    Personally, as a student and someone who carries a lot of important objects on their person, I find that the Nexx seems extremely functional. The clip with the lanyard hole, although not traditional, is a great innovation. I can't tell you how many people loose their pens in school or outside, (My friend lost his Parker IM and I nearly lost my Cross Bailey a few times, not that we are careless, it just happens). I also love the safari clip. It reminds me of the Spyderco wire Pocket Clips.

    Only had this pen for a few days and I love it! Recently got back into fountain pens and have a beautiful Waterman pen that I've had for years but don't use regularly. I'm currently studying and sitting exams and noticed how awful my handwriting is when I use a biro. Did a lot of research and came across your review of this pen and bought it straight away, have used it quite a lot for my revision notes and it hasn't let me down yet or caused me any discomfort, my Waterman is way too slippery for long term writing! Thank you for your honest reviews - seen your review of the Cross Botanica and now desperately want one of those!

    I mean, I'm not totally in love with the clip, but it's not a dealbreaker for me. If it were a $50 pen, yeah no way. But because it's a solid pen that's even cheaper than the Safari, I can put some of my aesthetic preferences aside and still enjoy this pen.

    I`m thinking that this is the best Lamy out there. Not designwise, but the grip section is great, has good girth, and is not too heavy.
    Lamy pens suffer from poor flow; people who like dry writers will be okay with this, but I personally take out the feed, and widen the capillary canal to increase flow.
    Overall, my favorate Lamy.

    The Green is around, in both versions you see in the video...the orange was discontinued though. I actually never even got one in, it was discontinued before we saw a single one of them. Weird.

    Thank you so much! I appreciate your support for my store, it helps to keep me making videos like these : )

    Yeah, that's normal. Some inks do it more than others, and some pens do it more than others. I just try to wipe the nib as well as I can and get on with writing, a little ink on the nib doesn't phase me.

    I like the hole idea, infact, it would be great that some manufacturer to think about this. but, yeah.. you can totally make a clip design where it still have hole, can still be inserted with some thread or something, BUT, did not gets above the body of the cap. *sigh*

  • @MicheleLHarvey
    @MicheleLHarvey 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    It's unfortunate that while Lamy has perfected their nib and ink system that they haven't chosen to develop a more attractive pen. It remains my only complaint for an otherwise excellent product.

    • @MicheleLHarvey
      @MicheleLHarvey 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BTW, someone could make a lot of money making swappable bodies and caps for the Lamys out of acrylic, celluloid, ebonite etc. Don't know if that would cross any copyrights, but I'd be on board in a heartbeat.

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am willing to bet that would violate patents/trademarks/copyrights somehow. I know Hero basically has done an exact rip-off of the Safari design and Lamy is NOT happy about it. -BrianG

      The Goulet Pen Company I'm sure you're right.
      Only thing left for Lamy to do is make prettier pen bodies.

      perfected their nib and ink system -> disagree with that. And I have like 4, 5 Lamies.
      They are dry, and should provide better flow.

      I think it's the German way of thinking. It's made to work well no look good and quiet frankly I like that about their company. (the Lamy 2000 doesn't look bad nor does the dialog 3)

    Thanks for this video. I decided to get the Nexx M as a small extra gift for someone. Not from your shop unfortunately, because a more local vendor (Europe) made more sense of course. :-)

    How does the rubber hold up after these years? Rubbers when in contact with hand oil for a long time could be gummy and become kneadable eraser for some reason

    • @jbjohnson430
      @jbjohnson430 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know it has been more than a year since you asked this question, but I have had two Nexx M for over 10 years and the rubber is as good as new. They body has few small digs from drops, but that just adds character.

    Yes, hang it on a lanyard! That’s why I got it, and it’s working great. I don’t post so the cap is safe on the lanyard. Rubbery grip is extremely comfortable.

    Regarding rubber sections: I once bought a Rotring Skynn, which has a soft rubber finger section. But after some time that liquified and smeared on the hand...

    • @AndreasJankeEU
      @AndreasJankeEU 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This posting is old, the matter isn't at all. The section doesn't liquify directly. But it can become sticky and wobbly after several years of use.

    Looks a lot like the Pilot Kakuno.

  • @cd3694
    @cd3694 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s a well made pen, but what is it with Lamy pens and what they consider extra fine? I bought this with an extra fine nib and it writes like a medium nib. Now when you buy a Pilot pen with an extra fine nib, that’s exactly what you get

    Hey,
    I have one Lamy Safari white with medium nib. I urge to buy one more Lamy. What do you suggest should I go with another safari or I should try Nexx M
    Kindly suggest.

    i wish there's more fountain pen with rubber grips with good design, there's only this or kid's pen with very 'kiddy' design. a lot of older people have arthritis so they need rubberized grip. however i get that the rubber might 'melt' and it won't last long. which is the entire point of fountain pen, i guess.

  • @Gouletpens
    @Gouletpens  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Liquified? Yikes...I don't anticipate that happening here, but since I've only had the pen a few days I guess I don't really have a way of knowing that yet.

    If kids are willing to use a fountain pen, that little hole on the cap will be popular with young girls who will attaché some bobble or ribbon to it or, as you said, they might hang it around their neck.
