That opening riff is one of the hardest I've ever tried to learn. Key word here is "tried".

@@VintageRadius -- Hahaha! I lived across the street from a kid that could never get the opening riff down on a bass. 4 different notes, screwed up every single time. My gf came inside from planting flowers one day and told me, "If you don't go show him how to do that right I'm going to kill both of you." We lived there 2 years and he never figured it out. I'm thinking now it was this angry taco kid.

The main riff is very very close to the studio version by Mr. Knopffler, you did a great job man. Nobody has his fingers, but your version is extremely well arranged and pays an excellent tribute to this iconic Dire Straits song.
Yeah he did a nice job. Not only that but Mark doubled his guitar track in the studio, each track was slightly different. You can hear the differences on an isolated track. v=9dVTvLgDqto

Mark Knopfler has huge hands and long fingers. I've seen videos of him reaching 3 frets with his ring finger.

The essential riff every beginner guitarist needs to learn this one and a few others I can’t think of right now. Mark Knopfler is a genius.

Sounds great and saying it's all pentatonic doesn't take away from how great and good that solo is. Not everything has to be sweep picking nonsense

The intro main riff + the guitar tone + the reverb + fingerstyle= it sounds very close to the original one. WELL DONE !
Thought it was gonna be a note for note cover, with that backing track and perfectly matched tone. Then he Solo's like a boss. Mark should be proud.

This deserves more views. Best cover of the best riff I've ever heard.
The part where you immitate the vocals "I want my MTV was an especially nice touch. Really well done. Nice variety of the basic intro. Harmonics were perfect. Not an easy song to perfect and then take to the next level with improvisation that's in character.
