Fun useless fact about Ezreal: In the Brazillian dub of LOR when he is summoned he says: "Ezreal, i choose you !". The reason why he says that is cuz his VA voiced Ash Ketchum for 15+ years
I actually really like his personality, it has a surprising amount of depth and feels very real in a game where most champions are chanting kill death murder. Also fun fact: Ezreal accidentally saved the world when he stole an artifact from Mordekaiser's cultists that they were using to summon him back
I actually like that Ezreal is seemingly not an amateur. He can back up a lot of the big game he's spitting, but he's not an irredeemable douchebag either. "The cocky kid with a heart of gold" is a neat archetype, imo.
@@Muuony He also is racist against Noxians and he stereotypes all the Bilgewater champions as pirates. Which is "funny", given that Ezreal himself is notorious for grave robbing.

My headcanon is that Ezreal is annoying and acts like an important person because he is trying to cope with the fact his parents are missing, or probably is searching for a way to became famous and bring his parents back
It's not a headcanon, it's a fact. Ezreal has clear symptoms of ADHD, him wanting to draw attention to himself is a clear indication of being neglected since childhood. And because he thinks his parents abandoned him he tries to turn himself in the "cool" kid that no one will ever abandon again

I am unashamed to say that I got into Ezreal just cuz he spoke to my anime fangirl heart. There is a core of a good character there, and I think he can be molded into something magnificent. I'm very much into impostor syndrome characters.
I like your discussion of "overconfident" characters, but I think I'd put it a bit differently. There's a thin line between confidence and arrogance... Ezreal never crosses over into arrogance (unlike ASol or Qiyana), which makes me want to put some respect on his name, personally. He might get annoying at times, always hyping himself up, you but you can sense his vulnerability. The dude lost his parents. The dude's parents abandoned him before that. If no one else tells him he's worthy of love--he's gotta tell himself. There's a great story arc here, and League just traps him in the most annoying part of it.
I feel like whenever Nicky says he doesn't like "overconfident" characters, he kinda misses the fact that some of the characters he mentions are not really overconfident. I feel like both Ezreal and Qiyana are perfect examples of characters who ACT overconfident, because in reality, they are deeply insecure. Ezreal is really just a kid who desperately wants his parents to come home. He acts like a Shonen protagonist, but it is just a pose, because he believes that when his parents see him for a fearless hero he is, they might finally come home. As for Qiyana, she may be a spoilt rich girl, but her attitude (at least to me) comes off as more of a girl who had to fight for her spot in the light way too hard and is deep down afraid she is a fake who forced herself in this position, hence her hesitance to admit she cannot control the element of fire. Ofc I might be reading too deep into this, but I feel like Qiyana especially has more depth than she is given credit for.
It isn’t any wonder that that a young guy who’s never failed at anything in his life is extremely confident. I don’t think it’s fair to call him “over-confident.” He has no reason to not be as confident as he is.
I despise everything about Ezreal except his lore. I like how he met champions like Jax, Malphite and Lewis the gator but seeing him in game makes me wish my walls were made of dry wall so I could punch them
Ezreal has a lot of potential to be a really good and interesting character/main character in a story. He has a lot of flaws and character traits that easily lend themselves to a character arc of self-improvement, accepting oneself, facing the truth, etc. It's quite easy to see and nothing we haven't seen before, though that's not a bad thing, leaning on cliches and past ideas can lead to great results. It's just that like... League makes cool lore and characters and then like, nothing happens with them besides short stories, alt universe skin shit, Arcane. Here is to hoping we get a fun spelunking, Indiana Jones style story or show with Ezreal in the protagonist seat.
I personally never saw Qiyana overconfidence as being taken serious, she sounds like a bratty kid on purpose it seems, and she also has the whole being the best of her sisters and it not mattering in the line of sucession, for me she reads as "I am the best at what I do and still nobody likes me and it is everyone elses fault" kinda gal, which for me is an interesting character :v
I grew a soft spot for Ez once I read his lore. His cocky persona seems to be a mask for a lonely insecure young guy who misses his parents and is desperate to prove himself and win others' approval. That's pretty relatable. Unfortunately I can't gel with his crush on Lux, it's just written in a way that's cringy bordering on stalkery. It'd be good character development to see him grow out of it rather than be rewarded for it, but that might be asking too much.
I'd love if him and Lux could end up as just friends! I think honestly that's a lot closer to what both of them need in their lives, rather than a romantic relationship.
Ez is a champ that I believe has just as much potential as Jinx and Jayce in terms of character. The idea of a boy with so much power being overconfident to hide his fears of his parents never returning is an amazing idea for a story and could parallel Lux’s hiding of her powers if we do ever get a canon interaction between them
8:48 you could attribute this to the fact that ezreals parents werent around not even for half of the time..to the show boaty nature of him saying "ha ha im the best" really plays into the fact that he was probably very lonely as a child and wanted that attention that he didnt really receive. I understand people find him annoying but i like him and think hed actually make for a good tv show
I'm gonna piggyback of the discussion that some comments have had, while it's quite obvious (Nicky even points it out) that Ez's confidence is a mask to some extent, I'll go one step further and say in terms of actual self-confidence Ezreal is cripplingly low. He literally surpassed his parents, discovered the temple and artifacts they didn't and still thinks 1. They are not around because he isn't worth being around. 2. That on some level they are right to think this. This is combined with the aspect of his character I do really like, that despite all his bluster he is a genuinely good person, (Goes out of his way to save Kai'sa in the warriors cinematic when he could have easily left, had no obligation to help her, all because it was the right thing to do, at risk to himself.) All of this together makes the core of who Ezreal is, he's a pretty good kid at his center, with a lot of baggage. Seriously if someone close to him gave him one (1) genuine affirmation that he was worth loving and caring about it'd probably help him a ton, but because of his own outward mask no one really thinks he needs it, he's already got enough ego to spare or so it would seem. So he enters this honestly tragic spiral of accidentally pushing people away from giving him the care and affection that are like, all he really wants in life. He's honestly a pretty good character.
The battle academia ezrael works because of the underconfidence It's based on the Shonen characters like deku etc. And every time you lvl your ult, he gets more confident, kinda like making every single one or his ult lvls as another season of his series. Thus why this skin is such a wonderful work of art in comparison to some other legendaries that riot released... Like that one for senna
The Neeko struggle is real 😩 Also, in Brazillian dub it sounds much much more like he's forcing his overconfident self rather than it being his personality. My dude became Fiddle at the end, damn It actually only took me an hour to make the drawing jajfjdjdksks
So for the esports skin, the player (Haru) wanted a Rengar skin, but Riot made a rule that you had to play the champ at worlds to get the skin. Haru played one game in play ins, and thus ezreal was the only option.
Old Ezreal's W actually went through a ton of changes. In the beginning it was a heal for himself and allies and an attack speed reduction on enemies. Then he lost the heal and the ability became an attack speed buff and debuff Then it lost the ability to debuff enemies and it just granted him attack speed Then they reworked it into the mark ability it is today.
The reason ezreal jungle was so prominent for a single patch was because they made the AP jungle enchantment (yeah remember those?) a sheen item that restored mana and dealt aoe damage.
8:31 I think the problem with qiyana is that we have no feats for her. She's said to be really powerful and maybe the confidence matches up but we've only realy seen her mess with piltovans and sisters which gives no bases to what she can actually do
Wait i realized something. Both Ezreal and Kassadin seek their loved ones(Kass his daughter and Ez his parents) and they both have those gauntlets, so in conclusion we need to see a team up.
I really don't get people who find Ezreal annoying😅 Obviously, I respect your opinion, it's just that I looove his personality, his confidence is definitely not on a Qiyana level (was kinda offended you put them on the same level😂). Great video, hope you have a wonderful day!
for the Battle academia point, i think that's what they were going for when designing that skin, intentionally making him sound like every shounen jump mc but the english dubbed version.
Ezreal has this 2000s asshole protagonist vibe to him mixed with swashbuckling adventurer, so for me he is somewhat nostalgic as that type of character died off.
I remember Ezreal being one of the first champs I bought and the reason was just because his dance emote is the hare hare yukai dance from suzumiya haruhi
I kind of feel like Ezreal is kind of like "The Mario" of ADCs. His abilities are for the most part extremely straightforward, with no real special properties - a basic ranged skillshot, a bootleg Flash, and his ult is just a big blast. His only real unique ability is his W, and even that is basically just another skillshot to increase his damage and sustain. All other ADCs have more interesting traits, but that flexibility makes him a popular character.
I would also say that Udyr and Shyvana fall into that category of champions that can go either way with their builds. Although, in their case, the AD builds are more like "on-hit mixed damage bruiser" than anything else, only getting moderate amounts of AD from Trinity Force and BotRK, rest of the build being Wit's End, Merc Treads, Sunfire Cape and Dead Man's Plate. On the other hand, this is how I build most of my auto-attack based melee champions. Because it's the best way to maximize stats. Wit's End synegizes amazingly with Mercury Treads and is the logical choice over Maw of Malmortius 90% of the time and Dead Man's Plate, far from being just a tank item, is actually kind of invaluable for most melee champions, not just because of how much tankier it makes you than Sterak's Gage, Hullbreaker or Death's Dance but also because it gives you pretty good offense as well with the "run really fast and smack them silly on the first hit" effect. The only difference is that on Shyvana and Udyr I also get Sunfire Cape because of how well the burning effect complements their abilities. On anyone else, such as Jax or Xin Zhao, the last item would usually be Sterak's Gage.
Ironically I enjoyed listening about ezreal even if i dont care about him and I evem think this was the most dinamyc review you have done in this series.
I like ezreal as a high skill floor adc. Not because you have to hit skillshots, but because a good ezreal will hit skillshots and autoattack, a great one will weave them together seamlessly. Just being able to do that is a reason I would play him. It looks so fucking cool!
I'm gonna add on to the list as a champion that builds whatever they want and it just works, but more than that, it works WELL is Shyvana. you CAN build tank Katarina or Kai'Sa but... it's not very good. Shyvana you can literally have a full tank, full AP, full AD or whatever you want and it will legit work.
I wouldn't say Qiyana's ego is played seriously. It's almost identical to Ezreal's. The key difference is Ezreal deep down does recognize his insecurities so he plays himself up. Where as Qiyana being a member of royalty was likely built up to believe all those things, and she just refuses to recognize her insecurities or simply can't due to how she was raised. But she still clearly has underlining insecurity. I think a massive indicator of this is the voice line "Of course I've mastered fire.....I just don't like to show off." Considering their upbringings the difference makes a lot of sense. Deep down sad boy who refuses to believe his parents are dead vs pampered and spoiled princess with many siblings all gunning for the crown who probably just wants attention.
I think qiyana has her personality because of trauma her parents neglected her almost her whole childhood and qiyana's whole family did not care for her so its a trauma response for her to act like that
15:30 Playing AP Kai’Sa is COMPLETELY different from building hybrid / ad or on hit kaisa Ap Kai’Sa is all about sniping people from a distance, and using your R + W combo to assassinate a specific target once affected by your plasma, while the others kaisas build only use it to engage, and not a a source of poke or main damage. AP kaisa in an hybrid between a poke mages and an assassin, while AD kaisa is an adc with a little assassin side, I’m playing both and it’s completely different (while the hybrid, on hit and AD versions are played mostly the same) Oh and another champion that can build whatever he wants, Shaco ! And he’s playstyle completely shifts if he goes AD or AP. (He can even build bruiser items like stridebreaker and it will work)
Are you gonna play fiddle sup for tha fiddle review? I would really want to see you try and play him jg, I consider him one of the more relaxing jg champs to play.
Can't wait till Nickyboi reaches Rek'Sai and decides to refresh his memory on her lore and realizes he mixed up the deserts at which Rek'Sai hunts. Sai Khaleek =/= Great Sai
old w gave an attack speed buff to all ally champ it passed through. You could give it yourself, but in order to get it you had to cast it than quickly e or flash in front of it so it'd go over you and give you the buff. also i forget, but i wanna say his passive also changed, i could be very wrong there, and if so oops mb
iirc when ez was a jungler it was because he could get lv 2 really quickly and then gank top lane before any other jungler for basically a free kill giving both the top and jungler a quick early lead to snowball out of control
If i had to pick between ezreal and qiyana, i´d go for ezreal all the time. Yea he`s a liiiitle too obnoxious, but like you said it´s played out of his own insecurities, so you can kiiiinda understand why he acts that way. To me at least, a character with a big ego that is actually deeply insecure of himself is so much more interesting than, say, a jerk with a hula ring chanting she´s the 2nd coming of christ (qiyana shut the f+ck up, i hope that skarner disses you to the ground whenever his rework cames out). Ezreal has this 2000s asshole protagonist vibe to him mixed with swashbuckling adventurer, so for me he is somewhat nostalgic as that type of character died off.
I remember Ezreal being one of the first champs I bought and the reason was just because his dance emote is the hare hare yukai dance from suzumiya haruhi
also, if u wanna make ap ez work, you have to first buy a manamune (to farm) THEN u buy full ap.
Actually ezreal has more range on his e than actual flash.
I can say the same for Shaco. I've seen so many combination of item/runes and they're still coming.
11:04 This part almost killed me 💀💀
I would also say that Udyr and Shyvana fall into that category of champions that can go either way with their builds.
7:21 that entire interaction was hilarious
I think a quote of Ezreal is "Gauntlet fist", but every time I hear shit like "god exists"
perfect lunch break content
what im listening to for lunch is sorted TY NICKY
Ironically I enjoyed listening about ezreal even if i dont care about him and I evem think this was the most dinamyc review you have done in this series.
I think he has so many legendaries because the voice actor is into league/willing to voice more. Hell, he voices almost every video for skillcapped.
I just realized how Ezreal and Leo from Tekken is literally the same character. Even their lore is the same.
I like ezreal as a high skill floor adc. Not because you have to hit skillshots, but because a good ezreal will hit skillshots and autoattack, a great one will weave them together seamlessly. Just being able to do that is a reason I would play him. It looks so fucking cool!
I'd add Thresh and Jax to the "can basically build whatever and destroy everything"
You silly goose, you forgot that Skarner can also build whatever he wants
7:20 that flash dang
I think qiyana has her personality because of trauma her parents neglected her almost her whole childhood and qiyana's whole family did not care for her so its a trauma response for her to act like that
Hope collage is going well Nicky!!
Don't forget Draaaaaaaaven on that list of overconfidence.

Playing AP Kai’Sa is COMPLETELY different from building hybrid / ad or on hit kaisa
Ap Kai’Sa is all about sniping people from a distance, and using your R + W combo to assassinate a specific target once affected by your plasma, while the others kaisas build only use it to engage, and not a a source of poke or main damage. AP kaisa in an hybrid between a poke mages and an assassin, while AD kaisa is an adc with a little assassin side, I’m playing both and it’s completely different (while the hybrid, on hit and AD versions are played mostly the same)
Oh and another champion that can build whatever he wants, Shaco ! And he’s playstyle completely shifts if he goes AD or AP. (He can even build bruiser items like stridebreaker and it will work)
forgot our king of diverse builds the one and only shacussy herself
remember runeglaive Ezreal or Orianna it was so fun but riot killed it ao fast. It was pretty fun as AP to do dmg to creeps
You telling me my boy Skarner doesn't belong in the 'build anything' squad?
Are you gonna play fiddle sup for tha fiddle review?
I would really want to see you try and play him jg, I consider him one of the more relaxing jg champs to play.
On obnoxious characters, Nilah i find also incredibly obnoxious in her line delivery (no offense to the VA, it's just how she's written ig)
Can't wait till Nickyboi reaches Rek'Sai and decides to refresh his memory on her lore and realizes he mixed up the deserts at which Rek'Sai hunts.
Sai Khaleek =/= Great Sai
It took only 1 GAME of ezreal to say to myself, never again. And i refunded him later.
Even rerolled his ultimate.
What did you get from the reroll?
old w gave an attack speed buff to all ally champ it passed through. You could give it yourself, but in order to get it you had to cast it than quickly e or flash in front of it so it'd go over you and give you the buff.
also i forget, but i wanna say his passive also changed, i could be very wrong there, and if so oops mb
Fiddle is one of my favorite junglers can’t wait for next week
So RN Akali, Lux and MF are tied for most skins, all of them having 2 prestige skins.
Bro make a tier list of lol champions based on papularit pleas
add Fizz, Ekko, Shaco and Teemo to your list of champs who can build whatever they want.
iirc when ez was a jungler it was because he could get lv 2 really quickly and then gank top lane before any other jungler for basically a free kill giving both the top and jungler a quick early lead to snowball out of control
you forgot Shyvana in hamps that can build whatever they want
* deep breathing * 14 more chaaaaamps before Ivern
hey! I know he's far away for now... but when you get to nautilus, please play him AP mid! it's very viable and fun! trust :)
The way you describe him sounds a lot like Mirage from Apex Legends
I love Ezreal my favorite classic adc champ
Same here along with Jhin and Aphelios
If i had to pick between ezreal and qiyana, i´d go for ezreal all the time. Yea he`s a liiiitle too obnoxious, but like you said it´s played out of his own insecurities, so you can kiiiinda understand why he acts that way. To me at least, a character with a big ego that is actually deeply insecure of himself is so much more interesting than, say, a jerk with a hula ring chanting she´s the 2nd coming of christ (qiyana shut the f+ck up, i hope that skarner disses you to the ground whenever his rework cames out).
I can´t help but feel a little bad for ezreal, cause at the end of the day he just wants to see his parents again :c
Also LETS GO FIDDLE NEXT WEEK :D
How do you feel bad for ezreal but not for qiyana
@@pokemonlover4894 m a n
qiyana killed her own sisters just so she could be the only one, keeps diminishing other beings and praises she's the best of the best handling elements when she tecnically isn't, since she doesn't handle fire. And unlike ezreal, none of her voicelines makes me feel bad for her, at all. Her confidence is toxic and frankly no other champion in the game gives me this amount of anger just by voice alone. Only fizz managed to make me feel a similar anger.
@@x-nimator9997 her sisters are still alive and how she acts is her family's fault not her own fault and her family never thought her how to act and neglected her and the minute her did something has they throw her in prison mewhile ezreal is a rich kids that got a good education and has somewhat good parents and has the exact same personality as qiyana but lol community have alot of dubble standers when it comes to female characters plus viego acts wrose then qiyana but qiyana gets more for how she acts also her voice lines are not made for ppl to feel bad for her and qiyana never actually had a childhood and her voice is there to show how she deal with her own trauma
The only ability that scales better with ad than AP is actually his q. The rest of his abilities scale better with AP
Kleptomancy Ezreal flashbacks
Personal opinion but in the group of champs that can build anything and it will work I would include Jax. I feel that he would work with basically anything.
I can't believe you named Illaoi as overconfident over Draven, or even Nylah or Fiora.
8:25 Lore Question, would Qi make a good Vessel for Aatrox?
i disagree with illaoi and asol being over confident, over confident implies it's unwarranted and as you admitted, they've very much earned their confidence.
I don't think he explained further about Ez's magic powers, did he?
Ah yes, the reason why I have voice lines turned off in league.
Talking about skins, I actually got the ultimate one from a chest just to realize it's dogsht and keep playing with the base one
"He has a lot of short stories, which tends to happen as one of League's poster boys"
Teemo: *Cries in literally no lore.*
Idk if this counts but zilean can kinda build whatever he wants as long as its not ad. Any mage, enchanter, or tank item works on him
Shaco is another champ where it really doesn’t matter what you build, more so than ezreal
16:08 - Bungo BLAST!
You can build Veigar how ever you want and it would work, tank is the best though.
Forgot the clown for that exclusive group
I swear, I didn't copy Ezreal's outlook or personality.
I was born like that, sorry
Is it still canon that he goes on all these adventures to get famous because he believes that his parents will come back if he's good enough?
