    Joseph was in prison for 2 years after he interpreted the dreams of the Chief Butler and Baker. He was sold into slavery when he was about 17, and he was 30 years of age whe he became Vice-regent to the Pharaoh. Altogether he served 13 years with Potiphar and in prison.

    It wasn't until I was older and watched this again that I realized Potiphar imprisoned Joseph out of pride. Cause how would he look to others? His wife coming onto a slave? It would ruin his image if he let that slave resume his post. So he put Joseph 'out of sight, out of mind'. That's why Potiphar was so shocked that Joseph bore no grudge or anger towards him.

    The traders Joseph's brothers sold him to were Ishmaelites, descendants of Ishmael, the elder brother of Joseph's grandfather Isaac, meaning he was sold to his own cousins.

    • @798jeremy
      @798jeremy ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I thought Isaac was Ishmael's elder brother, on the opposite actually...🤔 I'm not convinced by what you said.

    • @themaestro2572
      @themaestro2572 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@798jeremy okay, so before Isaac was born, Sarah told Abraham why not take the Egyptian servant Hagar to be your concubine and bear you a child? So Abraham did and with Hagar they had Ishmael. Then God told Abraham that he and Sarah would be blessed with a child: Isaac who was born after. So Ishmael is older than Isaac.
      Given that Joseph and his brothers were of the fourth generation of the Abrahamic line, I presume these Ishmaelite merchants were Ishmael's great-grandsons and therefore Joseph's second cousins, since they share the same great-grandfather.

    He is a miracle child, because Rahel had problems becoming pregnant unlike Lea, her sister. His way of singing this is not ego or narcism. It just show his faith in God. He believed that God helped his mother with a wonder, or miracle, to become pregnant.

    • @endefisto123

      If I recall the story Jacob had to serve on their father's land for 7 years on order to marry Rachel, since he really loved her, but her father tricked him and he married Leah instead, so in order to also marry Rachel he had to serve for another 7 years meaning by the time they got married she would be in her 30s maybe even 40s so getting pregnant is harder at that age especially in those times.

    "Entering the Bazaar" is actually my FAVORITE kind of montage to explain a situation someone is in. It's brutal, straightforward, and so vast. "You are Egypt's now, we have all control from your every step, from your very soul" Prince of Egypt did it better and more epically but this still holds as my favorite one.
    But I'm dying with that line "They just cleaned him up" as if he wasn't just manhandled and shown his new place in life as a slave. 😂 😂 😂 😂

    though TRUE he didn't deserve to go to prison you have to remember that his Master JUST discovered his wife lied to him and desired a slave who turned her away.
    His honor wouldn't allow him to kill Joseph because his innocence BUT his Shame AND Pride wouldn't allow him to look on his slaves face... SO prison.

    Other people get angry at Joseph for his dreams and signs of god which are a result of their actions/choices in their life.
    When Joseph is forced to isolated and faces his reality completely there is life around him or signs from god he’s not alone and won’t die, which he attacks out of anger to his situation being terrible. He does not see these as signs he attacks them because he’s upset and sees them as threats when god should see him through all difficulties.
    Once he accepts his situations either created by his presence/ignorance or by others influencing his life or the trials god has destined him he’s able to gain control oh himself, in his understanding of personal dreams which are given generously to the community to aid as many as possible.
    Fulfilling his fathers dreams of a son: respectable, knowledgeable, kind, and his mothers: someone who’s kind and equal to all and shares his gifts as generously as possible. Their dreams came true, having a son and that son would fulfill their dreams of what was possible and beyond and while also being able to accomplish their own personal dreams.
