    0:57 So are Calcott & Shepherds Lanes being cut into 4 individual dead ends like the old Pulley Lane was for the bypass? I don't see any bridges or roundabouts in the animation so it looks that way... 🤔

    It’s like something from the 60s...it needs an old fashioned BBC voice over!

      Out of the 60's is about right...this sort of scheme was seen as desirable then. But now? It seems a mistake to me and an expensive mistake at that.

    Why is the footway as wide as one carriageway? People won't even walk from one side of a supermarket car park to another so it's highly unlikely they will walk this. Why not use the additional space for vehicle movement?

      This will provide space for future turning lanes to new development. Be it housing, retail or light industrial. So much for the greenfields of the green wedge shown in the video. Which I notice is silent...not so appealing when there's the roar and rumble of traffic. Also the birds eye view is not how people will experience the road.

    This is not a true image of the surroundings. It doesn’t show the residential properties on the sides of the route. Only shows the fields.

      Also shows mature trees by the road where there aren't any to make the whole thing look more acceptable... the car flows shown look so low as to make the exercise look pointless. It'll provide access for development. The green wedge will disappear.

    Please note that the CEO of the AA today announced that as so many people have found satisfactory ways to work from home, fewer journeys will be made in future. He suggested that the money earmarked for roads, and railways, should be spent on more efficient broadband instead.

    Where are all those people walking to alongside it? No cycles using the cycle tracks, didn't bother to put any animated cycles in.

      It's only a animation. There will be cycle lanes. And believe it or not people do walk just to get some exercise. Can't wait for this new road.

      Will you be walking that route along the road then or will you be driving? I don't imagine many would walk for miles by a fast and busy link road for exercise and enjoyment.

    People will not walk this road - there is nothing to walk to. Use the space for some soundproofing and fences to hide the traffic (like on the continent), especially where it goes close to the river.

    • @alexn643
      @alexn643 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, no-one will walk on it. The path is pointless, except for maybe first little bit.

      The pedestrian and cycle lane will no doubt give way in time to turning lanes for the new estates that will spring up like mushrooms along this road in what was greenfield.

      That's the gray stipe next to the road. Notice there's no separation from the road.

    Laybys?
    No trees, etc, in the centres of roundabouts please - they obscure the view for drivers.
    Twin roundabouts at the northern end look a bit complex but at least the road to Bomere Heath is shown in this video version...

    • @JenOnTheMove
      @JenOnTheMove 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good, by obscuring the view drivers might actually make an effort to slow down for roundabouts!

    We should not be considering a new road cutting up more of our precious countryside when our council has pledged to cut our emissions plant more trees encourage the use of cycling and walking the virus has shown us how clean our air can be hopefully the county will be so broke idiotic schemes like this will vanish . If it does go ahead make room for trees and people along its route
