breakup!! Lorrie was on a promotional tour for her new album. They never broke up. They loved each other. She wanted to stay home with Keith!! You should watch Keiths story, and then Lorrie Morgan's!!

@@Uriahjw Lorrie would've never leave Keith!! She used to tie a string from her leg to Keiths at bed time, so if He got up to go get a drink it would wake her up. His doctor told him not to drink that it would kill him. Lorrie was Keiths rock,and strength. Loosing Keith was heart breaking!!

He was doing good, she went on tour and did not want to go, her career was taking off. He started drinking and has not drunk in a long time and got alcohol poisoning and died. His Mother spoke with his one morning and I think he was die the next day( not sure)

Yea it is crazy he recorded this in his home in 89 then a few months later his brother in law found him unresponsive after he went on a wild drinking binge and doing coke he found him in his Nashville home in his bed fully dressed and dead and he was pronounced dead may 9th 1989 he died from alcohol overdose and it’s his wife
