I'd rather write sentences than read.
I'd rather you wrote the sentences.
I'd rather you didn't write on bathroom's wall.
    I'd rather not go tomorrow.
I'd rather practice speaking than writing.
Would you like to have tea or would you rather have coffee?

' Rather ' can be used also in the following ways without adding ' would ' :
    1) as an adverb (before an adjective or another adverb): She’s been treated rather badly.
    2) (before a verb): He rather enjoys watching it.
    3) as a predeterminer (followed by “a”): This is rather a good wine.
    4) in the conjunction phrase rather than: It would be better to remove it, rather than leave it.
    5) as a way of showing how a sentence is connected to what has already been said:
His purpose was not to attack. Rather, it was to defend.

Hello sir could you explain me how "infinitive verb" is used as a subject in a sentence
For ex: To err is human
    To forgive is divine
(it's a movie dialogue --------To feel so desperately that you are right , that to fail all the same )
I can 't understand that how is it (infinitive verb) making sense here

I would rather you stayed in my home. They would rather we called at six o’clock. I would rather you arrived at 10. I would rather you did not speak to her. I would rather I spoke to her first. I would rather you came by train. I would rather you did not speak with me in this way. I would rather you saw first and then you take a decision. You would rather go first or after me. I would rather you arrived at home before her. I would rather you spoke to her first before you take any decision. I would rather you asked her apologise.
