Well, that is not remotely how I thought you were going to alter your sweatshirt! I thought you would just make the hood smaller. Since I don't tend to use the hoods on my jackets, I really like your idea of a collar that can be cinched up to make a turtleneck-like collar. Very cool, Tracy!!! This is a 5-star hack! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is such a smart way to make those hoodies comfortably wearable. Thanks for working that out for all of us that didn't work that out for ourselves. I know that there are a lot of people that get frustrated with the actual hood. Thanks again and blessings to y'all.
This is genius! I used your technique today to turn an uncomfortable hoodie with a much-too-big hood into something I will wear. It worked like a charm! Thank you!
Well that is just slick!! oh, and from now on I will be disengaging my seams rather than ripping them...I think the engineer will be impressed. LOL Great Hack, thanks Tracy. 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
This is such a clever idea. I like the idea of having my neck covered, but not having all that hood. I am going to try this hack. Thank you for sharing.
Like what you did. A straw… never thought of that. I grew up in 4H. But never learned how to alter what you already have. Appreciate you sharing. Need to watch more of these. As a short person, my clothes tend to make me look frumpy.
This is an excellent hack! So many cute sweatshirts, but unless it's really super windy, I would never use the hood. That three inches is a perfect height to keep your neck warm! Including when you want to wear it as an inside layer under a rain cover.
Perfect hack especially when trying to sport a shoulder length hair style, or longer. Thanks for your very comprehensive tutorial with a very encouraging demeanor!
Oh you just made my whole 2023 and beyond!!! Every time I get a hoodie I literally take a pair of scissors and just chop it off right above that seam. 😝 I have very long hair and those hoods would drive me bananas!!! Thank you so much Miss Tracy…you made this look so easy…and now I won’t look like I just left the second hand store with my chopped off hoodie. 😂😂😂 you are the bomb digity. Off I go to round up some of my hoodies. Wahoo. 🤗🤗
This is a wonderful idea! I don’t wear hoodies at all, even though so many of them are really cute. Because of disabilities, with chronic pain problems, I have to lay down often to rest. Having the bulky hood at the back of my neck while laying down hurts, and I don’t want to have to change out of my hoodie, only to have to put it back on a few minutes later. So I don’t wear hoodies at all. Now I have a way to wear hoodies; without the hood! Thank you!
Amazing!! I've been avoided buying these kind of goodies.. Which I love.. But I had the same problem like you.. Now to try this hack!! Thanks for sharing!!
That is an absolutely awesome idea! I never wear a hood UP bc I think women of a certain age just look silly with one up! This will make wearing my hoodie sweatshirts much more enticing! Thank youuuu! ☺️
My friend going through chemo is loving her hoodies for when she doesn’t feel like putting on a wig to go out in public. I am almost 60 and if I am cold, I pull up the hood. Others may think I look silly but looking silly and being warm far outweighs being cold :)
@@TheSewingChannel And today, I found a perfect hoodie in my closet to downsize! In fact, in addition to redoing the hood, I'm going to take off the cuffs and shorten the sleeves while I'm at it! Thanks for motivating me!
That is one clever sweatshirt hack, Tracy. I also love your version of a bodkin - who would have thought?!! I always look forward to what you will come up with next❣
"Running to check google for word 'Bodkin'" LOL🤣 Thank you for the kind words Stella❣️ The straw made it super easy because it was bendable all around✅
Wow!!! I have a pink hoodie the hood is super tight compared to the neck hole, it's kinda wierd but I love it except for the goofy hood this is a great idea for it! ♥️
Great minds think alike! This is something that I have been working thru my head lately. It was great seeing how you did it! I think this will be my weekend project. Thanks for posting. I really enjoy your videos!
I absolutely ♥️ this hack!! Living in Texas it rarely gets cold enough for a hoodie with the hood, but this would be perfect!!! Your hacks are great - please keep 'em coming!! Thanks so much!!🧵
Oh My Wonderful Friend! You did it again. I have mid back length hair which drives me crazy stuck ever which way around the hoodie. I do love hoodies and the comfy warmth of them, much more than a regular sweatshirt. You have created a Hoodie collar miracle hack! This is great Tracy!
Good idea but I like a hooded jacket, not a hooded sweatshirt. The hoods are always too big.on the jackets. You have given me the courage to try cutting down the size of the hood. Now, I would love to see a video on making a sweatshirt hoodie into a zippered hoodie! Thanks. Always enjoy your videos.
I love the hack Tracy! What I don’t like about hoodies is that they fall in my face. Too big and I don’t seem to be able to cinch them up around my face ver well. Also, Everyone also loved my quilt I won at Christmas. It is so beautiful! I hated to put it away after Christmas and can’t wait to get it out again! Thanks for your amazing videos. I learn so much from you!
I am in major LOVE with the awesome rainbow colored quilt behind you!! Any information that you can give us? Thanks for the sweatshirt hack! I never wear the hood either!! 😅
Tracy, you’re never going to believe this, but I love Traci and The Fabric Patch too! We’ve gotten to be email pals and I’m going on a quilt retreat in June hosted by her and her daughter. I’m so looking forward to my trip to Ephrata WA! 😊. Too bad you won’t be there cuz we’d have a laughing good ole time. Maybe next time. Thanks for everything, Jane
I can't stand a hoodie; because, I have a short neck. My hair is short. There is too much fabric in a hoodie for me to wear (no matter how big it is). This is a wonderful idea. Thank you for this video.
Wow. Thank you so much for sharing this trick. I had no idea how easy this could be. Well, that is. You made it look very easy. Myself on the other hand may find it a bit of a struggle. LOL I am going to try this some time. BTW. I liked the marking pencil that you used. Can you share more information about that as well? I have all sorts of marking tools in my collection of marking tools. But I noticed that the one you were using worked more like tailors chalk. I have tailors chalk but the flat side gets worn and not so fine of line after a while. The tool you showed us looks like it may keep a fine tailors line all the time? Thank you so much.
That’s what I need a Hoodie!! Tracy, are your hoodies true to size or do they run bigger? I’m not sure I can fit into a 2x as I like clothes bigger on me. Or if you can order larger size that would be awesome. 😊
I have a zipper hoodie jacket unlined hood. So would I cut perhaps a 6 inch width and fold down half to finish it off. Or would that make it too heavy? Thanks Lou
@@TheSewingChannel yes I would use your method but cutting only 3 inches makes the collar single sided, so I was wondering wether 6 inches and fold it in half for a finished look!
