Put your dog on a leash! It also protects your own dog.

So many dog owners are just a$$holes. Unleashed or not picking up after them or noise or not taking care of them properly

Oh yeah, a lot of poop everywhere even on playgrounds where kids play. They have no respect for children or any other individuals. They create a health hazard for everyone.

Some poeple are irresponsible bordering on idiotic. If your dog bites a child or adult the outcomes can be tragic. If you truly love your pet, don't allow it to attack anyone.

People are so judgmental and ignorant. I own an American pit bull terrier. He is the sweetest friendliest dog that would never bite anyone. I take my dog to the children's splash pad at the park. I never put my pit bull on a leash. One mother at the park was all mad at me, suggesting my "fighting dog" is dangerous and should be on a leash. My dog, Chewy, is great with old people and children and only ever bit someone once. Someone had the nerve to pet Chewy when he was sleeping. Otherwise, Chewy is the sweetest dog ever. People are so ignorant.

@@Ynalaw: In one case i have a friend who owns the sweetest little pitty cross, who's personality hasn't changed since it was a pup.
In another case going back awhile ago, my boss' s girlfriend had a pitbull and it locked onto her face one day and bit her severely.
In another case i witnessed a pitbull in the 1980's, three swings in a park, two children on them, one empty . The pitbull grabbed on to the empty swing and would not let go no matter how the owner tried to get it off. Two or three friends tried to help and it eventually released the swing from its jaw.
If that dog had of grabbed either child , it would have been tragic.
It seems you cannot predict with any guarantee or degree of certainty what will set an animal off. Proper training , yes , socialization, yes , knowing your dog all help to reduce the risk.
Having proper control of your dog is the way too further reduce risks.
Those dogs that bit that lady, they got put down right away, and with good reason. If you truly love your pet, you don't allow it to become a premature casualty of its bad behavior.

99% of dogs aren't really "trained" at all. Most people also think they're dog is a sweetheart that would never hurt a fly. I guarantee you that most dogs will hurt smaller animals if given the chance, many will attack another dog under certain circumstances and more than you think will readily bite a person (especially on outside of their "pack") if they deem it necessary. The mistake people make? They think dogs think like they do, but I guarantee dogs work on a VERY different thought pattern.
