Thank you so much for this ! This is the current problem I am having. I have a photo from 1931 that is significantly damaged and very faded with little image information. I thought about trying to bring back the detail through channels but i'm not sure I know what Im doing exactly to then recapture and detail that information. Can you help?

I suppose it's not possible to make the faded faces come to life, is it? I have several family pictures taken when cameras were not very good. You can't see people's eyes and the faces look like bees attacked the skin!
