"They make clicking sounds" bro they can scream. My wife tried to pick a bit of substrate off the base of ours tail and she scared him. He legit screamed as he ran away.
I once had mine run up my shirt sleeve and she screamed when I reached up to get her. She was the most vocal Leo I’ve known, she’d chirp when she wanted to be handled or after she ate and laid her belly on a warm piece of slate. I miss her
as someone who owns a tokay gecko they are amazing. super angry all the time but are great to watch in their enclosure. good eaters as well they hardly refuse meals.
@@WickensWickedReptiles We are counting on it. I do wonder if someone could do box turtles, green rough snakes, garters and NC anoles, and a few frogs..They would really need their own room though!
Leachies were my bucket-list animal, and I was able to pick one up about four years ago. In my limited experience, they are simply beyond awesome, but they take a lot of effort. It took a long time to really gain her trust, and a leachie's bite is no joke. I got nailed once, and she refused to let go for about half an hour. Nothing I could do but just sit back and watch the blood flow. But it's only been three or four times amid thousands of interactions. If you put in the time, they are very rewarding pets. I'll put in a quick shout-out to Leapin' Leachies powder. Lots of protein, which is great because my leachie won't touch feeder insects.
The reptile that started my love for reptiles in general was a crested gecko I still have today! I love geckos and have always wanted a chewie! I now have 2 leopard geckos and two cresties and they're rad! But aren't all geckos?! Great vid Adam!

I do love my leachie, but I'll say, it's not so much defensive with them as much as territorial. I'll be grabbing her waterdish and she'll climb down towards my hand getting huffy

Hey man you said a leopard gecko should get 45 ish grams for females and 60 for males, I have a 74 gram female who is actually very very skinny and a healthy male who’s 95 grams, my female doesn’t wanna eat anything at all, previous owner mistreated them both so I’m trying to fix up the female, the male is pretty okay, what can I do to get her to eat?
I like all the geckos. But i when i was in Bali the tokay gecks were everywhere. That sound they make is so cool. Maybe in the future, i will at one to the collection. Thanks for the great video sir!
I've had a crested gecko for many years and he's my bestie. He's grown very social and will come to the front of his cage when he hears me. So overall I'm pretty optimistic about my ability to "tame" geckos so I personally would love a leechie gecko some day
Hey guys, I got a problem with my crested gecko. He is almost 3 years old now and I got him when he was about 6 months. Till the age of 2 and a half he was always very handleable and really liked my presence. But the last few months he suddenly became very skittish and is scared of me even while only opening the door to his bioactive enclosure. It is at the point now, that he sometimes takes of running and even jumps out of his enclosure. The humidity and heat in his terrarium seem fine and he is still maintaining a good weight and eats normal. Do you have any ideas what could cause this behaviour? I would love some suggestions on what to do to lower his stress level.
6:33 Yes! 👏🏾Tokay Geckos are my favourites for their visual beauty. 😍 10:30 LOL at Aria(?) taking the New Caledonia Giant Gecko out of Trish's hair! 😲😆 11:00 Easy question, Tokays are my favorite geckos. 🔵🟠
Tokays can actually be really sweet and not hard to tame out as long as you get a captive bred baby and have patience with it bc they are highly intelligent for geckos, it blew my mind but so many people especially on Reddit play with their tokays like leopard geckos
I’m currently making a 2x2x4 cage for a lichie gecko the only problem is I herd that they don’t make good bioactive or planted cage animals because they are so large, but I’ll figure it out I hope
Prices are going down a lot on all New Caledonia geckos, I got my leachie from a local reputable store for $550 (USD) and I’ve been seeing them on morph market in the $400-$500 range thankfully. They’re absolutely amazing and he’s right up there with my chohua as my 2 favorite animals I own (non dog animals)
My leachie (his name is raisin) is an angel hes only bit me once (i was giving him meds) I think everyone underestimates how LOUD they are. He lives in my bedroom and i swear he sounds like a little demon.

I got to hold two leachies at Animal Trax in Madison Al. I was so in awe. 🦎My garg would have been an appetizer for one of these! My favorite gecko species would be a gargoyle and a leopard gecko. I'd love a big carrot tail ,but plan to adopt a leo from Animal Trax who needs a home.

in one video you said you have dogs right? How do you make sure that all your different pet species don't harm each other when they are out of their enclosures?
I just got a leachie gecko 2 days ago. She’s around 3 months old so she’s pretty tiny. I can’t wait for her to get bigger! I also have a leopard gecko too
Would've loved to see uroplatus lineatus and henkeli they are very unique and about the same size as fimbs and giganteus. I also think sikorae, saimeti, guentheri, allaudi, and pietshmanni are about the size of leopard geckos.
Thanks for a great video! I have several large species of gecko and enjoy each one. Though I fill say that Tokays are my favorite and I have yet to be bit. I say yet because it is bound to happen at some point. I really must thank 'The Tokay Whisperer' I have learned much from his videos.
