hope it was worth it Sanlida... From a new archery enthusiast entering the world of the sport this is a terrible introduction to your company and your name.
Seriously! Another newbie here, hopefully with many years of fun ahead of me. What does that mean? It means I will need to buy equipment. I buy Chinese products, but I sure won't be buying Sanlida.
I just picked up a WNS Quantum today. Its my first bow and its a mid range riser at $500 CAD but it is super smooth compaired to the few that i have shot and quite beautiful in the abyss blue colour.
I've seen very positive reviews of Sanlida products by other TH-camrs, but after hearing of this, wouldn't even consider them. I've always been a "buy American" kind of guy anyway, so this just cements that position. You're a class-act Jake, thank you for all you do!
I don’t feel like one of their major sponsors should be conducting themselves in such a way. It’s lucky, my friend and I were wondering if we try out compound 3D archery and were considering the sanlida equipment. I’m happy we saw this first
Good for you, Jake. I’ve passed this on to the college students that I coach who are looking to purchase their own equipment. Also, I have used some of the info in your videos as I instruct my NASP kids, even though we use a compound. Thanks for your integrity, much appreciated.
Hi Jake. Having shot recurve competitively as a junior (and did very well) I am now shooting again, for recreation, after many years away from the sport. I so wish I had kept at it back then. Anyway, I've watched a lot of your videos, all of which have helped enormously in bringing me back into the fold. The kit has technically advanced, but the shooting principals seem much the same. It is such a shame to see this video and I can understand how annoying it must be to have your achievements abused in this manner. I really hope it will come to an end and you can move on, please don't let it tarnish a great career in this magnificent sport. Thank you for your help here on YT, very much appreciated. Cheers, Chris
I am a new archer enthusiast and starting to shop for my first bow but after watching this I will totally boycotting Sanlida. Hate their dishonest business model. Thank you for all you do Jake.
There's many reasons why I subscribe to your channel Jake and this video exemplifies it all. Good on you. You definitely should consider legal action as well but as the HQ is in China it's going to be very difficult and expensive because they probably have government support.
I really like my X8 recurve. Spot on 40# at 28. Their management probably has a bad seed or two but the products are pretty good. I don’t think they should use your vids for advertising without your permission at all ! Keep up the good work so we can all get better at archery.
I'm new to archery and only recently bought my first bow, and yes a Sanlida. Now I feel a bit sick. Thank you for bringing this to light. Terrible you were treated in this manner. I am going to let the company here in Sydney where I bought my bow know about this.
I'm right there with you. I bought a Sanlida bow as my first. I've had it for a couple of weeks, and I've done nothing but talk it up and talk up Sanlida. I love the bow, and I wanted to buy more stuff from them, but then today, I found this video, and ironically enough, it's on the same day someone from Sanlida messaged me on social media asking if I would provide photos for them to post.
I applaud your integrity.. At the end of the day, good or bad, if you cant hold yourself responsible for you and you alone, then your have nothing to fall back on.. People will always trust you, or more to the point gain your trust based on your transparency and past experiences with you.. That is a value you really must hold onto.. If you sell yourself down the river, then theres no going back.. Its tempting im sure, you get lots of offers for sponsorship and likness in adds, but if that product or whatever goes the wrong way, then your tied up with it, tarnishing your name and reputation.. You cant get that back..
I wonder if there is any legal issues you could go after them with. I would contact a lawyer and get their input. I was honestly looking at the Sanlida Hermit X10 after watching Instictive Addiction Archery but after your video I will be getting a 3RiversArchery The Cairn recurve now.
As a former archer in olympic recurve, I was also curious and I almost got into buying one of the kits. Now seeing this video and learning they benefit from lies, it is definitely shameful of them to do so. Albeit, the kit seemed really promising for me to pick up shooting again after 15 year pause from archery. Now I need to reconsider and perhaps find and set up some other kit with good budget, as 1000 seems to be just fine for restarting. Thanks for this video, Jake!
Hi Jake, I am a beginner archer and my coach has me doing an exercise to strengthen my shoulders where I take a resistance band and I hold it at the back of my head and I am pulling as if I am going to shoot. If you know that type of exercise, can you do a video using a resistance band on how to do the exercise properly please? Thank you
I would take this up with the World Archery Association itself to rip any potential sponsorships/partnerships they can have in the future. So sorry this is happening, you're taking all the right steps you can Jake
Thanks for the info. I noticed your Lancaster hat. I might have missed it, but are they one of your sponsors or do you just like the company? Was your choice to support one company while denouncing another intentional?
I have an affiliate arrangement with them, I was sent a hat and shirts. I like the hat and wear hats. I have zero sponsors and intend to continue to have zero sponsors. Lancaster is a distributor and wholesaler and are knowledgeable so when a viewer is looking for a place to buy gear that will come from a supplier who has a robust warranty and actually knowledgeable customer service & technical experts, I have a place to recommend them to.
@@JakeKaminskiArchery I've had fantastic luck with Lancaster, so I am glad to hear it sounds like your experience is similar. I was just curious about your choice. Thanks for the reply!
I have learned a lot from your channel and appreciate your unbiased content. I will be joining the Sanlida boycott and will discuss this with my archery friends.
When asking how such behavior should be judged, one must not forget which code of conduct a manufacturer is aiming for. These companies do not sell their products on the basis of trust that has been built up over many years, sometimes generations, with the buyer. These companies sell purely on price. Many Americans do not buy their products because they are not made in America. The archery market in the USA is predominantly characterized by hunting and 3D shooting with compound Bows. It is not difficult to rely on American products here. Firstly, nowhere else in the world are the products of American companies cheaper than in the United States, and secondly, virtually all the major manufacturers in this sector are based here. In order to get into this almost shielded market, you have to be pretty aggressive. That's what we see with companies like Sanlida. If you leave the USA out of the equation and look at the rest of the world, things look very different. Made in usa has no meaning for us foreigners, except that we have to pay exorbitant prices for these products. By buying these products, we are not supporting domestic companies and thereby safeguarding jobs at home. What good is good customer service from BEAR, for example, if I have to wait 6 months for a replacement part? That's why outside the USA only bang for the buck counts. Little by little, the products of these chinese manufacturers are becoming higher quality and more expensive, and when the Chinese realize that all they really need is customer service and the supply of spare parts, things will get tight for all renowned manufacturers worldwide. An Australian TH-cam channel has just reported on a young talent who won the last championship with a T-Bow Riser and the cheapest Kinetic Carbon limbs (over here about 99 €, equivalent to around 107 $). Obviously you don't need a 2000 $ Hoyt Riser and Limbs with a 500 dollar Excel sight for that. The problem is partly homemade. We in Europe do not have a system, where the manufacturer can prohibit the dealer from selling his bows online. We can order any Matthews, Hoyt, PSE, Bowtech, Elite, Bear or Darton bow online. In such a market environment, price is the decisive argument. The system in the USA, on the other hand, is completely deadlocked. The manufacturers earn their money with hunting bows, but use expensive pro shooters to promote their products, who then win the tournaments and prize money with target bows, which can only be organized in the first place thanks to the manufacturers' sponsorship. This system is expensive and is at least partly responsible for the high sales prices that open the door to low-cost manufacturers. Modern bows are manufactured worldwide on CNC milling machines. Does a working hour on such a machine in the USA really cost several times as much as a machine in China? How many man-hours does it take to manufacture a bow, for example at Hoyt? The aluminum raw material used for most bows is 6061 aluminum. Is this material so much more expensive in the USA than in China? Why does a mid-range bow from American manufacturers now cost more than a trustworthy hunting rifle from Remington, Ruger, Winchester or Savage, including a scope from Burris, Redfield, Bushnell or Leupold? You can buy that for 800 dollars. I'm not talking about the cheapest rifles here, but the tried and tested quality like Remington 700, Savage 110 etc. At Lancaster you can get the cheapest hunting bow from Mathews, the Prima for $999. Bows in the upper middle class and beginning upper class, like a Hoyt Torrex XT is available for 899 $. A Bear Execute from 999 $, a Bowtech CP30 for 1199 $, a Darton Prelude for 999 $, Elite Onmia 1249 $. For this you get a milled aluminium part with a few holes and threads and a few small parts that are anodized or painted. For hunting, however, you still need at least a release, arrows, broadheads, sights and an arrow rest. If you buy these parts in medium quality you can add at least another 500 - 600 $. With a hunting rifle, two boxes of ammunition are enough to get you started. Am I the only one who thinks that the ratio is no longer right? Is a hunting rifle and scope produced with less effort than a compound bow? It's even worse with recurve bows. How many hours does Hoyt spend on a Formula Riser that it costs $849 in the end? You can get milled risers in a similar shape from other brand manufacturers for as little as $300 - $350. it can't be, because of the particularly complicated shape. As far as I could find out, Hoyt uses 6061-T6 aluminum. This is also what the decent risers from Sanlida, Topoint, Kinetic, Akusta, Sebastien Flute, EXE, MK Korea, Fivics and Nishikawa are made of. So the expensive material is also not the reason. Perhaps you simply pay the extra price for the name.......
yup! and what people do not understand - amateurs and beginners are the majority, who want cheap and accessible bows, who make archery range run, pay the coaches etc. they are like 90% of the shooting population. They create the demand, make archery shop run etc, and to increase those numbers you need accessible entry level bows and not some braindead items for 500$. A stable and shooting bow for 200$ is perfect start and it allows people to try archery. If they are hooked on, they will probably invest in more fancy bow later on. Sanlida is here in its neach
I have see the screen grab earlier, and after I refresh the page back from the manual, it's gone from the product page. Guess they just updated right after I saw that. But you are still in the product manual anyway

I’m really shocked….. I just bought a hermit X10 which I love, now I’ve got a bad taste in my mouth. One of the Managers @ Sanlida (honestly) went above & beyond helping me with product, delivery & correspondence. The fish rots from the head down. I would like to believe he is ashamed of what has happened above his pay grade. I will be sending him an email with a link of this video pretty much asking WTF ? By the way Jake, just discovered you from this vid. Keen to watch more of your stuff now. Your followers genuinely seem to respect your integrity & that’s all I need to know. G’day from Gods Country Downunder😁👍🏼🇦🇺. (subscribed)
Now I know why that video I saw earlier disappeared. Too bad Sanlida lacked judgement and ethics. I don't know if they realize that by using someone's image without permission they can be sued. I bought a bow based on that review and later discovered that because of the riser's designed, the draw weight cannot be adjusted at all. While the tiller bolt can be backed off, the edge of the riser pocket prevents the limb from pivoting as it should to reduce the draw weight. The design flaw looks like a mistake because of the lack of any adjustment other than a small one to create the necessary difference of tiller between the upper and lower limb. Otherwise it performs well enough for an archer new to Olympic-style shooting. But I'm planning to get a different riser so I can make draw adjustments as needed.
Thanks for the heads up. I was considering a sanlida for my first recurve but ended up going with a bear paw. Def wont be doing any business with sanlida.
Was considering buying a recurve hunting bow, but 1) because its a Chinese company who steal all the time as part of their business plan, and 2) because of what you just revealed, I am confident of my decision not to purchase their products. Will look to buy American. Thanks for the info.
Interesting. So I ended up buying one of their longbow based of a TH-cam review, and was looking to buy a few for our club. They didn't have the poundage we wanted in stock, and when I enquired about it, after giving me a rough date they offered me a 20% discount if I took some pictures of our club members using the bows and shared them on Facebook . It seemed really weird and I declined. Now seeing this I'm very glad I didn't. I don't particularly want club members pics spread across the Internet attached to podict sales.

@@outdoorsman9384 Any recommendations? I know Bear archery still makes some affordable US made bows, but I'm guessing you're talking about custom makers.
@Aerzon1v1 check with Dick Robertson, Black Widow, Northern Mist, Big Jimms, Thinking the bow I would buy if I couldn't afford top of the line price, is three rivers Oberon long bow, the thing is a piece of work for 400, you would be proud of it , it would make you dedicate more time too it, because it's a piece of art and you woul be proud of it, wich means alot too the come back and shoot factor and love of traditional and sometimes cutting the cost isn't an option for greatness, but in this case the Oberon looks like a 2000 dollar bow and performs as well. Check into some of these boys call them and describe your situation and I'm sure someone can help you👊
Good for you, Jake! You have integrity.
They should be held accountable. Shameful actions on their part. Thanks for blowing the whistle on them!
I really don't like one of my favorite youtube guys getting hosed. Respect your integrity and that's why I'm here. Also because I've learned a whole bunch here.
sry bout ya luck, just ordered 4 more sanlida royal x8 recurves,,love em
You are totally right in protecting your image. I bought a bow from them, I'm satisfy with the quality, but their business practice are concerning.
Agreed, I shoot their x10 miracle recurve. I like it, cheap yet solid stuff, but I guess Chinese will be Chinese no matter what. IP? What is IP, excuse me, I don't hear you?!?!
@@Levon_RnD Yes I used to develop games about 10 years ago, none of my game was actually popular except for one that was stolen an distribute in China without my permission of course. Intelectual propriety mean nothing in China.
I have this same thing going on with Lightning Archery using my videos to promote their products on Amazon. None of them are linked to my channel. Total Copyright infringement and an ongoing issue.
Disgraceful. I was back and fourth on the limbs for my next purchase.
This is the reason why products from overseas have given so many people pause.
I'll stick with my current brand and setup
Thanks Jake
Great information, Jake. Thank you for sharing that and for all you do!
What’s their motivation? It would be so easy to link it to ur source. Moreover - contact for collaboration
thanks for answering my question about the tiller bolts bro, ordered them right after you replied. can't wait for them to arrive, sorry for the bother
Well done Jake ! These companies think that they are untouchable….
Sanlida have really shot themselves in the foot by pirating your images.
I really do appreciate your honesty when reviewing products.
An honest opinion is very important to me.
Keep up the good work Jake 👍
hope it was worth it Sanlida...
I'll not be buying from them. Sad day. Wanted affordable long bow. Don't know what to buy now. Have to save money. 150$ won't get a good one
Sorry that happened. Thank you for the heads up
I just picked up a WNS Quantum today. Its my first bow and its a mid range riser at $500 CAD but it is super smooth compaired to the few that i have shot and quite beautiful in the abyss blue colour.
Jake what if we had a mounting block containing both arrowrest and plunger that we could swap as a single unit to go from skinny arrows to fat arrows
Thanks for posting this Jake! Definitely won't get a dime from me. I'll be sure to share around my community as well.
I've seen very positive reviews of Sanlida products by other TH-camrs, but after hearing of this, wouldn't even consider them. I've always been a "buy American" kind of guy anyway, so this just cements that position.
You're a class-act Jake, thank you for all you do!
Bro… I’m sorry that happened, keep up the good work. Aloha from Hawai’i
Glad I saw this, I nearly bought one of their compound bows.
I will look for another manufacturer.
All the best
Is Topoint brand ok?
What else can we do so that World Archery is able to see our disdain towards these practices and misuse of content from the archery community?
Email them, write on social media. Comment anytime they mention Sanlida in any video or post about their tactics.
So is this just Sanlida branded stuff? Or anything Sanlida makes? Because that's a significant port of Lancaster's Galaxy line.
Good point. It would be good to see some big suppliers put pressure on Sanlida.
I wish i had known about this when I purchased my Sanlida bow just over a month ago. 😢
Hey, what target is that behind you? Is that Danage or someone else?
You have integrity, Jake, and that's a credit to you. You're right to boycott them.
I am a new archer enthusiast and starting to shop for my first bow but after watching this I will totally boycotting Sanlida. Hate their dishonest business model. Thank you for all you do Jake.
Sad to here. I never considered buying their products anyways.
Full support to your comments. Sorry that this happened to you. James from OZ.
Stand firm Jake, your integrity is critical - their's is junk.
I wish you posted this video last week. I've ordered the riser and currently waiting for shipment ☹️
now Sanlida can be like, "Jake Kaminsky PASSIONATE About Sanlida"
ahahah! YEAH, no matter what you do, it is still an ad )
Good think you called them out like this! They should be called out publicly and as you said, they should be boycotted.
Absolutely Jake totally agree
Their business seems to be copying other designs so it is no surprise they sink to these depts.
Hi Jake, do you mind me sharing this video on some Chinese website?
Please do, not sure if you can cite the source video I don’t remember if TH-cam is banned over there.
Yes, TH-cam is banned here. I need download this video and upload it to the Chinese site with Chinese subtitles. Of course I will add the TH-cam link in the description. Just want to have your permission.
I’m in the market for a new bow, and Sanlida was on my short list. Not any longer. Thank you.
100% Agree Jake... I bought A couple of bows from them before...but I will never spend another dime with this company.. Sorry to hear about this practice with this company....
The fact that they sponsor the WA World Cup feels weird now
From what country are they originally? Just to be sure my research is right.
This is not ethical at all. Thank you for sharing and agree with your viewpoint!
Disgraceful and illegal behavior by them. Good for you to call them out.
Has WA responded to this yet?
I have watched a few of your videos. This one is why I subscribed.
Thanks for the heads up. I've never bought their products, and never will. I will spread the word around my club and place where i shop. BOYCOTTED!!!!!!
thanks for keeping things Honest Jake.
I'm with you.
It's good that you talk about it. I won't buy anything from this company. Ban.
I had put some of their 'World Archery sponsorship' products on my wish list but luckily never purchased them. Of course I will share this video.
Oh yeah. Shout out to NU Sensei. His link to your video showed up on my subs first. He's one of my other favs.
I don't particularly want club members pics spread across the Internet attached to podict sales.
if you dont care about "MUH IMAGE used in adverisement and i GOT 0 money from that!" i dont see any issues here. Pretty Standard marketing routine
