Before you do all this go to your lg OLED inputs and edit them. Click the console picture for your gaming inputs and change it to the laptop looking symbol. This unlocks black level auto on older lg OLEDs so you don't need to manually switch levels to match games that utilize either full RGB (non hdr content) or yuv422 (hdr content)
Then go to your ps5 hdr settings, 14 clicks for first two settings, max black for last setting, set dtm to on, hgig isn't properly utilized by MOST games.
After you do this go ahead and set your ps5 hdr to on when supported, make sure 1440p is enabled otherwise games that get downscaled will revert to 1080p. You can see this under your supported ress and when you scroll to 1440p it'll either show you all things available or say test your screen. Once enabled go ahead and change resolution back to auto since it'll show 1440p instead of auto or 4k.
Change lg OLED audio output to cinema.
Change cold/warm level on lg OLED picture settings to something on the slightly warmer side. Something like warm 1 if you only have 2 warm choices or something like warm 5-10 if you have 20 settings.
Disable any ai enahncements or power saver modes on the tv.
Enable 3d audio in PS5 audio settings. Leave level to 0

Hello, I have an LG OLED 55B97LA and in most videos there is talk of it, you should make 14 clicks during HGIG calibration until the sun is no longer visible, in the first two steps! However, I only need 11-12 clicks and the sun is no longer visible. (Depending on whether I set it during the day or in the evening, of course). Do I still have to make 14 clicks or are these 11-12 clicks also sufficient? I would appreciate an answer in this regard :)

Appreciate the work you put in to help make sense of all the HDR adjustments available between consoles and the games themselves.
What I don’t like though is that HDR requires this much adjustment on a system or game menu level at all. It creates so much variability when HDR was described as a signal that provides precise values at varying brightness levels so that your picture is more accurate and needs less tinkering to look correct.
It’s put me off from using it at all and just sticking with sRGB, especially when in game sliders are so obtuse in what they do at times and make me question the accuracy of it all to begin with.
I’m not an “HDR is a gimmick” person, but why can’t a display’s Nit output capability just be part of the EDID and your media device just outputs in kind what it can do; same with supporting HDR10/Dolby Vision etc. I have a LG B7 and C1, but to this day still find all of this annoying to grapple with to get an accurate image in HDR. Sorry for the ranting post, and thanks again for the videos.

What setting you use on your C1?

    • @michaelgriffith8472
      @michaelgriffith8472 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Sergio-th7os I use HGIG and ensure I use as many clicks as necessary to just make the “sun” go away on the bright screens, and the same on the black screen. Can’t recall the exact amount of clicks at the moment.
Bigger issue with my C1, which I think I’m going to call LG and put a ticket in about, is when using an i1 Display Pro and Calman some setting changes do nothing, i.e. on 20 pt white balance, 70%, I’ll try to adjust the Red level and even with massive changes to the control nothing happens when I update my reading in Calman.

I know I'm resurrecting a 1 year old video but I really need some help. My TV is 1000nits peek brightness so I figured it would be 15 clicks for both the 1st and 2nd screens on the PS5 calibration screen. Well on the first screen, the sun doesn't fully disappear until 20 clicks but the second screen does at 15. Should I go 20/15/0 as the PS5 calibrator suggests or go 15/15/0 as the HDR guide here suggests? (Even though the sun is still showing on the 1st screen)

Regarding " the sun doesn't disappear until the 28th click and disappears on the 18th click on the second screen" it could be related to X-Tended Dynamic Range set to 'High' in Game Mode.

I used the chart like you suggest and the sun does not disappear or isn't even barely visible,I'm on an LG nano85 with 550 nits
So I set the first and second value for 12
But the sun does not disappear until the last value which is strange
    Do you have an explanation?

Does your TV supports HGiG? If not then it is normal that the Sun is not disappearing. 12 clicks should be fin for your TV. Maybe 11

Amok, thank you for all that you do. Your videos are the the first thing I seek upon new releases. For games that allow fine tuning of HDR in-game, will your settings differ on a LG G1/EVO panel set? To my understanding the peak brightness is a tad higher which always makes me think I should make my maximum brightness slider higher. Am I correct or am I just hurting my overall picture quality?

I need help with the Philips 48 OLED 707/12 in HGiG mode. The PS5 HDR calibration still shows the outline of the sun. After 12 clicks the inner portions of the sun go away. If I set HDR perfect to MINIMUM instead of HGiG then the sun will completely disappear after 15 clicks. What is happening!?

    1,088 cd/m² and Peak 10% Window
    1,357 cd/m².
For HDR it's Real Scene Highlight
    1,810 cd/m² and Peak 10% Window
    1,470 cd/m²

My TV turns white with 17 touches with dynamic mapping (about 1295 nits), and with 13 touches without dynamic mapping (about 735 nits)... But the manufacturer says that the model has 330 nits. But giving it 8 touches (353 nits), it's still a long way from the square turning white. How much should I leave?

@@maddog_04 Yes. It was found that the TV does light dynamic processing even with mapping disabled, so it's better to use dynamic mapping. But a professional calibration showed that the ideal for it is 15 touches on white and 3 on black. And some changes to the 20 white dots in advanced settings.
