Amazing 24 Hour Mechanical Clock number roll over

Old 1953 electromechanical clock with rolling digits.
I picked this clock up in the USA for 10 Bucks.
The 110V60Hz motor was faulty. (hence a low price)
The clock is currently driven by a small 12 volts DC motor to see if the mechanism works well, and it does, albeit lots too fast.
Very interesting how the numbers change over from 23:59 hours to 24:00 hours and up to 00:00 hours.
Currently looking for a 240V50Hz synchronous motor and gearbox which output shaft makes one revolution in 15 seconds.

What is kind of funny is if you happened to look at the clock just after midnight, it could report 28:00.

That is a nice find, maybe use a stepper motor, it is possible to regulate the speed to match exact timing of the mechanics, I'm not sure how accurate the off-the-shelf synchronous motors with gearboxes are, but some 4rpm ones should work also.

I have the clock going with a microwave platter motor at 4 RPM. It still looses about 1 minute a day as the motor slips during hour roll overs. Been going perfect for over a year and the minute adjustment is easy.

Why is 23:59 to 24 25 26 27 28 29?

This is a mechanical clock, to go to the 0 (zero) when the numberwheel is on 3 it has to go through all the remaining numbers to get back to the zero. On a simple LCD ore LED clock the divider IC will deal with the number change. The Italian made Solari Cifra 5 and Cifra 12 clocks will do it exactly the same way, although the numbers flip over a lot faster.

24 hour time seems only logical for reporting to someone, It's not often I'd ask a sheila to be there by 21 hundred or miss out!
From the plethora of experience in your lifetime, what is the most common fault seen on the mechanical meters? Do the little motors burn out first or the mechanical workings dry out? Some female relationships I've had turned out a similar way haha.

Odd that common usage varies. It used to be the same here in the UK, but now most people speak 24hr in my expreience. (local filling station: open 0600 to 2330 for example)
America really doesn't handle the 24hr clock well, unless it's the military
