Needs to be a dual carriageway if it’s going to ease traffic. Otherwise you will just move it from one area to the other. Out of the town centre and onto this road.

Appreciating the difficulties of sorting a route, purchasing the land, etc, this still doesn't do enough.
Dual carriageway should be the norm on this road, especially since there are proposed new industrial works planned.
Also why the hell isn't the A49 widened into TWO lanes at the southbound A49/B5062 (Sundorne Rd) roundabout? The tailback here is often over a mile long on a daily basis, even though northbound has a filter lane & no such delays happen that way.
It's a nice-to-have relief road for sure but that this authority hasn't sorted the existing Shrewsbury traffic issues yet (Bowmere Heath, ridiculous westbound merge lane on Emstry Roundabout, Sundorne Rd/A5 as above plus more already mentioned below), so for me it lessens the celebration due to the announcement.
Ah well, perhaps it'll give the kids with souped up cars a place to race their vehicles somewhere other than residential areas at all hours of the day & night.

Pity it's interrupted by the junctions.

yes a dual carriageway would be better even if its parts along the road but i would sujest doing the work to the roundabouts thats actually there thats going to be added to done first that way will keep the traffic ques down if you work on one roundabout at a time and work from there

So we're just casually missing out the Bomere Heath road at the Ellesmere Road roundabout are we??

If I had to guess it done that way to help cut down the traffic from the Oswestry area using the Ruyton/Baschurch route. It will become a major accident point site as people attempt to come in from , say, Baschurch. and environs. Much better to leave the old lane in place and access the roundabout. It will help break the traffic going to Battlefield roundabout, which is already horrendous at rush hour and will only become worse if this is built, as through traffic will attempt to avoid the nightmare of the Shrewsbury by-pass.

The film represents well how much the road would disrupt the green wedge (SSSI status Old River Bed) and adjoining landscapes.
Are we really concerned about wildlife, diminishing numbers of insects and their sustainability?
There are much cheaper & less damaging ways of affecting traffic flow - rather than encouraging more.

Jean Breakell green wedge. I take it you visit there often then and enjoy this green wedge. Just remember the house you live in was on green wedge at some point. Don’t see you worrying about that

I agree. This road design is very poor and cares nothing for the environment. Once it has gone, the beauty doesn't come back. Typical thinking of the people who run Shropshire.

Where are there alternative cheaper ways to alleviate the traffic on the Ellasmere Road.

Ambitious proposals! We would love to produce some 3D Prints of some of the bridge structures this NWRR will require, as they will be quite visible at points, and would be good to reflect sympathetically on existing bridge structures in the area. Please give us a shout at info@printotype.co.uk

Finally the funding is here. But next question is when will they start it and will they balls it up.

Daniel Kawczynski, my MP (Shrewsbury and Atcham) wrote to me saying... “Having spoken with Boris about this [brexit], and having received his assurance that we will leave the EU come hell or high water, I decided to support his bid to become Party Leader.
However, there is another reason for my support of Boris. Having achieved my long term goal of achieving funding for the North West Relief Road,” … so should be all done & dusted!

I should add that my reply to Mr Kawczynski was 'I would like to put on record that I fear with the current climate emergency upon us we, our children and grandchildren will see both hell and high water. '

This is out of date - surely the not so great folk in the council can remove this video or upload an up to date version that shows perhaps the existing lane towards Bomere etc

Seems to show a distinct lack of foreign lorries passing through and farm tractors. Does the video artist not know this is Shropshire?
