Well done, so wonderful to see someone who is trying with a not so perfect horse and improving. Gives the rest of us hope. Keep up the good work

Lovely video. Matts horse is beautifully soft and stretchy! What a dream! It’s always nice to see the everyday rider try these dressage masterclasses. More attainable for us amateurs 😂! Teds lovely, so much potential 🥰

I LOVED THIS! xx Just a couple notes on reward from an instructor & NHMS trainer (Natural Horsemanship) . This is by no means anything negative - just positive assistance observations! I love it when people help point out things that I don't see in my riding. In no way is this me telling you how to ride - as you ride bloody well xxx These are all things that I have learnt & teach on the daily.
    1. Rewatch Matts lower leg when walking relaxed and then note how yours is a lot stiffer - try loosening your hips a little and allow them more "sway" with the horses walking movement. Also note and take lots of deep breaths and this will help your horse calm down naturally much quicker. It regulates both your heart rates. When we ride our horses heart rate becomes ours and vice versa.
    2. When rewarding Ted on the halt - ask him to halt & instead of patting immediately (the pat being the acknowledgement reward that he's waiting for) - try counting to three...then five... then 10 etc (build up the wait in intervals) before giving them the "release" and this will help you achieve a halt & wait without the step through a lot quicker too.
    3. Your shortening & lengthening was spot on. Really great visual example of what to do here! xxx
Thank you for this lovely video. I am always looking for visual material such as this to send to my students in theory. xxx

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. You may like some of my recent videos and my upcoming video this Friday - it's with my new osteopath and she talks a lot about the tightness in my hips! I've been doing a lot of work lately on trying to improve my symmetry etc through yoga etc

Hey! Sure, I do this kind of video with Horse & Country TV. I love Half Halt Equestrian for stylish clothes (code AMRR for 5% off new collection) and Equus England has a huge range, use code BARD10 for 10% off. Both ship to the US! X
