  • Rez Infinite has received a PSVR 2 upgrade promising even more synethesia in VR thanks to improved clarity, HDR support & haptics but is that enough to justify yet another purchase for this game?

    just FYI the game does have difficulty modes but they're kind of goofily named as game modes in the options or something (where the "dynamic mode" is). the default setting is pretty easy but the other is a throwback to the classic 2D gameplay and has denser patterns etc
    also if you clear 98% of stage enemies you face tougher bosses in each stage
    i get that you didn't like it so much but at least with this info in mind you can get a little more out of your purchase 🙏🏼

    I think the trick to this game is getting into a flow. I hated it the first time I played back on the Dreamcast. I tried it again on VR, and still didn't like it...until I kind of picked up on the synethesia thing. If you move twitchy to kill things like a normal game it'll fell weird, but if you can control the game like your some kind of smooth ninja, you'll get the feel

    If you played VR while stoned you'd understand why people like this so much😅 but yeah, area x is definitely the best part of the game

      Eh, when you're sober, it's an okay experience. It's just a 14 minute experience that kinda foreshadowed how much they used particle effects in Tetris Effect. But, Rez is the best part of Rez Infinite, despite it just being a remaster of a Dreamcast game

  • @AutumnRivers
    @AutumnRivers ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've played both Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite in VR. I've always seen Rez as a kind of novelty for VR, rather than being built around it. And I mean, that's nice and all, but not when you keep rereleasing it. Tetris Effect feels much more natural for VR, despite the fact it's just Tetris.
    I agree they should make a sequel in the style of Area X, but what would be even better is a VR-exclusive mode where you're being attacked from all sides. Put that spatial audio to good use, and give me a heart attack as I hear a swarm of enemies behind me!

    I always thought Rez was an ok but not great game but I really loved the sorta sequel Child of Eden which I found far more visually pleasing. I remember playing it in stereo 3D on PS3 with the same move controllers I still use for my PSVR1 and it was an awesome experience. I'd definitely pay for a proper VR version.

    Nice review. A note though: you need to speak slower or clearer, one of the two. I understood you, but it wasn't fun to listen to ^^ (as a professionally trained voice over artist I tend to give unsolicited advice on it, take it or leave it 😄)

    Even area X sounds like something from Tetris Effect. They need to do a sequel based on that style.

    Paying $9.99 for the upgrade is nice , especially when I got the psvr version for dirt cheap back in the day....thumper is also around $5 and that is nice , cheap 2 games for psvr2 I must say.

  • @GreyMatterShades
    @GreyMatterShades ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I enjoyed Rez back in the day, as its style was much more unique when it launched. Since then there have been a lot of other games to take on similar abstract art styles and arguably do them better. Playing through it in VR on PSVR 1 was cool to experience, but the core game was already starting to feel pretty dated.
    Arera X was pretty amazing already on PSVR 1, and I'm sure it's even more impressive on PSVR 2, but I don't think I can justify even the $10 upgrade fee just for that. It's a shame they didn't expand Area X or add a new level. As it stands I'll probably pass unless the upgrade fee goes on sale...
