  • The quest for 100yards begins!
    Starting on testing the jsb heavies
    Bisley magnums
    and QYS magnums at 66yards in a strong and twitchy wind
    i managed to hit a micro 6mm target at the full 66yards which was pretty good considering the poor weather conditions, going forward i will push out to 100 yards and looking at building some custom 40mm targets to suit.
    im not sure what level of consistency i will be able to get but im looking to push my limits with the sub12 AirArms xti50 air rifle
    ive used the qys magnums previously on the channel the video can be found here... • Testing the new QYS 13...
    here is a previous test showing how the various pellet types perform in the wind... • Are JSB heavies really...
    The scope im using is a falcon endura in ffp and tier one dovetail mounts.

    Excellent vid .. always love a good old pellet testing vid , also I've always found that QYS pellets require " re-leading" in after using different brands , sometimes as many as 30 ... found its best to clean barrel first before QYS's are put through .. adds another factor to the equation.

    I've never found any pellets other than good old domes to be any good on

    Great Video Tommy! be interesting to see who comes out on top at 100. Don't fancy having a crack at the 6mm at 100 yards...LOL

      What I'd give for a couple of calm mornings to push it out... The wind is always all over the place on the farm,will make it tricky at best, maybe impossible at times..

      @@tillysgunstocks Yeah, it’s not good right now.
      Range days this week have been more trying to keep on the paper than keep in the 10 ring.
      It’s been ‘marching shooting’ - Left, Right, Left, Right. 😂

    Yet to watch the video, but I've had great success with 10.34 jsb at 100yrds, getting a sub 1" group with s510rus.

      Yep its definitely do able, the wind is going to be the biggest hurdle here as it's always really twitchy and sometimes completely catches me out 😆

      Can I ask what batch number
      I have two sleeves of the same batch. They seem good to me. But I bought them a year ago. Thinking about stocking up before the lead ban.

    The pellets I use the most are JSB heavy and the baracuda match. To me the most acurate pellets.
    I do shoot them around 900 fps.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd love to be able to run them up at the higher speeds,but I've got a maximum FPS of 710ish with the 10.34gn☹️

    I've shot some JSB express out to 90 odd. Some scopes it starts to get hard to see .177 holes in paper.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty lucky with the falcon scope as I can see quite well, when I push out to the full 100 I'll use painted metal targets so I get a nice visible splat 😉

    Shame about the QYS, thought they might be a little tighter.

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most of our usual stuff will start to lose some stability past 50m, the pointy heads on the qys magnums aren't that concentric so I'm surprised they did group how they did. I'm sure with a thorough sorting they could be batched up and the best ones pushed out to 100yds. The drop is a bit mad though,but they hit hard!

    • @tillysgunstocks
      @tillysgunstocks  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A glove is definitely worth considering for a lot of target disciplines. The anschutz ones are my favourite and I've tried a lot of different ones over the years
