    FAQ
Hey everyone! Wanted to say thank you for checking out this video - I expected the video to do well, but was really surprised not just at how quickly it spread, but how positive the majority of the feedback has been!
Believe it or not, I've read all 5,000+ comments on this video so far and I've been happy to see that they've far and away been very nice and polite. All of you in the Sam & Colby community should be proud of how well you've come across! With that said, after reading so many comments, I've seen a lot of the same questions/arguments over and over and I thought it might be a good idea to talk about them here!
🗣"What about that ghost face in the basement??"
I meant to mention this part in the video, but frankly there were so many "I gotta remember to mention X" moments that I just forgot this one. So just to catch you up if you haven't seen it, there's a moment in Episode 3 of Sam & Colby's series (at around 1h27m or so) where you can see someone in the background begin to walk up the basement stairs, then turn around and go back into the basement.
A lot of people have speculated that this is a ghost, but I am 99% sure it is their producer Zach. It's hard to tell exactly who it is even when I zoom in all the way, but it looks like him to me. Remember that in the scene just before this, Sam & Colby were down in the basement doing the estes method. I imagine that after they're done with a scene (like the faraday cage set up outside in Episode 4, for example) someone from production comes and cleans up after them. So it would make sense that this was Zach checking things out after they finished filming in the basement, coming back up the stairs, seeing/hearing them talking to the camera and realizing he was about to walk into the shot, and quickly turning around to exit the basement through the other stairs. (as Colby mentions in Episode 1, there are two entrances to the basement)
It's important to remember that Sam & Colby are not alone in the conjuring house - not only do they have team members there with them like Zach, but conjuring house staff is also on-site and we see at least 5 staff members around the house throughout the series. So even if it wasn't Zach specifically, there's a good chance it was one of the others. I think the fact that Sam & Colby didn't zoom in on the face and make a big deal out of it probably means they knew who it was, too.
🗣 "I believe Sam & Colby no matter WHAT this guy says!"
These comments made me laugh, honestly! Considering that I even stated outright that I found Sam & Colby to be "genuine" in the first 10 minutes of the video, I would hope that people saying things like this haven't watched the video all the way through. To put it bluntly, we AGREE.
On top of that, my goal in making this video was just to give some food for thought and offer an alternate perspective. I'm not out here to "convert" believers into non-believers. I'd obviously prefer if we agreed, but I'm more interested in just presenting good arguments. It's up to you whether you consider them or not!
🗣 "You didn't need to spend 2 hours on this. Sam & Colby were in on it. It's all scripted. Case closed."
On the other side of the coin - these comments made me laugh, too! Sure, there wouldn't be much of a video if I had just dusted off my hands and said "the explanation is simple. they're all IN ON IT!" and then let the credits roll. Wow, debunking the series would have been so easy if you just assume everyone's lying!
In this case - sure, there's a possibility that everyone's in on it and it's all set up. But not only do I genuinely disbelieve that's the case, it's an unnecessary setup. There are enough inconsistencies and examples of suspicious behavior with Cody & Satori, that disbelieving them is a very rational conclusion. You don't need to throw in the assumption that Sam & Colby are lying - they could easily do their little performance without their help. In fact, they have - many times! There's a LOT of videos out there of them performing this stunt without Sam & Colby present. So why would they need them to cheat for this one?
I think it makes the argument against Cotori a lot stronger if you avoid including unnecessary speculation like this. But I also concede it's a good possibility to consider.
🗣 "You said you don't trust TH-camrs. Yet, YOU are a TH-camr. So I guess according to you, we shouldn't trust you either!"
Yes, exactly! This isn't a "gotcha", this is exactly what I meant. You should put your trust in the evidence and in the strength of an argument, not just in the person presenting it. I believe this year has had plenty of examples of TH-camrs either not knowing what they're talking about, or even blatantly lying. (See hbomberguy's Plagiarism video, for example) So it's a great idea to be fact-checking and not taking anything at face value!
🗣 "Why don't *YOU* go there yourself to the Conjuring House! You can't say for sure it's fake because you. weren't. there."
Feel free to rewatch (or perhaps, dare I say... watch for the first time?) the bit at 1:39:57 where I outline that it's $1200/night if you want to create content at the house. On top of that, they make you sign a contract in-person when you arrive. And they've undoubtedly changed the contract since the Sam & Colby series to avoid the legions of "debunkers" they knew were about to flood the house searching for solenoids.
So not only am I doubtful I'd find anything useful or interesting, I don't really want to fight them over it if I do. And I certainly don't want to inject $1200 straight into their profits. I also don't want to awkwardly run into Cotori after I made a million-view video helping expose them as con artists, to be perfectly honest! 💀They might get Abigail to jump me...
In all seriousness, I'm down to go on a paranormal investigation somewhere else, that sounds like fun. But I think I've seen all I need to see from the Conjuring House, honestly. The only thing I'd do if I went would be looking for hidden devices, checking those cabinets that opened (maybe bring a level?) and check that wonky door that opened "all on its own." Speaking of which...
🗣 "That door that opened 'all on its own' also opened during Ryan and Shane's investigation!"
I found this pattern very interesting. I hadn't seen Ryan and Shane (formerly Buzzfeed Unsolved and now known as "Watcher", for the unfamiliar) investigate the Conjuring House, but if the same door mysteriously opened both times, that makes me think that I was right about it being a problem with the door. Of course, I'm sure people who are convinced it was a ghost will just take this as evidence that the ghost has a "thing" about opening that door. Confirmation bias on both sides, I suppose!
🗣 "Robert, I'm sorry for looking at you. I claim no negative energy, etc."
Just so you know, the Robert doll in the conjuring house is a replica - not the original. Just like the raggedy ann dolls strewn around the house, the Robert doll they have there is just for marketing. So you definitely don't need to apologize to the Robert merch.
(In my opinion, you wouldn't need to apologize to the real one, either. But I'd like to kindly suggest that you consider treating real living people with as much respect as you're treating the Robert doll!)
🗣 "Why don't you tag along with Sam & Colby on their next investigation?"
Haha I don't know about all that - for one thing, I think it would SEVERELY cramp their style to have a thirtysomething dude in the background of the vid interrupting to say "Hey guys I think there's a rational explanation for all this if we just slow down and run some tests🤓"
I'm sure their audience wouldn't have the patience for me repeatedly opening and closing a faulty door to see if it has "an issue with the hinges". They'd rather see some more energetic personalities just rolling with the punches, because that's the pattern of content that's been set up.
Frankly, I'm also not an "expert" by any means. If they were to bring a skeptic along, I'd prefer if they brought along a SCIENTIST. (An entertaining one, of course!)
🗣 "This is the best video you've ever made."
I got this comment a lot, and it makes me really happy. Thank you! It's very fulfilling to see comments like this. I got plenty of compliments and affirmations when I was making gaming videos over the years, but I can't remember ever being told on a gaming video that it was my best work... Maybe because it wasn't? So thank you for the praise, and I'm glad that I was able to make high-quality content that resonated with you. I hope to make more videos like it in the future!

Great video! You’re really kind about everything and you give solid advice. Honestly as a Sam and Colby viewer, I would love to see them do more testing when “paranormal” stuff happens. I think it would be more fun to show them trying to disprove it. It would be cool if you went with them or they started taking skeptics with them ghost hunting. I think it would actually give them more views too.

Just a thought experiment: but spend maybe 5 years absoluteky isolated and aline with no one acknowledging your existance; all the while being surrounded by everyone. You scream, you try to touch people, but can't. No one responds to you at all no matter how long you wail directly into their ear until your throat is sore. And then keep trying. For again X amount of years ranging anywhere from 1-10,000. Just go ahead and imagine that if you can.
Now put this chick in front of you and she is the very first person to acknowledge your existance...ever. Would you SERIOUSLY be annoyed at how she was talking to you? Or would you be so overjoyed and finally getting that social connection that our brains are hard wired to crave? I believe you would be salivating in child like giddy joy over having someone to finally talk too that you wouldn't care how she was doing it at that point. The mental and emotional stimulation of social activity would be like getting the biggest High in your entire existance.

The first thing that immediately seemed off to me about Satori was how she was reciting the alphabet. She'd start really slow when the next letter was something early on, but whenever it was a later letter she'd start going through really quickly. And yet, no matter how quickly she was going through letters, she'd always manage to stop on exactly the right letter when the knock came. There was only ever a single instance of her going a letter too far. Almost like she knew what letters the knocks were going to come on beforehand.

if you payed more attention you would realilize that this happened when they could predict what the word is, which then means they know which letter is coming next so obviously she is going to speed up if she guesses the next letter will be "Y". You can predict answers based on the letters given so far and the questions asked, so how does your point disprove them?

The 27th was the date her obituary was posted so them saying her spirit was walking around that cause it was the anniversary of her death doesn’t add up and personally leads more credence to the idea that someone looked up deaths in the area on that day before they filmed it.
The door that randomly opened is also the same one that randomly opened when Shane and Ryan visited several years ago which makes me think the door is just janky.

@@KarlaDancess hearing is a sense. if you can't sense spirits, then you shouldn't be able to hear them either. the whole point of that statement was them claiming they have no special connection with spirits that would give them an exclusive ability to sense their presence, "everything that happens, happens for ALL to see". everything they experience and hear should be the exact same as everyone else, yet she suddenly has the special ability to "hear" the ghosts walking away and acknowledge they are no longer present.. which absolutely is a contradiction to "we can't sense spirits".
not to mention it doesn't make any sense. why do the ghosts suddenly make noise when "walking"? but only when they are walking away, as there was no observation or comment about hearing random footsteps in the room. why would ghosts even make noise when moving around anyway?
the sound getting more distant wouldn't make any sense either, since the knocking is clearly established as something the spirits can only make through a conscious effort. the knocking isn't perpetual and why would they continue making knocking sounds as they are moving away?
the very premise of the spirits "just leaving" is also hilarious. you have all these spirits of dead ancestors, mothers, grandmothers and personal relatives to these people just hanging out at the same time and in the same room as them, at this very specific moment, only for these dead family members to all just randomly "walk away". why is it that there is ALWAYS some spirit and relative in a room or place when they do these sessions, making it seem like spirits are just hanging out with people 24/7, only to then turn around and randomly disappear after the so called psychics run out of material after spelling out names with their ABC's?

@@crocodilerock4662 From how its detailed on the booking site, they aren't a special package. Basically, they give the scheduled guided tour thats only meant to be 30 minutes. So I guess the situation is really, "imagine being a couple that just does a standard paranormal con that's only meant to take half an hour, and then you're whole weekend is commandeered by some youtubers that keep getting close to exposing your con while also defending it."
That said, even a regular person has to pay $980-$1200 a night to stay there. They can only be there from 7pm-8am each night they've book, and are not provided any kind of paranormal equipment despite the overnight stay being advertised as an "investigation booking." You have to bring all your own stuff or else you're just sitting in an old house bored. The only garaunteed interaction is 30 minutes with Cotori, so its 100% a tourist trap.

It'd be pretty simple to test without much difficulty if someone that they'd be compelled to do a reading for, IE someone with a following, booked a nice tour/sleep over and sent an imposter in their place,
I suspect they aren't using facial recognition or bank level identity verification. So simply having the famous person book the event and put their name on the visitor sheet as well as a cameraman or two, which again now that payment info is involved you can just lie about, should be enough to attempt to verify the experiment through falsification.
If they're for real the ghosts will know who's actually present. If they aren't they'll spit out Google facts.

@minime2437 At one point while watching their series I had it in my mind that Cody definitely was lying and considered the possibility that only he was lying, even to her. She's likable and light and fun and you don't want to believe that about her. And I think that's the entire reason it works as an act.
Video emerged of Cody doing this act solo years ago. And that just plain confirms that he's lying because it proves their origin story as entirely BS. This isn't something that just started happening when they came together. It's at that point you have to understand that in the business they're in whether you are a con artist or are sincere you HAVE to know how to do research. Your entire job is basically to be a historian. She'd know about his old videos if she was actually innocent and wasn't in on it. The simplest explanation is that she's in on it too, rather than the more complex one that he's lying to his own mate.

Here is a possible explanation as to why there were no vibrations felt in the dance studio. As a dancer for many years, I know dance studio floors are designed to absorb movement with spring-like designs to make it easier to leap and move without putting so much pressure on the dancer's joints. So if they were popping joints or using the knocker, the movements would be absorbed into the floor so no vibrations could be felt.

Exactly my thoughts, too. Stages are also like that, as well. Also muffles actors steps as they move around, and helps props not fall over in, for example, big dance numbers during a musical, or just a very physical scene. Though we’d often put a little tape or sticky-tacky on the bottoms of props to ensure they stay where they’re supposed to, making less work and more safety for both actors and stage crew.

The reason you cant feel vibrations in the dance studio floor is most likely because there is a lot of padding under the floorboards to protect dancers from injury. If they are using a solenoid (which is more likely than joint cracking imo due to it causing vibrations others can feel) to produce the knocking, the vibrations would be absorbed by foam or padding under the floor. Also I would like to point out that just because something cannot be explained does not mean that it isn't faked. Most of these things have many possible explanations that are much more likely than ghosts exist.

Hell, my first reaction when it happens in the Conjuring House wasn't even "it's a solenoid" or "it's toe cracking". My first instinct was "they have someone set up in the basement with a broomstick". It's an old house with floorboards and gaps/cracks everywhere. If you're quiet you can probably make out what people are saying on the floor above you. It could also possibly be a reason for them to move to the floor above right after. Not just to proof that "it happens everywhere", but also to give the guy in the basement time to move to the ground floor, knock on the ceiling and then slip out of the house before the people above have come down the stairs.
All in all the house is just a completely controlled environment for Cody & Satori, there's a dozen techniques they can use in the house owned by their employer, and they make money by having people keep visiting the spoopy spookhouse from le realest happened movie series. They have the means and the motive, there's no reason they wouldn't.

  • @PlaguedReview
    @PlaguedReview 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

The comments alone on Sam and Colby’s Conjuring videos are enough to understand why cons like this NEED to have people come at this sort of thing with a debunking mindset. Taking advantage of a person’s grief and profiting off their deceased loved ones for a show trick is objectively wrong. And again, it’s all to an audience that hasn't exactly put in the time to look at this sort of thing with a skeptical/informative view. Which will just lead to Cody and Satori taking advantage of more people, especially grieving ones.
People commenting “I claim no negative energy from this video” on the original video are watching it, fully wrapped up in the con itself. *Which again*, signifies why sharing content like this without putting much time into disproving it is harmful and helps push the facade of said con.

It’s charmingly simple.
Anyone who knows even a little bit about Spiritualism, seances, mentalism, bizarrist magic, etc, immediately recognize that these two were using the literal oldest trick in the book by the OG fake seance masters themselves, the Fox Sisters.

If the only reason people think those were reads is because of the seemingly genuine reaction, go glance at their other videos; it's their whole thing. My first instinct upon hearing Sam say that was to look up his grandmother and see if it was readily available online. Given her nickname was used in the obituary, it's an immediate red flag for Cotori's "ability" as they could've easily done the same thing to prepare for their session with Sam and Colby. At least it's what they SHOULD hear. They also have shown that this static actually plays in the headphones in one video. So i guess one would have to test how good you actually hear outside noise while wearing these headphones while also being exposed to full-blast static.
Because i'm gonna be honest with you, i don't have noise cancelling headphones.. and sometimes when i'm sitting on my PC and play an intense game or listen to music, i won't hear shit. As a witch, and psychic medium myself, I don't like Amanda either. And I have so many reasons. If we take it to the spiritual side, when you're a medium, you help spirits pass over. Yet from what she's shown she's only using Christianity (no shame on that whatsoever), not every spirit is a Christian. And when they went to the Conjuring house the first time, it was mentioned several times that they were on indigenous land. So using the whole "In the name of Jesus, yada yada" won't work. I do agree with what you say where she's like "omg you're in such trouble if I'm not with you." It's giving : I'm gonna make you so dependent on me, and exploit you because you have such a big following. And let's also talk about the fact that she's misinforming them. Myrtle's plantation comes to mind straight away. She's telling them that the evil eye will protect them from negative spirits. And that's such bs. The evil eye is helping with negative energies emitted from living people, when it comes to the supernatural it does fuck all. It looks like she went to a souvenir shop, got the cheapest shit she could find and then twist the narrative to make them codependent. I always say I hate Amanda and the whole fandom comes for my ass 🤣 even if I'm also reacting to them, and explaining why I hate her so much

If there are in fact spirits in the house then they already know Cody and Satori, the two pretty much work there meaning they stay there for long periods of time. With random visitors coming in they don’t know their personal information like the back of their hand. It could also be that Sam and Colby don’t want to air Cody and Satori’s personal information whatever the reason for that is.
4)this just goes back to different spirits, I tried looking her up but I found one source outside of the house itself about her so I honestly don’t have any information on her. Whether or not she was alive at one point or even resided in that house is something I don’t care to learn about but from what I’ve seen I don’t think that she is a spirit that once lived in the house or even one that is relevant to the conjuring house and they are just mentioning a random person from that time period. Abigail is a fairly common name in the 1700’s in the colonial period so it wouldn’t be surprising if she never lived in the conjuring house.

Few things I wish that were brought up in this video:
    1. You didn't bring up the clip of Larri straight up mentioning, to Satori and Cody's faces, that the way they knew something about him was because they got his full name from the form. (I just think this clip is hilarious from Larri)
    2. The clip of Satori and Cody comparing THEMSELVES to the Fox Sisters in Sam and Colby's breakdown wasn't brought up. They mention how OTHERS are comparing them to the Fox Sisters but...they literally do it themselves as well (that would've just been a great gotcha moment when they bring it up during their response video)
    3. There is a TON of footage that Cody has been doing this for YEARS w/o Satori. I was able to find at least 3-5 videos minimum (all very painfully long though) of Cody doing interviews about this specific knocking method that ONLY occurred with Cody on the team...then it suddenly turned into...this knocking method that ONLY occurred with Cody AND Satori.
Then bring up the fact that Satori's father is a well versed paranormal investigator for 2 tv shows that you'd think Satori is well versed on how to trick viewers/how to say things in order to persuade viewers. (By the way Cody and Satori both starred on the same paranormal show for a few yrs)
Deeply enjoyed the part where you bring up that they could have tried harder to actually debunk the evidence as that is part of their job, and something they allege that they try to do, keep up the good work!
I had no clue about Cody's past work in making paranormal equipment and that was an amazing way to separate your video from others by bringing that up, great find!
