- Easy DIY up-cycling sewing project to turn a hoodie into a sweatshirt with neckband. Use fabric from the hoodie to make a high-neck band and widen the neck opening. This is an easy, useful fix for kids’ garments that are a little tight going over their heads.
thank you for the tutorial! i have so many beautiful hoodies I never wear because the hood annoys me, I’m so excited to turn them into sweatshirts 🥰
thank you for your comment ❣️☺️

Thank you very much for the tutorial. My 5 year old doesn't want a hoodie from the jumper he likes. Now I know how to do. Let me cut those annoying hoodies from his favourite jumpers
That's great! glad I could help🌷☺️
Exactly what I needed! I made the neck a little too big but other than that it worked perfectly.
Great to hear! I also made the neckline too big… probably, it needs to be smaller than we think because it gets stretched out when it’s attached to the neckline…
I am so impressed like how did you even think to use the hoodie. My brain was so confused but maybe one day my creativity will advance
My ideas usually come from my thriftiness and unwillingness to waste a clothing item (= money I’ve already spent) 😂 ! I hope my video wasn’t too confusing.. ❤️
I’m gonna try this on an old hoodie first
Thank you for this tutorial

Gonna try this for my kids ❤

If your neck fits OK (not small) consider doing this for a better look:
1. dont cut the neck, just unstitch to keep most part of the neck possible
2. dont cut further when sewing, do it just on the verge
3. the section of the neck should go from broad in the bottom to tight in the upper part, trerefor you should sew your neckband in an hourglass shape (if possible in both sides left and right instead of only one in the back as you did). make sure the seams are aligned to the ones in the former hoodie
4. remove the pockets if present, they look weird
if you do it this way it will look a lot better.
Love how this turned out! Will this work on an adult sweatshirt?
haven’t tried it, but the principle should work for adult sizes!
i love it, but might do one inch for the neck band. i’m gonna do this with the hoodie i bought that is too big
Hope your project turns out great for you! :)
Hey, is this possible without a overlock maschine? :)
yes! you can use small zig-zag stitch for seaming and big zig-zag stitch for finishing raw edges.
hi thanx for this , really good work its amazing .actually i serach for sweats crew neck from nba , nfl nhl and they'r not so cool but they make a lot of cool hoodies , so i had the idea to do what you show right here , do you think its possible for a s or m size for adult ? i mean i would not do that myself , i would call a seamstress
Thank you so much for your comment! I’m sure a professional seamstress can do something like this to adult size hoodies!
thanks 🌹
You're welcome 😊
I’d cut the neckband exactly the same measurement as the neckline first, then stretch the band as much as it comfortably stretches, then cut off the excess length past the original length. I know it sounds kind of confusing in text… I show this technique in my video about making T-shirts. ☺️
So cute 😘 🥰🤠
thank you! 😊😊
mantap 👍, ini yg saya butuh kn
