    This is impressive, the secret lies in the calibrated dots, I expect to see other companies release similar scanbodies. Nice to see some innovation in dentistry. This scanner paired with the Qlone app make high end digital dentistry affordable for a lot of practices. Will raise the standard of care for all patients.

      I agree. It will be interesting to see what other companies do in response. Cool innovation for sure.

    I would love to see this with 8 impants. How would all these huge scan bodies fit with ought touching or overlapping one another?

      @@InstituteofDigitalDentistry Ok. I am glad you did. But how about implants that are too close to each other? Or what about cases where you have 7 or 8 implants per jaw. Do these scan bodies fit?
      Its great idea overall but looks a bit impractical with such huge scan bodies.

      @@michaelk6957 The width of each is about 5mm and fits on the MUA. I don't see it being a massive issue as there are multiple sizes including short, medium and long.
      Similar to trying to fit photogrammetry flags.

      @@michaelk6957 If implants are very close together you will have an issue placing the icam scan bodies as well. These scan bodies fit as they come in a range of sizes and the most important thing is that they all point towards the centre. I can see your point but with 7 or 8 implants even placing photogrammetry dies either PIC or ICAM is a nuisance.

      I have used medit, 3shape, Zirkonzahn, ivoclar, open technologies dental lab scanners. I ended up buying the DS ex Pro scanner from Shining for my lab.
      All i can say is that Shining makes the best scanners from anything i have seen out there. Just wipes the floor in all features.
      speed, accuracy, software, precision, alignment, size and price!
      Great company, great innovations.

    How can you register the bite relation in a all on x case. Would love to see a tutorial on that. Great video btw

    • @InstituteofDigitalDentistry
      @InstituteofDigitalDentistry  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Either use a previous denture, previous all on x prosthetic (designed prior if they had a normal bite before surgery) or any form of bite registration jig, that can be placed in the mouth to hold the bite at a certain stable VD while also allowing you to scan the buccal aspects.

    I don't quite get how could these scan bodies cover for different implant systems. How do such a small number of scan bodies fit on so many types of multi unit abutments? I'm starting out on edentuoulus scans so maybe there's something I'm missing. And one more question: Is it a limited number of implant systems that's supported by shining 3d or it has all of the systems in there?

    • @MarcosBorges-ux8ox
      @MarcosBorges-ux8ox 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most MUAs have a compatible platform and use the same screw size for different implant systems. The scan bodies just need to sit properly and stay stable during scanning. I will try to find a compatibility chart and post the link here.

      I just found this information on their website: "If the physical connecting interface matches, Shining 3D can add a certain implant scanbody into the software. Possibly many existing implant brands are compatible with existing scanbody kits."
      I guess they need to work a bit on this information as no dentist will buy a photogrammetry device without making sure that it's compatible to the MUAs they use.

      Hello, I'm Gustavo and I'm an Application Engineer at Shining 3D Dental. We do have 30+ implant systems compatible with our coded scanbodies and I guess I could give you a list if you need. In theory, as Marcos mentioned, we can add any multi unit abutment that shares the same screw we use to the list (will need to confirm screw thread and size if the information is required)

    Having used the Aoraolscan elite, If you had to purchase a current scanner for an all on 4 would you get a separate photogrammetry or the all in one Aoral scan? Do you see any short coming with the Elite compared to Medit or 3Shape in scan quality ? Thank you in advance for all the great efforts and knowledge!

    • @InstituteofDigitalDentistry
      @InstituteofDigitalDentistry  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is how I see it. Photogrammetry devices are very costly. If you do a lot of full arch implant work, then it may make sense to get one. You can use any scanner with them, I personally use 3Shape TRIOS 5 + imetric ICAM because I like how T5 scans edentulous. But any scanner can work as long as you find the scanning of full arch bloody sites OK.
      If you do not do a lot of full arch but still need a solution, the Elite is very promising and frankly a very smart move by the company because it is under 20k, and you get a scanner and a way to handle these cases.
      Hope that helps.

      @@InstituteofDigitalDentistry if you’re doing 15-20 arches a month, do you think this is still a good option? Or would you prefer the trios 5 + Icam option? Would love to hear your opinion

    • @InstituteofDigitalDentistry
      @InstituteofDigitalDentistry  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@doctorneilofficial Yes but icam I still feel is the gold standard to beat. I have been doing a number of full arch cases, which I will use the Elite to restore, and I will update our website on how it goes. 15-20 arches a month is far above average, so either way could be good for you. With that number, to me, it probably warrants spending the money for icam, but again, it really depends on how well this performs, which is under testing now.

      @@InstituteofDigitalDentistry I'd love if you compare side by side same case scanned in both ways (meaning with Elite IPG and with Trios5 + icam) and show some comparison (maybe with Medit compare or any other software where you can add, match and overlap different scans together and also get accuracy heat map on them)! 🙏 If you already did that, please let me know what's the link for that video/blog!

    Why can I not buy the intraoral photogrammetry system for my current Trios scanner and not buy the shining scanner? When one company sells the kit and software to work with any scanner that is the one everyone will buy. All we need is DESS to setup or shining to go open system

    I’m really skeptical that this will give you a “passive” bar/restoration across the arch. I think it will easily give you a model that a sectioned verification jig could be fabricated on then modify the analogs and continue on.
