ABOUT ME
I'm Cambodian and Chinese.
I was born in November of 1983 and raised in Houston, although my heart lays in between Houston and Hawaii.
"OG KPOP STAN": I've always used the term "OG" (supposedly "original gangster") to define being old-school, and I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Kpop was my coping mechanism from the bullying I experienced in my younger years and it's just stuck by me ever since. Also! Just to be clear: me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" doesn't mean that anyone who's listened to kpop later than me is inferior. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time.😄
I was a hiphop dancer for about 7 years. I did the whole crew thing, auditioning thing, competition thing, choreography thing, dance instructor thing, so I have some experience in that field and I hope to be able to share some perspective from my experiences for y'all to see the extra things that I appreciate about a video when I point them out.
My videos can have quite a lot of cuts in editing and/or my eyes will unnaturally blink rapidly sometimes. This is because of my neurological disease that came with my lupus nephritis (posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome). My thinking abilities and speaking abilities struggle to align at times.

This is the song that got me into Chung Ha. It took me a bit of time thinking about it but I figured out why she seemed so familiar to me after seeing her the first time. I basically see her as BoA ver 2.0. She's got all the same dancing talent, a similar vocal sound, and charisma, but for this newer generation of fans.
She is a literal goddess queen and what not. She is fierce, cute , talented , beautiful and I could go on lol. I love her. And u should definitely check her other mvs as well

You should watch her PLAY MV and Dance Practice!!! She's so versatile, although that song is different from her songs, you can tell that the choreo is made for her. The whole choreography is "chungha-fied" with lots of dance genres and its looks so festive and beautiful ❤❤❤❤

Thina, are you familiar with the recently aired "Running Girls"? It was a 4-episode arch that followed Chungha, Sunmi, Ahn Hani, Oh My Girl's Yooa, and LOONA's Chuu.... aka a super star-studded dream team of amazing women. It is a really healing, feelgood type of slow show that allowed the 5 women to be introspective and find deep connection and advice from each other. It's very heartwarming, I feel like it might be something you might casually enjoy :-)
The fact that it's "just" a performance video, not a pre-release or comeback (not bringing anyone down, just wanted to point out that it got way less funding than her other stuff) and ended up a one of my favorite Chung Ha releases. The song and styling are perfect and just her presence is more than enough to make a great video...
I read that she didn't even plan to make this. This was supposed to be "just" a b-side, but then 88rising pushed for it (i'm so happy they did) and she had 2-3 days to prepare it. Can't wait to see what she does it the future.

Chunga's Moves...Are so reminiscent of the Way Michael Jackson danced...In each of her M/V's, she creates movements that become instantly Iconic. So Original..Her Performance makes the viewer have an Emotional Response.. She succeeds every time..She did a Freestyle Dance to Beyonce in Produce 101 (Unrehearsed) that left the Audience gasping..

I really love your commentary about BoA because that's EXACTLY how I feel about ChungHa; BoA is the one who got me into KPop back in 2002 and til she came along in Produce I loved most of solists but that extra sauce was always missing.

In the behind the scenes she said that they have to hold their breaths while doing a whole set of move (for like 15/20 seconds). That's some queen $hit. Doing apnea on stage.

I would suggest you check out the fairly new show Running Girls starring Sunmi, Chung Ha, Chuu (from Loona), Hani (from EXID) and YooA (from Oh My Girl) where they take kind of a vacation together (in fact Chung Ha and Sunmi are kind of close friends for a few years), they get very emotional with each other and give a good perspective of their personalities.
Also I hope you check out Play by Chung Ha and definetely the Dance Practice, one of the most fun ones out there

Love this song. I never really paid much attention to her before but if she continues like this then she's got me. Also nice to see Dreamcatcher's influence spreading through Kpop. More and more I'm seeing things that make me say hey Dreamcatcher did that first.

Great reaction, speaking of solo artists, you seemed like Alexa when you watched Revolution, what happened there? If you want a suggestion, her debut Bomb was great and she did a great dance cover of Eclipse by Moonbyul from Mamamoo. As for more Chung Ha I echo you should check out Play.

Chungha's just on another level, I swear. Every video of hers is so good, and the choreography is always unreal. I'm never not impressed by her.
Suggestion: Moonbyul - Eclipse. (MV w/subs: th-cam.com/video/oCTqcTe1lIA/w-d-xo.html. Choreography/Dancer Change Version: th-cam.com/video/WJpRV1HG87w/w-d-xo.html ) This song and choreography is more along the lines of what you'd expect from a boy group. I thought you might be interested. (I linked a choreography version bc you can't see the choreo well in the original MV. I like the camera angel in this one the most.)
Moonbyul's purpose in performing it is to show everyone that gendered music/performance styles don't/shouldn't exist. Women can also perform the same concepts. While some of her other music is more in line with her personal taste (like Absence), I feel like Eclipse was very strong with its message. Unfortunately, covid restrictions hit around the time she was promoting, so it got a little bit lost in the mess. :( I still consider it a great 2020 release, especially for other women who may want to try that style someday.
