wow this is the 1st time I've seen this scene, and it's beautiful! wow like in a Disney movie, the music, the scene, the actors. We'll never see movies like this again.
@Stonecold1987 Actually you can really say this is a Disney film since technically with the merger of 20th Century Fox the film library and the studios are now a division of WALT DISNEY COMPANY
This is in my top 5 favorite movies of alltime, with two of my favorite stars well three, tierney andrews and crain. You know they really DON"T make em like they used to. But thank God to whoever had the brains to invent photography and then film. I can watch these old movies over and over and over. I can't think of any modern movies, well very very few, than I need to see more than once.
how lucky we are to have these beautiful films . the elegance of the actors and actresses from this era we will never see again . just like gene tierney and rex harrison in the heart rendering film the ghost and mrs muir . that i have as one of my favourites if you click on and watch the final scene of the film it is timeless . what a contrast we have to the sneering smug in your face acting of today compared to these classics .
Ths hypnotically gorgeous film is definitely one of the ten most visually beautiful and radiant color movies ever made and one of the two best color films of the entire decade of the 1940s, along with Black Narcissus.
I love 1940's films: he's canoeing to a rustic lakeside cabin in the Maine woods while wearing suit, hat, and tie. Meanwhile, she's wearing a dress, nylons and heels! They look terrific! Can you imagine what their characters would be wearing if they remade this movie to be set in 2018?
That is exactly what one of my thoughts was! They would both being wearing shorts and flip flops, and he no doubt both would have a few tattoos. Oh, well, times change. (I looked at this clip as it is my all time favorite film from the 1940's...just has everything going for it).
That's why Leave Her To Heaven is my favorite Hollywood film. I don't mean a film that was produced in Hollywood but a film that was great Hollywood fiction and completely severed from our reality. Every interior is spotless, everyone is well dressed at all times, and the atmosphere is akin to animated Norman Rockwell painting. Everything is so damn fake and I love it !
As I said in an earlier comment, I love this film because of the photography. That last scene was a masterpiece. I won't get into a debate about prison time.
Yes! I said "Oops!" right after I posted that. I saw the movie several times but not in years. I forgot about the Jeane Crain character. But remembered it in a split second right after posting. I stand corrected.
Era o pós guerra,não se queria ver mais desgraça,daí o expressivo sucesso dos filmes americanos no mundo, que divulgavam o "American way of life". Repetindo, eram outros tempos;I'm Sorry.
I am a huge admirer of this film mainly because of the beautiful color photography. The concluding scene is a technical masterpiece. I am also a big fan of both actresses. As far as the plot is concerned, Gene Tierney portrays an unbelievable selfish, controlling monster that nobody can root for.
i would also recomend the concluding seen to the ghost and mrs muir that i have as one my favourites this stands alongside the concluding scene to leave her to heaven. as the most beautiful film endimgs both films starred gene tierney .
Overall terrific movie, unusual in 2 ways: it's exploration of a sociopath, and: 2) for a non costume film to be shot in (gorgeous) color at that time. Unhappily spoiled by giving away too much at the very beginning, but still irresistible.
GRR I HATE THIS ENDING! Her sister was vying for ellen's man all along! It doesn't matter that she didn't "do" anything, she completely made you feel it from the first scene that she appeared.
Ellen was still engaged to Russell when Ruth first met Richard, so it wasn't improper for Ruth to focus her affections on someone who was then still an eligible bachelor. If Ruth "did" something, it was to try and get away from Ellen and Richard because she knew Ellen was insanely jealous of her and everyone else, including Richard's poor brother.
The actress in the concluding scene of this film was Jeane Crain, not Gene Tierney. Gene played the lead role of her evil sister who manipulated every men around her, her father, her lover (Vincent Price) and her husband (Conrad). She seduced her husband to marry her but actually her own sister truly loved him. The supporting role of Gene's sister was played by Jeane who at the end of the story reunited with her true love.
Jeanne Crain was the most irritating thing in the movie - continued to throw herself at Cornel Wilde repeatedly throughout the story. The mother was also a nightmare; What? They didn't know Ellen well enough to realize she did not want them anywhere near her, but continued to foist themselves into her life and marriage? It was them who should have met their ends....not anyone else. I also blame Richard for insisting upon involving them in his and Ellen's lives after the repeated times she made it clear she did not want this. Seriously, one can completely see why Ellen was so neurotic.
You are as psycho as the lead actress full of suspicions, jealousy, and bitterness. They thought of her as family and they were invited. People can be friends without being looked at as "throwing themselves at someone". You speak just like her.
Love Jeanne Crain. She has gentle eyes and unthreatening gaze and is very beautiful and peaceful.
I couldn't agree more. I really feel that Jeanne Crain has never been given her due. A beautiful women !
Woman is spelled woman. Women is the plural.
wow this is the 1st time I've seen this scene, and it's beautiful! wow like in a Disney movie, the music, the scene, the actors. We'll never see movies like this again.
Jeanne Crain would have made a great live action Snow White, and Gene Tierney would have been a wonderful Evil Queen!
@Stonecold1987 Actually you can really say this is a Disney film since technically with the merger of 20th Century Fox the film library and the studios are now a division of WALT DISNEY COMPANY
If this old movie is owned by Disney it’s a shame you can’t watch it on the Disney+
Jeanne Crain AND Gene Tierney in one movie...almost more pulchritude than I can handle!
... those Irish beauties
The color in this film is glorious.
Multiple Oscar winner Cinematographer Leon Shamroy was an early genius of Technicolor.

@@johnfd0210 I can also see them easily wearing vintage style casual wear
@@ricardocantoral7672 People did dress up in the 1940s, especially when they traveled. Even 'casual' back then would be considered formal today.
@@musicaltheatergeek79 They had a tendency to dress formally but it was clearly taken to an nth degree in movies.

Excellent movie

Gene Tierney is in this movie. But Jeanne Craine's Character is in this Scene.

We're going to leave her alright,
but it won't be to heaven.
Jeanne Crain was breathtakingly beautiful as was Gene Tierney. How can one choose between a ruby and an emerald?
When both are beautiful you choose one with kindness
i would also recomend the concluding seen to the ghost and mrs muir that i have as one my favourites this stands alongside the concluding scene to leave her to heaven. as the most beautiful film endimgs both films starred gene tierney .

If you've ever seen the movie, You would know that Gene Tierney's Character died before this scene.
Thanks for the spoiler!

You guys; that woman is NOT Jeane Crain. It was Gene Tierney!! Get it straight! Bad mistake!!
