Why did the Queen accept Moses? Because in Ancient Egyptian culture, the Nile River was viewed as "the giver of life" as it was the only major freshwater source the Egyptians had. So when a random baby boy arrives to the Queen, she saw it as a blessing from the Egyptian God of the Nile, Hapi, as a divine baby sent just for them; a gift of new life from the giver of life.

Acctually the Queen took in the baby because for egypcians the Nile was allways like a sacred river (because it gave life to the things around it, etc..) so when the baby came the Queen thougth it was like a gift from the Gods, present and she took in the baby.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I’m not religious anymore. BUT I loved this movie because it told a great human story (especially the brotherly relationships) with great visuals/messages/songs. My favorite song is the “Plagues” but my second favorite is “Heaven’s eyes”. It’s such a great film for Dreamworks and I adore everyone who loves it 😊
I'm not and never was religious, I didn't even know the source was the bible at all when I watched it as a kid (was one of my fav movies, yes I was a weird kid) until much later. I could probably count on one hand how many times I'd even been in a church at the time and yet, I loved it. I'd say I'm anti-religious now and still can't do anything but love this movie
Likewise. You don't need to personally be religious to respect this film and the positive values it espouses. Beautiful film -- one of my absolute favorites.
@@LampseekerForevermore I never said that every action in the film is positive nor that I agree with all of it. Actually, the entire retribution you're referring to is one of a thousand reasons I don't personally fare well with religion. No need to be an asshole about it.
@@LampseekerForevermore how did you come to that conclusion? Which innocent people are you referring to? The first borns that god killed during the night?
I never understood this movie as a kid, until my family told me about the story of Moses as I grew up. Now as an adult I can say that this movie is an entire masterpiece
Being an ardent Catholic Christian myself, I watched this movie with my family three nights ago. My sister didn't want it at first, as she thought it would be a cheap, boring Biblical movie. By the end of the opening she was already crying her heart out at this masterpiece, along with all of us.
THE ANIMATION, CAST, SONGS, HANS ZIMMER SCORE, EVERYTHING, ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING IS PERFECTION!!!!!! 24 YEARS LATER STILL AWESOME, ALMOST 25 YEARS!!!!!! “ DELIVER US!!!!!!!!”
Here's the thing to understand about Egyptians at this time. The reason they so readily accepted Moses as a baby is because they worship the Nile as a god. The Nile was not only a god. It was a sentient god. So if a sentient god sends you a baby, you assume it's supposed to be your new baby.
The burning bush scene is so powerful! It fills my heart with love for God every time. God bless you guys and loved your reaction to this beautiful movie!
This movie came out when I was in high school. I was in choir and one of the songs the teacher chose was “When You Believe” and either I was the only one who’d seen the movie, or the only one who’d seen it enough to memorize the Hebrew part of the song, because suddenly I was singing alone. XD I think the teacher tried to get me to teach everyone else, but I didn’t actually know it, I was just mimicking what I heard, and it didn’t seem like anyone was even trying to learn. So from then on any time we did the song I soloed those parts, as well as the final line in the song (for some reason). Thankfully we did not do it in a concert or anything, lol.
I think the opening between Rameses and Moses really shows what happens when people get raised under the aassumption that they are untouchble. Sure, they get chewed out by their Dad, but none of the people they possibly harmed with their little race will say a word against them. The _only_ reason the priests can speak up is because they are high enough up the ladder to say something, but even they cannot touch the princes.
In my opinion a truly good Christian movie is one that bridges the gap, even if you don’t believe in the core part of the movie if you enjoy the story regardless then it’s a perfect Christian movie.
If you liked this, you’ll love the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Easily one of Disney’s darkest films with hands down the best music. It’s visually stunning as well
Its kinda cool how the slaughter of the lives of the children, gave way for moses to become a deliverer, and at the same time, the lives of the children in egypt is their pathway to freedom. This pattern of the innocent ones being caught up between the fights of people they are not directly related is sad, and as a story, it ends in a circle, how the lives of this children started and ended this journey, or the start of their journey .
I’ve loved this movie since I was four years old, and it still holds so much weight today. I mean, what happened to his people was absolutely unforgivable and utterly disgusting, but my god, this movie told it in such an epic way, the end always gets me when he’s standing amongst his people after finally escaping and being free.
The voice casting in this movie is epic, let alone the animation, story telling and (imo) one of the greatest contributions to song/score of all time. Please react to Tucker and Dale vs Evil sometime soon!!
This is my all time fav animated movie and I rewatched it today, and I swear every time i watch it I fall deeper in love with this movie and I always flipping cry. This movie cemented my faith in the Lord and it will always be my fav. Plus the soundtrack is incredible.
Moses was 40 when he left Egypt and lived 40 years in Midian. He lived 40 years in the wilderness and died at 120 as the nation of Israel was led into the land of Canaan by Joshua.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, knowing what was going on beforehand--this is probably Dreamworks' masterpiece. The animation and style were so ahead of their time when this came out, and the care they put into it is evident. The music is so amazing!
I Love this.. feels like intorducing my all time fav childhood movies to new people and getting excited once again as if I was the one watching it for the first time......ATLANTIS - THE LOST EMPIRE next pleeeaseee
Glad you noticed the Egyptians who left with them, if you remember from the Bible, when God was taking the Firstborn, the blood on the doors applied to anyone, Moses warned everyone so if an Egyptian believed and put blood on their doorframe they would also be spared.
“If you failed on ‘Prince of Egypt’, you were sent to the dungeons to work on ‘Shrek.’ ” - Dreamworks Animator who worked during the production time for Prince of Egypt and Shrek
Fun fact: God's voice is a mixture of all the male voice actors but Val Kilmers voice (Moses) is the most dominant because his voice resonated on a different frequency to the others so it was more clearly heard.
One pretty big creative liberty they took making this film was Moses' brother, in the Bible, Moses didn't know how to talk to Pharaoh, so his brother and one of his most loyal followers did the talking when they went to confront him.
And the fact that Aaron was one of the absolute first to follow Moses when he came back to Egypt to free the Hebrews, not like how he resists and disbelieves Moses in the movie
I’m an atheist and this movie made me feel as though I was moved spiritually to better appreciate, and more importantly, respect people’s faith in their religious beliefs.
My parents took me to the theater when I was a kid. I remember there were hundreds of people in line by Christian and faith. They enjoy watching “The Prince of Egypt”
I think this is one of the greatest movies of all time. It's a masterclass in cinematography, scoring, animation, and storytelling; it's visually stunning, emotionally gripping, and epic in a way that still gives me shivers to this day. I'm not religious (for a myriad of reasons) and I still reccomend this movie to everyone, regardless of their beliefs or background. It's too good to be missed. Anyways, it was wonderful to see you guys singing along and getting so immersed in the film, and I gotta say, I love that how your guys' faith made you even more enthusiastic - I've never seen a group of dudes get so respectfully hype in the way you did, and it made me smile. I've also seen a couple requests floating around the comment section asking you to view other animated films that I happen to hold near and dear to my heart - namely "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Atlantis: The Lost Empire". Personally, I think you'll get A LOT out of "Hunchback", and I'm immensely excited to see how you'll react to the movie's villain. The soundtrack for "Hunchback" is very much on the same level as "The Prince of Egypt" - especially the a few of the more dramatic tracks. "Atlantis" is a good movie, but if I had to rank them, I'd put "Hunchback" above it, for sure. Then again, maybe you guys will really like some of the action sequences in "Atlantis"; I know you didn't like "Kung Fu Panda 2" as much as "Kung Fu Panda", which honestly blows my mind (2 is usually everyone's favorite of the trilogy, and my favorite too!) so hey, I could be totally off in my prediction! That aside, I wanted to go ahead and suggest another movie - "Treasure Planet". Like "Atlantis", it's considered one of Disney's hidden gems - awful advertising did the movie SUPER dirty at the box office, and as a result, Disney kicked it to the curb. Despite that, it's slowly managed to get the love and recognition it deserves over the past couple decades. Whichever one of those three films y'all end up watching first (if you do them at all, of course!), I'll definitely be around ^-^
I love this movie! You guys should definitely watch “Joseph the King of Dreams” it’s another dreamworks movie based on the Bible scripture of Joseph. I’m sure you guys would love that one too. The music isn’t as good as this one but the story is great.
Ron Wyatt (the man who found the crossing site while on vacation diving with his son). Nuweiba Beach (the actual crossing site of the Red Sea). Horse bones, golden chariot wheels, and an underwater raised land bridge or part of the ground that was higher than the rest where people crossed when the water was parted (what was found).
18:10 the pharaoh didn’t order the soldiers to kill all the first born Jews. He ordered to have all the baby boy Jews killed and thrown into the Nile. Moses is the youngest sibling and Aaron is the oldest.
Seti was given a prophecy that a Hebrew would rise up against him and end his empire. That is why he ordered all the first born Hebrew sons to be murdered that year. Little did he know that god had placed Moses in his very house. In the bible Moses had a stutter and was not able to communicate very well with the Hebrews. Aaron acted like his interpreter. This movie is one of the best bible to film adaptations, and of course watching it now as an adult i can see the issues with it from a religious standpoint (like every Egyptian firstborn dying in egypt followed by a song about miracles is a bit on the nose) but it's still one the best traditionally animated films in history. Loved your reaction! :)
I love that they showed several Egyptians throw down their weapons and leave with the Hebrews. That's exactly as it happened in the Bible. And anyone who believed in the God of Israel became one of His people.
Pharoah's daughter (his wife in this film) kept Moses because the Egyptians believed the Nile was a god. She would have considered the child a literal gift from the river god. Moses means "drawn out." His full Egyptian name may have been "Hapimoses" meaning "Drawn out from Hapi (the river god)," similar to how Rameses (or Ramoses) means "Begotten by Ra (the sun god)." The Hebrews would never honor a false god of Egypt, so perhaps they shortened his name to just "Moses." Or maybe that was always his name. Either way, the history is fascinating and the film is excellent.
just found your channel..I have seen a lot of reactions to this movie, but seeing it being reacted to by brothers in Christ was soooooo awesome! you guys know your Bible! If you haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge, I highly recommend.

Moses is the son of the Pharoah and the queen. Also, his mother didn't question the baby in the basket, because she thought it was a gift from the gods.
The beauty of the Passover is that God did not pass over judgement based on if those inside the house were worthy, but rather if they were covered by the blood of the lamb. Praise Jesus!
Indeed. There were few Hebrews who refused to believe and heed the Warning by Moses; they were not spared. Simultaneously those Egyptians who did heed Moses’ warning and painted their doors with lamb’s blood; were spared.
Something that isn’t directly spoken about in this film is that the last plague. God tells Moses whatever Rameses wishes upon the Hebrews/Israelites shall instead be placed upon the people of Egypt. This is why Moses was so desperate to stop Rameses from speaking at 44:08
This film holds a special place in my heart. I grew up watching this film, and during the Covid lockdown, I was blessed to be one of the fans to appear in the special fan video performance of When You Believe from the West End musical performance of The Prince of Egypt. I highly recommend Joseph: King of Dreams, Atlantis, The Hunchback of Norte Dame, El Dorado, Sinbad, and Treasure Planet. 🧡💙
43:06: There's actually more to it than that. He's sitting on the lap of his father's statue, like he did when he was younger. He finds comfort in his father's influence and still thinks what he's doing is right. Rameses looks up to his father and doesn't want to appear weak in front of his subjects, especially his son. His stubborness and pride allowed his kingdom to be ravaged by the plagues, thus he became the weak link.
One of Dreamworks greatest creation. Cast is amazing I mean they got Val Kilmer and Ralph Fiennes for Moses and Rameses. As for the slavers who dropped their weapons and went well most of the workers didn’t agree with what was being done but it was a tradition that had always been. To break tradition requires a lot of willpower from a lot of people.

Near, I never knew that
I’m glad their are still young people who are interested in biblical stories! 👍🏽
Always
There always will be
27 yo Grown up in black church, I've seen this movie 1000x. Love it every time....when you said. "But it's not just one man. It's one man with God." The simplest thing so powerful. Spoke to me right now as I've been alone for 3 years nursing in the pandemic.....thx 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.
100% God is always by your side when you need him and ask for him.
It’s such a great film for Dreamworks and I adore everyone who loves it 😊
Did you go to church?
Yeah, this movie has just been done so well that it doesn't matter if we believe or not, we can't do anything but love it. It's simply a masterpiece.
@@agot7fan855 yep! I did go to church. Mostly, when it came to my Grandmother (RIP ❤)
@@FedericaCorradino Exactly. It’s a near perfect film 👍
This movie brought Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey together. That’s a classic just off that alone

I’m not religious but I love and respect this movie and story immensely.
Likewise. You don't need to personally be religious to respect this film and the positive values it espouses. Beautiful film -- one of my absolute favorites.
I have a different religion but I honestly love the movie
@@nattyboh2944 Positive values such as: Killing thousands of innocent civilians because a ruler won't co-operate.
I am an atheist and I think this movie is absolutely stunning. I don't practice any religion but I love learning the stories. So beautiful.
Orange-shirt guy in the middle is me every time I hear “Through Heaven’s Eyes”-well, except I’m also crying.
Being an ardent Catholic Christian myself, I watched this movie with my family three nights ago. My sister didn't want it at first, as she thought it would be a cheap, boring Biblical movie. By the end of the opening she was already crying her heart out at this masterpiece, along with all of us.
Are you Catholic or Christian?
@@masegomoerane4975 stop. Catholics are the first Christians. There is no either or about it.
Late to reply but that scene makes me tear up every time, praise God almighty
I'm so glad you watched this movie. Even if you're not a Christian, the movie is amazing and the soundtrack is lit
In my opinion a truly good Christian movie is one that bridges the gap, even if you don’t believe in the core part of the movie if you enjoy the story regardless then it’s a perfect Christian movie.
My family and I watch this movie every year on Passover. And I cry EVERY TIME! Such a good movie!!!
If you liked this, you’ll love the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Easily one of Disney’s darkest films with hands down the best music. It’s visually stunning as well
We will
When i see Moses mother, when she sings the river song, i'm thinking of my own mother. I wonder where she is. I hope she's still alive. 💔
7:42 Voldemort no nose. Funny part is Ramses's VA is actually Ralph Fiennes. same guy that played Voldemort.
Moses was 40 when he left Egypt and lived 40 years in Midian. He lived 40 years in the wilderness and died at 120 as the nation of Israel was led into the land of Canaan by Joshua.
My moment in this reaction? "There's only one (God)" - in unison, by all of you, at the same time. Smiles to my face. 😀
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it, knowing what was going on beforehand--this is probably Dreamworks' masterpiece. The animation and style were so ahead of their time when this came out, and the care they put into it is evident. The music is so amazing!
It’s crazy how long ago it was released
I Love this.. feels like intorducing my all time fav childhood movies to new people and getting excited once again as if I was the one watching it for the first time......ATLANTIS - THE LOST EMPIRE next pleeeaseee
We will 😊
Deliver Us gives me chills whenever i hear it. Song is the best Disney song ever hands down 🙏
It is absolutely amazing but Dreamworks made the movie, not Disney:) Dreamworks also made Shrek and the road to Eldorado, all amazing:)
This is Dreamworks, not Disney.
Glad you noticed the Egyptians who left with them, if you remember from the Bible, when God was taking the Firstborn, the blood on the doors applied to anyone, Moses warned everyone so if an Egyptian believed and put blood on their doorframe they would also be spared.
Masterpiece right here. This and Lion King are the greatest animated films of all time
I like your reactions. I've always loved this movie ever since i was little. I'm crying every time i watch this. 😭💔
Amazing movie 🙌🏿
This is the one movie that the constant talking actually made me mad..
“If you failed on ‘Prince of Egypt’, you were sent to the dungeons to work on ‘Shrek.’ ” - Dreamworks Animator who worked during the production time for Prince of Egypt and Shrek
That’s a win-win scenario IMO
This movie is a masterpiece.
I was laughing so hard at your commentary, though. 😂😂😂
The woman that sings Deliver Us in the start of the movie, Moses's mother, sang that song in 19 different languages! She was amazing!
Fun fact: God's voice is a mixture of all the male voice actors but Val Kilmers voice (Moses) is the most dominant because his voice resonated on a different frequency to the others so it was more clearly heard.
I’m not Christian or even monotheistic, but I absolutely love this film. Always have and always will! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
27:29 Moses lived in midian for about 60 years. He went back to Egypt when he was in his 80s and he died when he was 120
the years were counted diferent
Agreed
Here’s the trailer: th-cam.com/video/00srDTJp51I/w-d-xo.html
Fun fact: both Moses & Joseph are voiced by actors who have played Batman Val Kilmer & Ben Affleck respectively
very great reaction. you 3 are handsome and emotionally intelligent. loved this reaction and love this movie so much! It's a masterpiece.
3:38- God rest Ofra Haza's soul. She had the voice of an angel.🙏
AkaFake news o'clock
18:10 the pharaoh didn’t order the soldiers to kill all the first born Jews. He ordered to have all the baby boy Jews killed and thrown into the Nile. Moses is the youngest sibling and Aaron is the oldest.
BRO I WAS LITERALLY GONNA SEARCH FOR PRINCE OF EGYPT REACTIONS WHEN YOURS POPPED UP ON MY HOME PAGE this is perfect timing!!

I often think about how there must have been some Egyptians begging their pharaoh to end this and it falling on deaf ears.
Have watched 7 different reactions to this movie. Yours is definitely at the top.
Great reaction guys :)
Its truly a beatiful movie. I got shown this movie to me as a kid, when I was growing up in a religious home.
Many memories.
I always cry with the final song
Didn't win an Oscar for nothing!
Was a toddler when I first saw this, became obsessed with it, and have loved it ever since. Still listen to the soundtrack on Spotify.
just found your channel..I have seen a lot of reactions to this movie, but seeing it being reacted to by brothers in Christ was soooooo awesome! you guys know your Bible! If you haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge, I highly recommend.

Thank you 🥺
The Nile was sacred for the egyptians back then so it is natural that the Pharaoh's wife welcomed Moses
Yeah when I first Experience this Movie is a Awesome Masterpiece inspirational with a Powerful Vibe I would Rated Ten Stars. After I watched the Movie I had an Idea too watch AkinReacts Reactions had me Blood Pumped up Vigorously I Loved it in Mesmerization!!.
this movie is actually pretty biblically accurate and it’s just brilliant i love it!
Don’t know if anyone else answered but you asked how long it was before he came back to Egypt, and I think it around 30 to 40 years.
The singing was adorable!! More musicals please!
Adorable and hilarious 😂
Soundtrack gives me chills EVERYTIME
Moses is the son of the Pharoah and the queen. Also, his mother didn't question the baby in the basket, because she thought it was a gift from the gods.
The beauty of the Passover is that God did not pass over judgement based on if those inside the house were worthy, but rather if they were covered by the blood of the lamb. Praise Jesus!
It's Yahawashi!
Indeed. There were few Hebrews who refused to believe and heed the Warning by Moses; they were not spared.
Simultaneously those Egyptians who did heed Moses’ warning and painted their doors with lamb’s blood; were spared.
Grew up watching this I remember watching it on tape and I love it and I'm an Atheist
Also love Moses facial hair
This movie always makes me cry.
To break tradition requires a lot of willpower from a lot of people.
lmao when you sing at the end you had me dying ! I love this movie so much
