Hi, thank you for this excellent review! Want to ask how does this Aoralscan 3 compare against i600 and against i700? If i would to get a scanner within these 3 model for orthodontic, prosthesis and smile design, what would be a better choice? Thank you!
These 3 scanners are all at different price points. All are very good. Aoralscan 3 = most economical, best Chinese scanner software, fast. Software is not as good as Medit. i600 = second most economical, fast, basically as good as i700. A few features missing. i700 = most expensive out of the three. I would suggest try them all to make a decision. Also check out our reviews: instituteofdigitaldentistry.com/intraoral-scanner-ios-reviews/
@@InstituteofDigitalDentistry in term of scanner clarity, between i600 and aoralscan which would be better in terms of scanner accuracy? Thank you so much for your replied 😊
@@yan5735 Check our reviews for images of the same prep with these scanners. i600 is very similar to i700. It is more clear. Accuracy is not clinically different between Aoralscan 3 and Medit.
I don't think Shining 3d has smile design built into its software. You may need to use additional software to do smile design. Medit has smile design built in.
This has been the most informative video on scanners I have watched to date. I have also viewed your Medit i600 unboxing video. They both seem like they could work for me. Can I get your recommendation on which scanner I should purchase? As an orthodontist, I am looking for a scanner that will best serve my needs which is ONLY to scan 1) for study models, 2) send STL files to a lab for a maxillary expander and 3)make printed models for fabrication of both Essix retainers and aligners. So I am thinking it does not have to have super resolution/accuracy like a crown prep margin would need. I really enjoyed the capabilities of the Aoralscan software in regards to Ortho treatment planning. Does Medit’s i600 have similar software? I didn’t see it in your unboxing video. Thanks again for the great video.
Both work well Salvatore! Shining 3D Aoralscan 3 is slightly cheaper than Medit i600, but the Medit i600 has the advantage of single cable and excellent Medit software (it also does orthodontic simulation). Thanks for the kind words! Keep in touch - happy to help!
Vivo is a scanner that is kind of old tech now. It has been around since 2019. So, although it still works, the Aoralscan 3 is 'newer'. Otherwise, they both scan well and are accurate to be honest. The Vivo has a higher res and sharper scan aesthetic. Both are good scanners. I just recently reviewed the Runyes here: instituteofdigitaldentistry.com/runyes/runyes-3ds-3-0-intraoral-scanner-review/ I think the main difference is the software. Both scan well. Aoralscan 3 has one of the best scanner software available.
Completely different price points. Both work well my friend. Shining is a great entry-level scanner. 3Shape is great for those looking for their ecosystem. They have amazing CAD and AI software. Wireless wise, they both function just fine.
Yes. The most common reason for imprecise scans with intraoral scanners is operator error. This is proven in the literature. The vast majority of mainstream intraoral scans are very accurate for tooth-bourne restorations. Full arch implants are a different story.

Is shining 3D scan good for clear aligner treatment?
Yes the scanning is accurate. The most important thing is the operator and scan strategy used.

Both are good scanners. I just recently reviewed the Runyes here: instituteofdigitaldentistry.com/runyes/runyes-3ds-3-0-intraoral-scanner-review/
I think the main difference is the software. Both scan well. Aoralscan 3 has one of the best scanner software available.
Can you please advice, buying the wireless version of this aoralscan or 3shape ?

is it precise even with scaning many elements (bridge of 12 crowns)?
