    I am so amazed at what a consumer culture Moscow is today! Simply amazing! This is no different than I have seen in any upscale area of the USA. It is also rather a comedy that there are still some wooden headed people here who think that everything in Russia is long lines and empty shelves. 😃

    I love your videos and every time I watch one I am amazed at how similar things are in Russia and here in the UK, and indeed, everywhere in the world. Cars, shops, houses, people, holidays, entertainment, cameras, hobbies and everything. It makes it so hard to understand how there is hate and conflict in the world when underneath it all we are all so alike. Merry Christmas to you, Alex and your family and friends.

    Before Russia had the big box stores there were a few who would go to Alaska find someone with a card and stock up. We had a Russian employee and he loved Costco he even moved his parents into some apartments right next to the Costco. Big Box stores make a lot of sense if you live a ways from the stores and need to stock up on a weekly or monthly trip. In a large spread out country like Russia they make the most sense. I searched for this video because I knew how much they loved box stores and wanted to see if they had acquired any....Yep.

    Metro is specialized for people with businesses, it does not matter if you own a smal kiosk or a multy storey office building. Here you can buy things in masses you can't buy in normal stores like 10gallons of mustard, or 50kg meat or coffee powder and other work equipment or decoration. You can get multiple member cards as an owner and give them to your employees.

    • @hillsidedweller656
      @hillsidedweller656 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the explanation of how membership for this store works. Do you know if any sort of (small, privately owned) business could qualify, and how do you prove your qualification when you apply for membership? Oh, and Merry Christmas! 🎄

    • @LordFantasthick
      @LordFantasthick 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hillsidedweller656 This was an explanation how the METRO store works in Germany. I later realized, that METRO works differently in different countries. Here in Germany only businneses can shop there. Their website says, that you need a proof that you are an entrepreneur, your passport and tax id, to get a membership card. But due to Corona, everyone is allowed to shop there now, because they lack customers.

    Hello from England. Very interesting, as always, in the UK we call such a store ...
    a Cash and Carry, it's for wholesale supply and is used mostly by small shops. They buy goods in bulk, such as 12 bottles of Scotch Whisky in one pack, the shop then sell it to their customers at a slightly higher price than they paid for it, this is the retail cost. My Brother used to own a small business and he would often take me with him to the Cash and Carry, so I bought food and supplies for my home at less than retail. Good to have a Brother in business.

      I was in Harrods back in 2005 & sat in a massage chair well the woman approached & said I need an appointment to use the chair I nearly fell off the chair when she said that, well since she was going on vacation to Florida in a few weeks she thought I might be of help since I'm from the states so she relented & allowed me to continue massaging my derriere for the allowed 5 minutes lol..

    We pay for all these "clubs" here in the US too.....Sams, Costco, BJ's.....lots of the same stuff around the same prices.......In the US each place gets involved with different employees.....so if you work for that place all you do is take a pay stub and pay the annual fee ( anywhere from $50-$100) and they take your picture and give you your card.......with the card you can go anyday you want as long as it's not expired.

    Wonderful people in a great, simple video, just doing simple things with enough joy. Like you showing everyday life in Russia. The prices are not too different than here in the US so probably expensive for many Russians, just as for many people here. I have never been a member of these types of stores because I try not to be a big consumer and buy many things second hand, (used).
    I hope the Ruble gets stronger to lower your prices some.

    Куртка определенно хороша на Алексе , и дешевая. Вы не купили ее Лера ? Алкоголь дорогой , ты правильно заметила - Алекс хорошо разбирается в недешевых напитках . Перед Новым Годом надо будет проконсультироваться у вас . Я видел вы проходили мимо стеллажей с кухонной техникой. Нет ли у тебя Лера суповарки с блендером дома типа MOULINEX или ZAUBER и не знаешь ли ты цены на них у вас ? У нас я в продаже не натыкался . В интернет магазинах может быть.Холосый магазинчик .Мне понлавился.😋 🌼

      куртку купили, но сыну оказалась мала. Вобщем Алекс забрал ее себе (сказал, что это его награда за шатание по магазину:) Очень доволен. Сказал, что на таких условиях готов ходить хоть каждый день в магазин:) Блендер у меня погружной - Bosh кажется. мультиварка тоже есть - но фирму не помню. редко ей пользуюсь. Я посмотрю MOULINEX или ZAUBER в наших магазинах. Но я думаю что на их сайтах все цены есть.
