- Who and where did My Sharona come from? This three part documentary of My Sharona's derivative and Knack history gives us more than enough insight to digest. Check out the "real" Sharona and where she is today. Legendary rare footage of the late Bruce Gary, Knack's drummer, is a must see! We love you Bruce!!
One of the best guitar solos in rock history! Radio stations should never cut it short but they always do. Grrrr!
The solo is great, but even better is the way the drums build behind it. Phenomenal track
Radio went from being God's gift to listeners, to being nearly worthless!
Definitely one of best guitar solo’s ever played and heard.

Assolo unico e irripetibile! Chitarrista incredibile
One of the best riffs (drums, bass, rhythm and lead) I've ever heard. It's one of those riffs that I can't get enough of.
“The fun times were before we made it. Once we made it, it became a drag”. - the late Bruce Gary 🥁
As a fan, I say what a shame. Regardless, the Knack is still one of my favorite bands of all time.
One of the best guitar solos ever recorded. Too bad there wasn't a follow-up. Also, Bruce Gary was one of a kind. I set up my own drums to mimic his kit because he had everything separated and the kick drum was off to his right and not centered.
The Knack has lots of great songs
Lionheart Roar ,yes! Zoom and Round Trip are very undervalued albums. My Sharona was so HUGE that people forget about the other songs.
@@jasona9round trip fantastico album oltre i primi due
Miss you Doug and Gary!
at the end of this clip, Bruce Gary is describing Doug Fieger's ego trip that helped destroy the group. He was the only one who wouldn't return to the group when they re formed simply because he couldn't work with Fieger. Now they're both gone. Hope they make up in the afterlife. Two incredible talents!
RubHerSoul1 just like Gilmour and Waters
@@bonoyass those two buried the hatchet 12 yrs ago
I remember this too seeing it on tv.
Reminded me of the early Beatles dressed in black and white, but then with a great newer rock n roll song.
That guitar solo is just awesome.
Zac Brown Band
I hadn't any idea who they were. We didn't have cable in my small Midwest town. But I loved the album cover and it reminded me of my mom's Meet the Beatles album. I was not disappointed.
My Sharona was a great song but the entire album was amazing. I only had a few current albums so I listened to these over and loved pretty much every song.
This song still make my motor run!!!
Bruce Gary laid the foundation for this song and it just ran from there. That's my puppy Bruce on the thumbnail in ode to him.
Sharona had one of the best guitar solos in history but, IMO Good Girls was their best song.
I like "Your Number Or Your Name" a lot too. Where is Part 3 about "My Sharona"?
These guys were highly skilled musicians🤘🏼
Yes it is, "My Sharona" really hits the charts here @ Philippines way back 80's 90's, RIP Doug Fieger 8.20.1952 - 2.14.2010
We were proud to be a Filipino people supporting the phenomenal music for all times like the sound "My Sharona". The Knack.!!!! We loved you all guys the rock for all times.!!!
I was in Ohio which is a great Classic Rock Radio State and My Sharona came on, after the guitar solo finished I realized that the guitar solo is one of the best in Rock and Roll, sadly under rated as one of the greatest solos on earth.
RIP, Doug Fieger and Bruce Gary!
What a band. They cut a nice template for what I still look for in a band.
Yeah it's a damn shame that sometimes an artist produces something that's so good that it almost dooms them to relative failure for the rest of their time.
Zack Brown Band
The Knack is true talent.
Aces and Eights???What a song!!
Impatto della band nel suo insieme PAZZESCO! Ognuno di loro fenomeni nel loro singolo strumento
Adoro questa band
Hey, I remember seeing this on Dutch tv! Cool!
I can honestly say that My Sharona is one of my least favorite songs on Get The Knack. That album was that good.
Monkey and me is my fave of that album
mike tumulty , I like “Your number or your name”. It reminds me of a rocked-up Buddy Holly song. “Oh Tara” is also a favorite.
First in Italy ( my country) for many many weeks!!!!!!!!
"Get The Knack" was most likely recorded at the Record Plant. Same place Tom Petty and a slew of other artists recorded. Chapman produced Blondie's "Lines" at the Plant.
Thanks for posting this! I can't find Part 1 anywhere, though. Has it not been posted yet?
The album was recorded at MCA Whitney in Glendale
underrated solo
Prescott reminds me of Syd Barrett
I didn't really know what the lyrics were until this year. So I think most people didn't past "My Sharona"
It was yanked due to a copyright claim by WMG. That's what it said on KnackFan's main page on YT.
Thanks. That's too bad.
Anyone else notice the bassist at 1:30 geting a hat chucked at him!
Industry bigwigs know little. They always want the same success, from each song, even if you have to rehash.
Anyone know in which studio they recorded "My Sharona"?
They said it in part 1
Pleased they all seem to be living in nice houses. Glad they made some money and didn't lose it.
@taegooksaram Have you had any success finding part 1/3...I only found a lame cover under the would-be title...
Great rock tune, but I don't see the connection with New Wave, at least not as it is defined in Europe. To me, it was 80 % rock, the other 20% closer to American punk, think Ramones, Blondie etc than New Wave. Having said that, whatever the right label is, this song rocks, and it was something very different than heard before. It definetely deserved its n° 1 status. Recently discovered with a serious delay the Serioud Fun albuw, wow, that one too is quite cool, surprised to see it didn't do that well (judging from the number of thumbs up here on TH-cam) I guess all the teenage girls from the My Sharona era were married by that time, and rather concentrating on the adventurous behaviour of their toddlers than on the band's new release....
Sorry, it was up, but TH-cam took it down for some reason.
What’s interesting is to compare the success these guys and My Sharona to any number of giant hits by the Beatles.
“ The Knack” had one. The Beatles had...lots!
Sorry, TH-cam took down Part 1
The original Power Punk band. Way ahead of Green Day.
Doug era pure sexy
Eppure baby talks dirty era STUPENDA
Why does everyone talk over guitar solo.
It's the riff not the lyrics
