Hi bud. I have same issue on my x5. I send in my FRM for repair. One question, if you don't mind answering. when you installed your repaired FRM did you disconnect battery first and then you installed your repaired FRM and in last did you reconnect battery?

Also, one of my FOBs stopped working a few years ago and they THINK a new FRM will fix all that.. so I said, before I spend $1,400, let me look into this. Can I ask what your symptoms were before you had your FRM repaired? Congrats, by the way! thank you.
How does this not just happen again once connected? Bought new battery and frm module went. Also got a COM code but definitely frm module bc symptoms are won’t stop going back into park while attempting to forward or reverse, headlights on, flickering dash with lighting system error and windows won’t go down. Do I had to get the battery reprogrammed before installing frm module? Thx.
I changed my battery, kept it connected to a trickle charger while I removed the battery, and installed a new battery. Once reconnected, I started the vehicle and received an lighting error on the information screen. I checked the windows, turn signals, headlamp control and none of the switches worked for me. In my research I read that after replacing the battery it can take 6 hours or more for the systems to reset and configure.... Another thing that was happening, each time I started my 2011 X3 within hours after the battery replacement, the lights would flash 5 times and switch to low beam and the directional lights would not adjust. I changed the battery Friday evening, I started it a few times, ran diagnostics with my scan tool, I turned the steering wheel lock to lock to see if the adaptive/directional lights would work, I cycled through my panoramic by holding the button for 40 seconds or so, I turned off the car and watched the hazard and other lights flash, I locked the car and let the car sit. I researched on line all of the videos on the FRM and planned to purchase one today. I went to the car yesterday, started it up and everything was back to normal and no malfunctioning. Does the footwell module have an internal battery? My OBD says that the footwell module battery is dead but I can't run the engine, right now so I don't know if that's right. It's a 2012 that I bought a few months ago.

Not yet diagnosed so I changed the battery which was due. I suspect my problem has something to do with contaminated fuel due to the gas station running out. Waiting to get my car into the shop on the 15th. You have been a great help. Jim

Couple of warnings. I've had this happen 3 times on the same car...usually because the battery died and needed a jump. First guy didnt offer a warranty, so I had to go to new guy who had a warranty. When I went back to him after 8 months (when it bricked again), he was no longer in business...so great warranty there! Now I am considering just buying a new FRM3 since it seems like my FRM3 is fragile and this will keep happening over and over again. Anyways, make sure you get warranty with a reputable company unless you plan to buy a new FRM and have it coded. BMW should make this a lifetime warranty items since they know they produced a sucky product...I am out of warranty by a couple years.

@@willc275 yes, I sent my to a guy on ebay who fixes the fw module. There are several on there. He was located in Florida. Sent it off and had a message they fixed it the next day and sent it directly back to me. $40! ☺️ But then you also have to take it to a shop who knows about bmw to have them match up the battery to the car.

I'd double check your wiring/installation/fuses and your audio settings.

Any guy on eBay with good reviews should work, or go on your local BMW Facebook group and I’m sure there’s a master tech that can do it for you

I have the same window and light issues as well... as not going in to gear.
@@kristenjarvis8492 sounds like trans issues. there is a lever on the side if the transmission pan that sometimes can get disengaged. maybe that?
