+Capt. Colonel Koala Hilarious idea. However, if his clothes are just an ectoplasmic emanation created by his spirit, then in a sense he always is naked (as when Rebecca Romijn-Stamos was walking around the set between takes of an X-Men movie in her Mystique makeup, saying, "But it's not like I'm actually naked" and her castmates were all saying, "Becca, you're naked -- go with it." Whether she was referring to her own state on stage, or the nature of her character (who created whatever clothing she needed as part of her appearance-changing), in either case Rebecca (or Raven) was indeed naked. In the latter case, Mystique is *always* naked....
One of my favorite villains. His politeness while going on a crime scheme just cracks me up. I feel the humorous vibes may be unintentional, but when writing about the hospitality of the guards while he stole diamonds from superman, it's hard not to laugh at him. I also enjoy his sleek white design. It's simple, yet cool.
Cameron Wright Especially since there are ACTUAL ghosts in D.C., I think it's way more interesting when a character meets the Gentleman Ghost and questions their beliefs.
+Brendon Dellinger Seems more interesting to leave it ambiguous. Everything in comics today is explained to death. Growing up I remember when Woleverine's origins was a huge source of mystery and only little hints and easter eggs to speculate on. Now, the whole Weapon X thing has been strip-mined and guys with healing factors are commonplace.
I was walking into a restaurant and Gentlemen Ghost was behind me. I held the door open for him, but he didn't even say "Thank you"! He is anything but a gentleman...
I personally preferred the origin where Nighthawk (1800's Hawkman) lynched Jim Craddock because he thought he had assaulted Cinnamon (1800's Hawkgirl), as it gives Gentleman Ghost more of a reason to hate Hawkman. It also doesn't exactly help that his spirit can only pass on when his killer's does, considering his killer is constantly being reincarnated.
you forgot the part where these are the "Comic book" origins of these characters, animated origins only ever got used if they were the original source of the characters origin like Harley Quinn and the revised Mr Freeze
so, wait, the GOLDEN AGE Hawkman doesn't believe in ghosts? You know, the constantly reincarnated spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, destined to always fall in love with the same person and be killed by Savage? I can understand the Thanagarian Hawkman not believing in ghosts, but seriously?!
+David Spring Think you are mixing the "DC legends of Tomorrow" "Hawkamn" origin with his original origin. Its wasn't savage who killed him it was "Hath-Set."

ManiacX1999 OK I guess you like that character but, think about it he is an obscure character that was created in 2007 that hasn't been portrayed in any other form of media. The real question is where are all of the villains from the Arrow and Flash tv shows.
Robert Howtryer Half of watchmojo's villain origin videos are obscure, and you say that like Everyone has heard of the Gentleman Ghost. Professor Pyg was in Arkham Knight, two TV shows (Gotham and Beware the Batman), and faced off against Damien Wayne, Batman's son. How can you say Professor Pyg is obscure and not this "Gentleman Ghost"? A tad bit hypocritical, no?
I like the new origin story in Batman Caped Crusader. During the Revolution, he was a loyalist nobleman who hated the poor, gambled away his health, and became an anti-Robin Hood.
+Andrew Labelle Unlikely Waller would have no real way of keeping him (hes already dead so she cant threaten him with that) He would be far better suited for a solo "Hawkman" movie think about it right now a humanoid alien with wings (if we are following his more preferred origin) versus a ghost with a British accent.
Iremember him from Super Friends...he actualy scared me in that show...unstoppable, stealing into peoples homs and turning them to ghosts...scared my 8 year old self
Does he make a great Batman villain? I mean, he shows a couple of times in his comics and The Brave and the Bold. Plus, Batman doesn't have many supernatural villains other than Gundy and maybe Klarion the Witch Boy.
I was curios if comic books used ghosts as a villain or hero. now I know, I had though that they had just missed out on the whole ghost villain/hero thing.
One of his origins bound him more firmly to his nemesis Hawkman, returning from the grave to fulfill his death curse on the perpetually reincarnating hero and thus permanently lurking just beyond the veil until destroying his foe, which for me remains his canon even though he's fought more than Hawkman of late, having faced off against the Super-Friends and Batman in his time. Heroes come and go, but a good villain is eternal
I like that vilain because he is a ghost and i am a big fan in horror and spooky in general,i also hope in injustice 2 to bring him as a character on the game if they made a sequel for that fighting.
I tend to remember another of his origin stories, from "weird western tales" in 1978, most of his origin storys don't talk about his supernatural powers and why he is a ghost prior to the 2000's except this one. In this story Craddock is cused and told that his soul will not pass from this world untill his killer's does, he thinks nothing of this and journeys to America where he assaults a girl named Cinnamon. When word of this gets out a gunslinger named Nighthawk hunts Craddock down and hangs him. Later on it's revealed that Cinnamon and Nighthawk are latest incarnations of Chay-ara and Prince Khufu thus sealing Craddocks fate to be the Gentleman Ghost forever, and why he fights them so frequently.
I'm more baffled by the few times you actually see gentleman ghost's physical form, and where did this "nth metal" surface from? Any other comic buffs out there?
I've always wondered who were some of the main villains that Hawkman was able to fight in his comics, and I think this video provided me with an answer to my question. ;)
Imagine a show about Hawk Woman and Hawk Man. In this story the first season they arrive in Egypt face an adversary & they die even though they save everyone. The last episode has HW waking up as a human in a different century reincarnated & her memory returned. The same appearance before she died.. A week later she grows her wings & gets her strength. She finds Hawk man the same way. They end up dying again eventually. Meeting different villains through each of their journeys. Gentlemen Ghost being one. Before & after he died. Great pitch to think about Js. Especially if you know their story
Gentlemen Ghost is cool. One of my favourite villains from batman brave and the bold. He would be a great villain for the justice league dark to fight against in the new 52 comics but oh well. Cool villain at least.
In an episode of Batman the Brave and the Bold volume 4 called Trails of the Demon, the Gentlemen Ghost was given another origin in which Batman traveled back in time to meet Sherlock Holmes in the fight to get Jim Craddock when he was still alive, Jim was stealing souls to strike a deal with Asteroth, a demon from the underworld in return for immortality, Batman and a good demon, Etrigan, tried to stop him from taking the souls in the process of fighting Asteroth, either Jim was killed or later on was hung as it wasn't made clear in the episode.
He also made an appearance on the old late 70s SuperFriends cartoon as Gentleman Jim Craddock instead of the Gentleman ghost, where he was a ghost and also had the power to turn others into spectral slaves (which he did to members of the UN as well as Superman and Wonder Woman).
I honestly wish he'd get more recognition. I loved him in brave and the bold. Also, he just seems so badass.
I honestly forgot that show exist. More I watch to watch it.
Any sources to watch this?

John Burt hey if I could shape shift I would go around naked 2
+Capt. Colonel Koala Usually, he can vanish at will, so no need to shed clothing in order to be stealthy.

Brendon Dellinger I guess so
British accent + top hat + dapper attire + use of evil magic = excellent villain.
I was walking into a restaurant and Gentlemen Ghost was behind me. I held the door open for him, but he didn't even say "Thank you"! He is anything but a gentleman...
This deserves waaay more likes 😂😂😂💀
He's a main villain in the Batman Brave and the Bold vidoegame.

I always liked the Gentleman Ghost. Visually he's very different from almost every hero or villain in comics.
He was my favorite villain from Brave and the Bold
Mine too
Then I’m sure you enjoyed the episode with Etrigan, since Craddock was the main antagonist of the episode
It's strange that you show so many clips from Brave and the Bold, but you don't mention the origin story supplied by that same show.

I love this underrated DC villain but I actually like the origin when Craddock was a bandit (the second origin).
his origin in Batman Brave and the Bold is the best, keeps him a ghost and keeps it simple, he toyed with demons and was cursed with undeath

I have a 80s Detective comic with Gentlemen Jim.
He also made an appearance on the old late 70s SuperFriends cartoon as Gentleman Jim Craddock instead of the Gentleman ghost, where he was a ghost and also had the power to turn others into spectral slaves (which he did to members of the UN as well as Superman and Wonder Woman).
