Bruhs. I still vividly remember when people picked nothing but Sion, Maokai, and Shyvana top lane and tanky junglers due to the Cinderhulk items. It was hell. The meta pretty much revolved around who can take down tanks the fastest or out-sustain the tanks.

@@autent5335 I mean true, but its not as bad as before where the only item to counter them was Last Whisper or Liandry's and just praying that the items are enough. Atleast we have more options now like Kraken and BoRK (which was terrible during those times bcs the meta was crit dominated.)

This small moment in league of legends history was my favourite time to play! Aside from Ezreal, we had some other champions making some fun use of the item, GP, MF, Nasus, even something like Ap yasuo worked!
I've stopped playing the game now, but this is a fond memory

The other guy who could do the runeglaive thing pretty well was gangplank! Back in his pre rework kit when his q was like ez q in proccing sheen, AP GP top was pretty cool. Double bonus of extra delicious oranges and powerful ults

7:00 I do this right now with sion, I bring grasp and overgrowth, then usually very healthy items so I can end a game with anywhere from 6-10k hp depending on the length of it.
All of your Storys about the broken or not so broken history of LoL are such a blessing for us new players. I love them! I started the game Dezember 2018 and only hear the old storys from friends who say old LoL was bedder but your videos are showing me the real past and i am happy with the gamebalance at the time.

For someone like me that began playing lol back in beta it is so nostalgic to go through some history of LoL :D I would really love to see a video about the history of twitch. I mained him back in the days before his rework and when ADCs were played midlane. Running around 60s invisible being 30/2 was just normal... insane imagening this nowadays...
I don't play a lot of champions, but this I knew, this I felt in my fingers. I remember the WE with Q actually being able to clean up. We'll never E into our W again (unless we're far enough that W hits before the E travels xD). Also, very nice mention about the double tear and it getting shutdown very soon after its popularity spike! Thanks again for another documentary!
I actaully theory crafted a build to make AP Ez not only viable, but potentially just plain better than AD, no idea if it works cause I stopped playing league, but I still enjoy watching pro and some league content.
Tear and sheen as standard, then tear into seraphs
now it gets spicy, build a Nashors Tooth, amping both your Q on hit plus your standard right click ends up likely stronger than an iceborn Ez
complete your lichbane after nashors, no point building it earlier before you have AP to power it up
now it's fairly flexible, gunblade for sustain, D-cap for raw AP, Liandrys for poke, zhonyas or banshees for defenses, etc
because your Q is physical yet will still scale with your AP void is probably not necessary, but with both lichbane and nashors on hit being AP damage it may end up being optimal in some cases
boom, you have your poke and burst, but also the sustained right click damage with nashors that AP (and honestly often even AD) Ez always struggles with, you have seraph shielding to survive, 40% cdr, your ult is more than a pathetic attempt at wave-clear, and honestly, it just sounds fun to me

i love how people treat ezreal like he is weak or something... ez has never been weak, he is op litteraly every patch jusr because of that saftey that are his e and q.... we came to the point where ez is basicly jax of botlane... he can build litteraly any item and it works

Hey Exil. I was just wondering when are you going to cover the AD version of Mejais: Sword of the Occult.
Hey, two little points :
-Back in the day Karthus wasn’t a jungler, so he couldn’t less about Runeglaive being a Sheen item
-Smite was take on toplaners for more for the Red smite than the Cinderhulk, you had a low cd damaging exhaust (and icing on the cake, it could transition into a good tank item)
But really nice vid, as always !
I don't think you mentioned it, but since runeglaive converted the attack to magic damage it allowed ez to proc ludens echo on his q making his poke even bigger. Combined with the runeglaive aoe he now also had decent waceclear which is something he normally lacked.

Oh my god seeing 2010 gameplay is so nostalgic. The old map, the crappy icons.. I miss it sometimes. Even broken things like Jax with Dodge, old AP Yi, OG "break your keyboard mashing" Ryze with 5 Archangels/RoA and a hat.. the memories will always remain, And I love your content for showing newer players some of the amazing times we had back in the day.

The weird thing about Ez is that his kit has been consistently good throughout the games life, but every other month we get some item change that rubs him off just the right way and creates a game breaking combo. Even right now, Ez isn't really that strong, what makes him abusively powerful as an ADC is building 170 armor while maintaining damage. He works so differently than other ADCs that he always gets some weird obscure buff by taking items from another role because Riot didn't play test that.
It's reaching the point that either they should rework Ez again or put a rule that every item change needs to be playtested with Ez before release.

Plus, we have Kaisa now. She can borrow item from literally any role and still do same amount of damage as if she built Marksman item due to her hybrid ratios.
Riot needs to find a way to balance these two because they will always abuse best item in game.
Only champion that comes close to do this outside these 2 is Shaco, but he is melee so he can't buy half the items despite his good hybrid ratios. I would also say Jax and Kayle, but Jax is sort of shoehorned into a build by Riot, and Kayle is still fair because it takes her forever to become powerful.
The season 11 item rework is just all Ezreal buffs

As a sidenote: I always thought, that a not insignificant portion of the power of Runeglaive Ez mid, was that it let him proc Ludens with his Q?
ludens does get proced by his q, his q is a spell after all

you should talk about that time when ez started dominated jg because of that rune that gave you ms after 3 attacks, can't remember how it's called. it was the most aggressive and dominating (if do well) early game jg i've ever played

You really think Ezreal will one day stop to be strong? Arcane Shift makes him better than 70% of the other ADCs just because how safe he can be with arcane shift + mistic shot.

Would love to see you make a video about zed, in my opinion a champ loved by the players who play him and hated by the one who play against him, that is the signature assassin of his class and had an impactful role in pro play back in the day

I started seriously getting into AP Ezreal in 2021 after the removal of gunblade. Watched this video countless times because the idea of AP Ezreal having such viability intrigued me so much. Literally had hundreds of ranked games as AP Ez these past three seasons with a negative winrate, hoping for some item change to make him viable again. That came in the form of statikk shiv of all items. After literally 8 years, my boy is finally viable again
I think Ezreal is the first ,,modern" champion that got released. By modern I mean the mobility + skillshots thing they do with practically every champion since 6-7 years. And Ezreal is like, the epitome of that gameplay design (and he was probably the one who started it all of, seeing how popular he was). Not sure if I would count him as a blessing, or as a curse, since we got neat stuff like Jinx, Lissandra, or Bard, but at the same time we also got Yasuo, Ekko, and Azir.
This is what I love about Ezreal besides his play style. To this day, in September 2022, Ezreal's build is a fucking circus. Blue Ezreal? Jungle item + Tank item as a core. AP Ezreal? Jungle item in the core of the Mid Laner's build. Today's meta? Core items are Divine Sunderer and Frozen Heart. I love Ezreal. At some point, I had 12/3/11 KDA in 200 matches per season MULTIPLE seasons in a row. This was my Silver-Gold ELO destroyer. I've never reached that level of dominance on the Rift since then. Even though my skills level is much higher than it was then, Seasons 4 to 6 were my peak. This mobility creep meta changed everything for my play style.
Ok i have this absolute theory in mind about nocturne.... Sooo if we say that max atk speed is capped at 5.00(with lethal tempo) what will happen to nocs passive cuz every 2 nd or. 3 rd atk he heals if we calculate roughly every second noc heals twice from his auto atacks and also deals aoe dmg to enemy champs 1 or 2 times . If we add spear of shojing to his build then well have his abolities reduced by 1 sec right ?? Which means for 6 sec hell be able to have 5.00 ideal atk speed and every 2 atk he will heal and deal 5x dmg to. All the enemy champs and if we add this absurd to calculator somehow we get 2x5x5(passive hits to other champs)+ 3x5 that is equal tooo 65 auto atacks in 5 secs and if we at least give noc base ad then hell do at least 50 ad dmg to target em i wrong ?? Soo 65x50 =3225 with only base ad im not counting passive dmg from q and item buffs soo if we give him bork that will give him minimum of 60 ad and +40ad other item bonuses and +60 ad from passive and + at least 10 ad from runes what the fk do we get ?? 65x220=14300..... 14 k dmg from 5 sec free and ideal situation... Even if we devide this 14 k dmg that was alredy devided then he will still be able to take down adc squishy sup mage and jg ... Think about that ...
