Bruno Sammartino and Larry Zbyszko appeared for an autograph session on Feb. 12, 2011 at The Mall at Robinson in Pittsburgh. First public appearance together in approx. 30 years in Western Penna.
Those guys were the real Wrestlers . These jerks today are nothing but show . Back in the day wrestling was WRESTLING. I miss going to the arena with my dad . I never thought we'd lose Bruno . It broke my heart 💔when he passed away ( the same with gorilla monsoon) . I miss all of those wonderful men .
Bruno kayfabing it all the way...There was always a tremendous amount of mutual love and respect...Larry's Hall of Fame induction speech will always be my favorite...
I was laughing to myself about that too. Bruno keeping Kayfabe. It was four miles from my house and I didn't know it was happening. I would have loved to have seen them.
Bruno was still kayfabing here. He couldn't go the shoot way of the other guys on youtube until recently. Even he couldn't keep it up in recent yrs lol
I watched wrestling at midnight on Saturday and had to wait for the trotters were over, sometimes it was held over for several minutes , but we waited patiently just to watch wwf.
It's cute how Bruno still tries to protect the business by explaining away the joint appearance: "time heals all wounds... it was a long time ago, etc." As opposed to just admitting that they never actually hated each other in the first place.
Come on, any of us who watched the match back then knew it was set up, it was plain to see. Bruno is in kayfabe talking about how it got out of hand. The chairshot was weak, and you could see Bruno blading and putting the cutter in his tights. As he said, it led to selling out arenas(lots a money to be made) , totally planned by the promoter, McMahon ,Skaaland and Morella(monsoon). Back then , TV broadcasts weren't the money maker, it was the arena shows that filled the pockets. These guys are all actors, some better than others.
bruno. s. is. my. all. time. favorite. and. i. think. he. is. best. all. time. i. saw. him. as. a kid. wrestle. many. times at island. garden. arena. in west. hempstead. in. 1960s
With what passes for wrestling today, guys going from heels to babyfaces and vice versa is no big deal. But when Zbyszko turned on his mentor Bruno way back in the day, that was HUGE, and started a feud that never really ended.
Bruno never breaks away from his role. RIP Bruno. I like Larry's comments "I'm a golfer now" he adds to conclude the 30 years gone by so fast, at least I look the same. Witty and personable. 👍kudo s to the both of them
I'll get a picture taken with both of them in Toronto. Bruno will have his old WWWF World title belt for that picture. Yeah, i'll try not to mark out too hard...
It's almost hard to believe that Larry is that much younger than Bruno by looking at this video. Larry golfs and wrestles on the indie circuit, and Bruno had surgery a while back, yet look who appears in better shape! I know the video is nearly 2 years old, but they don't look any different now than in this clip.
Bruno didn't even make eye contact with Larry for those first few minutes there. He spoke to Larry, but Bruno didn't seem like he was ready to meet Larry's eyes yet. Damn.
I remember this feud. I thought it was real at the time. :) Still love the old Wrestling. Bad acting and all. Bruno seemed like he could take care of himself. I wonder if he ever worked with someone who wouldn't sell his moves or vice versa. Did he ever work with RIc Flair?
I was at the Shea Stadium match and dont remember the exact date but it was a Saturday night, definitely Summertime and the year was 1980(I'm thinking August).
i remember this one and Bruno cutting himself didnt sell with me but it made alot of money, wrestling was fake back then but more so now because of the exposure to it plus it doesnt help that you can hear them calling out their next moves to each other.
Hulk Hogan sold out Shea Stadium... Brother. Then he lifted the 750 pound Andre the Giant over his head in front over 100,000 ppl ion the Silverdome. Andre died soon after
@walruswasrob There's something really kind of cool about that. I mean, we've come so far and everything has been so exposed...it's nice to see a guy who says screw all that and keeps to the kayfabe for old time's sake.
I met Larry Zbysko a few weeks ago at a wrestling meet and greet and asked him if Bruno was upset that Larry stole his "living legend" nickname. He was and in my opinion, rightly so. Larry hasn't accomplished a tenth of what Bruno has!
Bruno was the top man in the WWWF and then the WWF for a very long time. Larry became an excellent heel. He was a top contender in almost every territory he wrestled. As great as Bruno was it always takes a compelling villain to make an outstanding hero. The feud between these two was extremely hot. It sold out in every arena it went. Obviously, Bruno was the bigger star but Larry Zybszko had a lot to do with the Bruno legend.
That dude oldschool6804 is one real old time true believer. I've seen his comments on other posted videos here, and he does the same crap; the dude truly believes that wrestling is 100% real. You handled him nicely.
They really did fall out during the run of sell out shows Bruno Mentions, It happened a lot in wrestling back then especially when they start believing they are the character or start getting jealous, It happened to Bret Hart and HBK too they was best of friends but one-upmanship ruined their relationship.
@GlorifiedTruth Could have been worse; you could have been next to Lawler, asked him the same question and he would have said, "Bra and Panties, Bra and Panties!" By the way, that answers part of Bruno's issues as well.
Andre weighed a ton, brother. Only the Hulkster could lift Andre at that time. BTW, there were 100 million people at the Silverdome that night, Brother.
I sat next to Bruno in geometry class. One day I said, "Hey Bruno, what's the volume of a cone?" He answered, "Damn it, man, don't get me started about Vince again. That product he's putting out is garbage, just garbage. It makes me sick to my stomach. Back in my day..."
What about the way he embarrassed Larry in that original "exhibition"? Bruno was jealous of Larry because Bruno knew Larry would surpass the so called "living legend".
Without Bruno selling out everywhere as champion throughout the 60's and 70's, there might not be a WWE today.
I know still strong !
Definitely not he built it !
Yes Bruno was the foundation for WWE.
Bruno was a legendary man and I felt down for days after he died, and I never meet him
He was still looking young there.
Bruno kayfabing it all the way...There was always a tremendous amount of mutual love and respect...Larry's Hall of Fame induction speech will always be my favorite...
All the way...
I was laughing to myself about that too. Bruno keeping Kayfabe. It was four miles from my house and I didn't know it was happening. I would have loved to have seen them.
It was real
Bruno Sammartino was recognized all over the world. Other than Andre The Giant there was nobody as well known as Bruno back in the day.
I will say this Bruno is in better shape than most retired wrestlers
Love that Bruno keeps the work going!
Wasn't work
I remember that match on tv when Larry turned on Bruno. Can't remember breakfast this morning but I do remember that.
you would never guess larry zbyszko was a heel he just seems like such a nice guy
Larry and Bruno, Living Legends !!
For a 77 year old man...Bruno still looks beastly.
Thank you so much for posting this video. It's appreciated. I love Larry very much
Larry turning on Bruno was one of the great heel turns of all time.
Wow nice rip bruno looking great Mr Larry bless your heart n keep it moving bruh been following you since 70's
Wow I cant believe what cauliflower ears Bruno developed from his years of wrestling.
I love both of these guys. Great video. Thanks for posting it.
It's impossible to not like this guy. Respect.
Sammartino's in better shape than all the current wwe is.
Great to see those two guys together!
Bruno just might have been the first, if not the only, pro wrestler who got regular coverage from Sports Illustrated. He was THAT popular...
Bruno was the building block for the McMahon family
Bruno is the real Italian Stallion
RIP Bruno San Martino
Seriously? You couldn't even spell his name right? That's sad
2 legends!
These guys were such a big part of a lot of kids growing up. They were badasses of the day. Thank you for the Memeories
I love hearing Bruno talk about my favorite heel worker.
hate to tell all you marks this but Bruno and larry were ALWAYS very close!!!!
Yup. I think the whole enmity thing was a work.
actually bruno did have problems with larry dave meltzer has mentioned this on his radio show
xREAVERx Maybe for a little bit, but I still don't believe it. I think it was all a big work lol.
xREAVERx Yeah, Meltzer also sad that CM Punk was going to appear on RAW on Monday just about every Monday before RAW aired.
Lol channel 9 in NYC 👍
It's cute how Bruno still tries to protect the business by explaining away the joint appearance: "time heals all wounds... it was a long time ago, etc." As opposed to just admitting that they never actually hated each other in the first place.
Actually they did hate each other
Great to see.

Frank Taliercio may he RIP.
I waiting for Larry to cut a promo on Bruno and the two of them start brawling in the fountain
Great man
With what passes for wrestling today, guys going from heels to babyfaces and vice versa is no big deal. But when Zbyszko turned on his mentor Bruno way back in the day, that was HUGE, and started a feud that never really ended.
Im sure they saw each other before this
Bruno Kayfabe to the end
Could have done a separate interview with Bruno's ears.
good interview. just found this video.
That was one hot feud! And it was amazing how Larry Zbyszko made a whole career out of that feud!
He is 77 years old and ripped.
tonycapt1 RIP Bruno. Sad he passed today at 82.
Bruno never breaks away from his role. RIP Bruno. I like Larry's comments "I'm a golfer now" he adds to conclude the 30 years gone by so fast, at least I look the same. Witty and personable. 👍kudo s to the both of them

2 Legends. RIP Bruno.
2 greats
I love it! Bruno refusing to break kayfabe!
RIP Bruno.
Surprised Larry wasn't wearing his WCW Monday Nitro button up shirt he wore for every broadcast.
Bruno looks fantastic.
Bruno didn't even make eye contact with Larry for those first few minutes there. He spoke to Larry, but Bruno didn't seem like he was ready to meet Larry's eyes yet. Damn.
That's old school 'til death.
I remember this feud. I thought it was real at the time. :) Still love the old Wrestling. Bad acting and all. Bruno seemed like he could take care of himself. I wonder if he ever worked with someone who wouldn't sell his moves or vice versa. Did he ever work with RIc Flair?
Bruno still keeping Kayfabe alive.
It's really cute that you still want to believe.
What year and day was the Shea Stadium match!
I was at the Shea Stadium match and dont remember the exact date but it was a Saturday night, definitely Summertime and the year was 1980(I'm thinking August).
Aug 9, 1980
and his feud made Larry - yet Larry plays up the living legend thing. Bruno being classy rarely brings it up but he made Larry's career.
Can’t believe Bruno in this interview is keeping still keeping kayfabe and thinks we don’t know that it was all work.
@keithjfro
No breakage of kayfabe to the death ^^
Not a 100% real, but not a 100% fake either, do you do this as well in theaters I presume?
Man Larry was hated for years for his turn I can't imagine a wrestler in today's wrestling have that kind of heat
They really knew how to do turn and feud angles back then. Patience and storytelling. Lost art today.
Bruno is Kayfabe to the end.
how much of that feud was staged. This was the only feud I think had some substance.
idiot.
Two gents
OF COURSE LARRY AND BRUNO HAD MET MANY TIMES BEFORE BUT PRIVATELY
Their fued was the last great story of the wwwf
Man, look how caulifloured his ears are!
@wheatbull No It Is One Of His Twin Sons Danny Or Daryl The Younger Brothers Of David
It doesn't really sound that way based on what Zbyszko says in his recent kayfabe commentaries shoot.
hard to look @ Brunos ears
My God! He looks better than most 40 year olds.
@RPenta - True that! :- )
@WrestlingHeretic .....KUDOS TO YOU. MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY.
Still doing Kayfabe all these years later.
Bruno looks like Uncle Leo from Seinfeld.
larry left and never came back to the wwf after this feud was over
larry was born in 1951
i remember this one and Bruno cutting himself didnt sell with me but it made alot of money, wrestling was fake back then but more so now because of the exposure to it plus it doesnt help that you can hear them calling out their next moves to each other.
Hulk Hogan sold out Shea Stadium... Brother. Then he lifted the 750 pound Andre the Giant over his head in front over 100,000 ppl ion the Silverdome. Andre died soon after
omg look at his ears
Is that glass broken behind Bruno? What a crappy mall this must be!
this is awesome. i'm a big fan of hells kitchen and kitchen nightmares, too. i wish i could have gone
@walruswasrob There's something really kind of cool about that. I mean, we've come so far and everything has been so exposed...it's nice to see a guy who says screw all that and keeps to the kayfabe for old time's sake.
All that hand shaking. Nice - BUT - hello corona.
@zackvanhalen get your glasses changed.

It's marble

i really hope your being sarcastic bruno held the world title from 63 to 71
sammartino was born in 1935 - he is gettin old
They really did fall out during the run of sell out shows Bruno Mentions, It happened a lot in wrestling back then especially when they start believing they are the character or start getting jealous, It happened to Bret Hart and HBK too they was best of friends but one-upmanship ruined their relationship.

Andre weighed a ton, brother. Only the Hulkster could lift Andre at that time. BTW, there were 100 million people at the Silverdome that night, Brother.
Wtf are you talking about. Andre was slammed by ALOT of guys
@@johnstrika9170 Nope. Only someone like Hogan, with the largest arms in the world, brother, could slam that stinky giant.
I sat next to Bruno in geometry class. One day I said, "Hey Bruno, what's the volume of a cone?" He answered, "Damn it, man, don't get me started about Vince again. That product he's putting out is garbage, just garbage. It makes me sick to my stomach. Back in my day..."
@walruswasrob The way it should be. haha
What about the way he embarrassed Larry in that original "exhibition"? Bruno was jealous of Larry because Bruno knew Larry would surpass the so called "living legend".
It's real to you isn't it
@@johnstrika9170 Of course it's real. It's on video.
Cena is a joke compared to Sammartino and Zbyszko.
John Cena is much better, and has accomplished far more.
You're a moron
