Great Videos. This video made me go and test my freshly mixed Probiotic Reef salt. I was alittle surprised to say the least, when it tested at 6.9 ALK, the test results say its above 8. I kinda dissapointed. Makes total sense, because Im dosing the crap out of my alk and calc to keep the levels up. This video isnt the first time I heard good things about Fritz salts, I am going to try them when i run out of Aquaforest salt.
Joe Joe Thanks bro!! I do the test to see what brands are closest to their advertised levels. If I pay for a certain brand that advertises certain levels, especially if they provide a data sheet. I expect the advertised levels otherwise why pay the premium price when I can equally be disappointed in a lower priced salt.
You should test the salt I use, I'll never use anything else now. I use aqua craft bio sea marine mix. Mixes clear super fast and is always on point with the levels.
Did you remember to dry mix the salts there are 100 of different size particled and the finer ones settle I put my salt in s screw on lid brewing bin and roll it
great info bro ...thnx...I just started using fritz and I didn't have a circulating pump in my saltwater jug and I've got sediment In my fritz saltwater and now on top of my tank cause I added a lil to my tank thinking it would disappate but I guess I'm gonna have to get a small pump
I shake the hell out of it to but it won't help it's caked on the bottom ....I had no problem with the red seas pro mix sitting there ....I've never had it sitting longer than a week but like I said and you mentioned in your video im gonna have it circulating
Great video man, I seen them but though they where to new. How's fritz compared to RC again? Which salt are you using? UPS just dropped off another box of the RC for me
915Mang Sup Mang. I am currently using Coralife. Cant be beat at $45 a box for 200 gallons. I might make the change to Fritz though good deal at $63 a box of 200 gal. Test your salt bro I had issues with Regular IO and Reef Crystals thats why I wont use them again regardless of price not to mention their customer service. Fish of hex also documented his switch from RC to another salt recently also due to inconsistencies.
reef guy 92 I dont know. When I did the comparison video I purchased the small box. They are sold by kilos and dont specify how many liters or gallons they will produce.
Carlos Perez I have stayed with Coralife. I get the 200 gal box for $45. Cant beat the price and I have found it to be very consistant. I get it at Drs F&S.
@@pablomay28 bad decision it's the same price as Coralife. I've been using Coralife and reef crystals for 30 years can't beat it. Especially for the price at doctor Fosters.
FADETOBLACK Thats where I get the IO. Like reef crystals Coralife leaves a brown residue. My reef has been doing fine with IO. As a mater of fact all the salts I have tried have worked. It comes down to price and availability.
Ram Sumanth Hadnt heard of it till u mentioned it. Got on their website and the parameters advertised are not close to what I like running my reef at. I do like that there are new salt brands popping up though. More options for consumers
Pablo's Reef I jus took a look at d website after u mentioned... n ya ur right.. not d parameters which I needed either.... although I sincerely wanna use red sea... in my country we only get fakes which has calcium at 290 nd alkalinity of 6dkh... anyways thank u for letting me know..!
Jeroro Mouse I tested the reef salt not the probiotic. Does your salt mix make your water yellow? BTW Salifert test also verified the result of mid 6 dKH
Pablo's Reef the batch I had 7months ago was a tiny bit yellow so I use carbon to clear it out. The new one I just got is crystal clear! I had first success since the beginning when I started using AquaF keeping SPS
the pump on the right side bucket is circulating the water super fast but the pump on the bucket on the left is barely moving at all. not an accurate comparison with such an obvious difference in water flow rates.
Just picked up aquaforest so excited to see how it does
How was it?
@@samhsn3372 it was good just low alk so had to start dosing right away and my town had a shortage on aquaforest salt so I had to switch to red sea
I think a final bar chart of your results would be nice to have at the end of the video

The pump on the second bucket looks stronger. I use Fritz one the best salts I ever used. But that again I never used aqua forest.

Good stuff man. Im just starting a new system with Reef crystals but I want to find a fast mixing salt.

Ernesto Sanchez A tunze nanostream should be good enough to mix
Out of all the salts you tested which one is the best? I agree a review at the end would really help.
How can u compare hobby test kits to the lab tests?
Thank you for the review
Can you do a review on HW reefer salt mix
That would be very interesting.

Joe's Coral Reef Thank you for the comment and I hope it was of help.
Don’t think you followed directions on fritz . Supposed to mix heated water before adding salt
Good catch. Feel free to make a video following the mixing instructions to see how they differ from my results
How long does the aquaforest last if I did a 10 litre water change weekly?
reef guy 92 I dont know. When I did the comparison video I purchased the small box. They are sold by kilos and dont specify how many liters or gallons they will produce.
reef guy 92 aqua forest is good salt too there both good
Which is the best salt for a mix reef what do you recommend

Ftritz has This salt is horrible , very low alkalinity and calcium, and poor buffering capability
