That has to be one of the funniest intros to a game review I've ever seen! Thanks Marco! : ) I'm passing on this one myself because I feel supporting it would send the wrong message regarding the amazing progress that FFG made with the inception of the LCG. In fact I think I'll write them a letter about that and simultaneously dump that money instead into (eventually) The Lord of The Rings the Card Game with the two Deluxe expansions you've reviewed plus their cycles and the special Gencon pack with the base set. (Those were really great reviews by the way, they showed me so much of what I've loved about card games!) Wish me predetermined victory! I'm gonna' need it because this is a game that I honestly *fear* due to it's infamous level of difficulty and reputation for needing "just the right deck". I guess I'll find out if that's true or not. I'm also going to be supporting Arkham Horror when it comes out. Vote with your dollar folks! ^ ^
I too, have an issue with the CCG model en masse. I own three LCG/ECG games and have no issues with them, however. But I'm getting into SWD nonetheless as I like the theme and consider the gameplay to be fun. HOWEVER, given my agreement with Marco over the perils and traps inherent in the CCG model (which I realize BTW is what a lot of gamers love about it), I fully intend to stop "collecting" when I hit 100 cards or so. This will give me enough to use as a pool for when friends and family visit... Both players can build their decks from the pool and enjoy a fun casusl game. No need to be involved with being a CCG consumer after reaching that point.
Thank you very much for this video Marco, this is exactly the kind of review I was waiting for because I was somewhat hesitant to buy this game due to the collecting aspect (which is a step backward in the game products philosophy iMHO). Greetings from France. :-)
That's why I buy only dead CCG games. :) They're cheap enough to create 4 decks and play as if it was a board game.
your description of ccg's for adults is hilarious and accurate.

LOL. Love the intro Marco. And "metagame decadance perversion" - surely a candidate for gaming quote of the year!
agree 100% about the collectible/meta aspect
