Hi Geoff, so good to hear from you! Thank you, this is a fun way to see some remote areas here in the states. I've been watching your build videos, what a beautiful structure! I can't wait to see it finished (you too I bet)! Cheers
Very nice! I have a similar setup but use roller Blade wheels riding on the rails and skateboard wheels mounted horizontally to run against the inside of the rails…. I have fork mounts above each rail so it can be ran as a side by side tandem. Beautiful scenery and neat tunnels there in Tennessee! Just took mine for its first test ride yesterday and have a big adventure planned this weekend. Greetings from Southern California!
Awesome, hope you have a fun and safe first ride! There seem to be lots of abandoned tracks in California, you should have some great rides coming up! Cheers
I'm doing research for me to gather different ideas how to adapt bike for rails. Your mod with plastic pallet is interesting. And you had nice tracks to explore.
Wow 😮what an amazing ride. We just got the bike out on its first day of riding and we live on some steep hill, we are amazed how easy this bike pulls up the hill.
Good deal, I need to update the firmware on this bike to the latest version. My future videos of this cart will be using one of my fat tire ebikes, probably the Ranger. Cheers
Hey cool video, instead of using the discs and having to put up with the grinding noise and the friction, have you considered using some square tubing under the pallet, similar to the axles, you could then put a piece of threaded bar vertically through it and attach a skateboard type wheel to it. These would run along the inside edge of the track and could be easily adjusted up / down in / out as required. Any way, happy travelling, unfortunately there are no such tracks in the UK that I can think of 😭
Hey, thanks for watching! I'm surprised to hear that, I thought there would be abandoned tracks everywhere in the UK. Yes I believe skateboard wheels will be the next modification for the cart. The first round here I wanted to keep it a very quick and inexpensive build, something anyone could do in a weekend. Cheers
This section came close to a trail conversion in 1996ish with a rails to trails study done and an MOU between the then UP president and Gov. Romer! Such a missed opportunity to build a world class trail.
That certainly would be an amazing trail! My understanding is that it was left as a viable alternative the the Moffit tunnel should that tunnel ever have a failure. I would say the more time that passes the more likely it will be converted to a killer path! Cheers
This looks like a blast! And it looked like you really put lots of quality planning in to keep it low cost but very functional. Nice job! But isn't it illegal to ride on abandoned tracks? Everything I'm reading on the web says that the general public are not allowed on abandoned tracks. What's the rules for Colorado?
Hey thanks, yes I just wanted a quick and easy build to get out on the rails. The pass I show here is definitely one of the favorites for private rail cars in this state. The local railroad museum actually recommended this route to me. As far as I know anyone is allowed on unused tracks here. Cheers
I have a 1000w power station that I carry for charging camera batteries and an emergency bike charge. This ride wasn't long enough that I needed any back up for the bike. Cheers
Hello, the tunnel length is 2577 ft , so about 8.5 football fields long! My gps didn't work for me on the day I was there and my odometer wasn't accurate since I was dragging the cart over a long section of ice in the middle. Cheers
What a brilliant video Tom. Absolutely love this.

Hello, if you plan to haul lots of stuff, maybe a dog and camping gear this platform is amazing. Cheers

I was hoping to see some graffiti pieces. The spray can character is dope. Gr8 video 🙂👍🏾
You're not kidding, there is some really well done art in the tunnel. Some done with what looks like glow-in -the dark paint too. Cheers
Awesome! Riding the rail with an ebike!!!

Clever engineering! The length of the Tennessee pass tunnel is 2577 feet long at an elevation of about 10,200 ft.

@@lifebehindbarz60 It's certainly a long and comlicated story but we are working hard towards reviving that dream!
awesome build! subbed!

How u keeping the battery charged on your ebike ? Did u have spare batteries? A solar panel would have been gr8 to add on, on top of the container lid

Can’t you measure the tunnel with GPS or is the signal that bad?
