Love this stitch. I have knit the same way on the back row and it makes a really nice texture that I can use on moebius cowls - perfect for that. 4 options in the one stitch with purl back, same on back - and offset or not! Many thanks for sharing this
I think : cast on an even number of stitches plus 2 for edge, knit the first stitch normally then 2 stitches together and again through back loop, as in the video, end with one edge stitch wich you knit. I think the wrong side you must purl all the stitches, and repeat those two rows. Kind greetings from Marie in France 💐💐💐
sir ur tutorials r awesome , but I request u to include the lace charts in ur website , as it is easy to understand by using charts ....thanku so much sir ..Happy knitting
would have been better if you had shown how to do the back side even if it is "just" a stitch demo. The stitch needs to be demonstrated completely, not just half.
OK i looked this stitch up in my knitting stitch encyclopedia (book) and it requires an even number of stitches. As for the off rows, they are purled. And I agree, this video is terrible. I mean how much harder would it have been to incluse this information in the video?
The stitch is simple and explained ok. However, he already had stitches on his working needle so it was only by watching the video that I realised that the row starts in this way. What really ticked me off was no comment on the second row. So thank you to the lady who looked this stitch up to discover that you purl back. Terrible video.
I watched the video and I went to the link that is posted beneath the video, and I followed the intstructions that were posted on the bottom of the page but it didn't really look right or how it supposed to look like. Is it possible for you to post a pattern video please ?
***** New Stitch a Day: Knitting and Crochet Video Tutorials 10 months ago in reply to Fey3690 yes. this is just a technique video, we were not demonstrating the pattern shown in the swatch, just the gather stitch. I was talking about the pattern in the swatch.
This is not a right twist. The right twist is a mock rib. This is different. The purpose of this video, like all of our technique videos and many of the ones you make similar comments on, is to explain how to do a specific abbreviation. It is not a pattern stitch intended to make a specific look fabric, it is a piece of the puzzle.
Possibly the worst knitting stitch video I've ever seen. Stitch multiples? How many to cast on? And you didn't start from the beginning of the row -- did you use an edging? Do you offset the next time you do a pattern row? (Knit one first, then do your twist?) Work the off-rows in purl? When you turn your work, what do you do-- knit? Purl? Keep doing this twist?

To offset, on row 3, you would K1, THEN go into the pattern stitch, and end K1 at the end of the row. P back.
how many stitches do you cast on
Any multiple of two. Can't believe he didn't give full instructions with this.

I'm not understanding. We already have a video . . . You just commented on it.

yes. this is just a technique video, we were not demonstrating the pattern shown in the swatch, just the gather stitch.

How do you offset??
What needles do you use? The name....
A vintage pattern called Rain stitch. There are modern varients.
What next? Do you just purl the off row? And could we see it if it's not offset? It's also otherwise known as the right twist.
This is not a right twist. The right twist is a mock rib. This is different.

right twist is more like a mini cable
The link doesn't work :(
Someone said it's also known as "right twist". No, this is completely different. Definitely NOT same as right twist stitch.

Please show us the wrong side !!
