  • Witness the Launch of a Legend in this stunning animation as Titanic enters the Belfast Waters for the very first time 112 years ago today. Work continues on both Project 401 and the Alpha but we as a company aren't making just one video game - We make incredible Titanic Content of all kinds and our supporters love that about us. This animation of the Launch is just another incredible example of what VDR can bring you.

As we watch this video, let us also remember the tragic death of James Dobbin; a Harland and Wolff worker who died after sustaining injuries resulting from failing to get out of the way of a wooden support beam that fell over as the ship slid into the water. He was the eighth and final man to die during the construction of RMS Titanic

I have always tried to live by the mantra "quality over quantity," and while I know that it's not always possible or desirable to fixate on the quality of a project to the detriment of its completion, this reconstruction of the Titanic from the ground up is proof that doing things right is absolutely worth it.
I sincerely hope that this project will inspire future filmmakers to create stories that take place in the often-overlooked sections of the Titanic. Imagine if James Cameron had access to this project back when he was planning his monumental film. We could have gotten a completely different story. Maybe a crew member falls in love with a first-class passenger, and we get to see the Turkish Baths and the gymnasium and the ladder to the top of the funnel.

As much as current liners and container ships have well outgrown Titanic......there are just certain shots ( 2:31 for example) that remind you that Titanic is still Just. So. Big.... To see it be launched is something special, but I cannot imagine the horror that must have overcome those in the lifeboats witnessing something that enormous, slowly descending into the still water out there in the middle of the ocean. How awful. I'd like to compliment the truly amazing work to those who are working to bring Titanic back to life there at Titanic: Honor and Glory. Titanic's story, and the stories of all those who sailed on her, are worthy to be remembered these 112 years later. May that never change.

Without those engines and heavy machinery at launch, the Titanic sure rode high in the water. Never saw the red anti fouling paint when the Titanic was fully loaded.

This is a beautiful, tragic poem, indeed: our much beloved Titanic just launched and not far her sister ship - the Olympic - ready for her sea trials. I am crying. 🙏💔
