  • Witness the tragic Final Plunge of the HMHS Britannic, the sister ship to the infamous RMS Titanic, 41 minutes after she struck the mine.
Animated in Unreal Engine 5, this brand new animation showcases our newest look at how we believe the Britannic's Final Plunge played out.
This animation is also a tie-in with our great friend 'Ocean Liner Designs' who has recently released a brand new feature length Britannic Documentary featuring both these and many more stunning visuals of the HMHS Britannic on her final fateful voyage.
You can watch that documentary here: • The Sinking of Britann...

that will be good, but no fictional characters, the only "character" would be the ship itself and all the occupants shown and have dialogue during the sinking

@@chargoesboom6990 This often gets brought up against 'Titanic' (1997) but people fail to realize, it's what made the movie successful and to a degree "accurate". Sure, it's unimaginable for a 1st and 3rd class passenger to go through all the things that Rose and Jack did in the movie, but their characters gave Cameron the chance to film the many events that real passengers went through, from being lost in the maze-like corridors of the lower decks, to having to go down with the ship because the lifeboats were all gone. Fictional characters give the director a chance to combine multiple real life experiences and show those through the eyes of these characters. If done right, and the characters are well written, it works really well like it did in the 97 movie (imo). The 2000 movie (among other things) didnt work because that characters were badly written, and although they tried to show multiple views of the sinking, but they went a bit too far with the fictional parts. So imo, if Cameron were to make a Britannic movie, it definitely would go better than the 2000 movie did, even with fictional characters. But that's just my opinion, I accept if someone doesn't like the idea of fictional characters, I like the idea behind them tho (or the idea of how Cameron did them)

My grandpa was a Captain himself. So naturally when I was younger, we talked a lot about ship but especially about the Titanic and her sisters. He died in 2019. On his certificate is written that he died at exactly 8:03 a.m on the 21st of November. German time. In Greece that's 9:03 a.m. So he died almost to the second 103 years after Britannic's death. Always wondered if it was just a coincidence, it almost couldn't have been a more symbolic time. Miss him very much.

Apparently, the crew and nurses were _constantly_ on edge, nervous for the moment they would be torpedoed or hit a mine. When it finally happened, everyone just went into motion to do the things procedure said they should. For the most part: Two lifeboat launches were done without any orders while the ship was still moving, and both lifeboats got pulled into the still-spinning propellers. By luck, Violet Jessup survived despite a concussion, while a Boy Scout clung to a nearby lifeboat falls line. Most of the listed casualties were aboard those two boats.

    I wish I had've met Violet Jessop!
She was on ALL 3 Olympic class Liners! She was on both OLYMPIC during the collision with the HMS HAWKE, and she was onboard the TITANIC as a stewardess. Then she was onboard the BRITANNIC as a nurse's aid.
Opportunity missed! 😢 Those stories she would've been able to tell! ❤

Even if her career was cut short due to circumstances beyond her control (WWI), I think Britannic had the most noble end to her career.
Rather than simply be scrapped like Olympic, when Britanic met her end, she was faithfully serving her country and acting as a shelter to protect life. And her sacrifice was not in vain. Her mission was accomplished and her country's victory was attained.
She paid the ultimate price like a great many soldiers did in that war, but even in death she continues to serve life to this very day. Today Britanic acts as a shelter for the life that lives beneath the waves. She offers shelter for many fish and other sealife so that they may grow big and one day give life to us.
Britannic did her duty. And now she has earned the right to rest.
Rest easy Britannic. You did your duty and you did your country proud.

    • @McLarenMercedes
      @McLarenMercedes 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Well Olympic actually sunk a German submarine. It's one of the extremely few circumstances in which a civilian ship has sunk a vessel of war. Sort of like a zebra killing a lion. The captain of the Olympic spotted the sub and gave orders to ram it. The captain of the sub saw Olympic approaching at great speed and gave orders for an emergency dive. The sub just barely avoided the keel of the Olympic but the propellers then sliced the hull of the sub open.
Olympic did her duty in WWI too and transported tons of troops to their destination. She was targeted by German subs but none ever managed to sink her. Though there may have been a great deal of luck which contributed. While in dry dock during the war the hull was checked and a rather large dent was found. The angle indicated something hit her from the *side* . Most likely a torpedo. So this meant that a torpedo actually had hit the Olympic but had failed to detonate and therefore just left the dent. This wasn't uncommon during WWI and bad detonators (Germany suffered from a shortage of strategic metals and had to use whatever replacement they could find) made some torpedoes duds. This was also the case with the early torpedoes used by the US Navy during WWII in which they slammed into Japanese ships without going off. Some people had noticed this even before the war began but this issue was never remedied until they proved themselves highly unreliable during the war.
Pretty much all ships are scrapped in the end - no matter how highly successful and beloved they were. Aquitania served in *both* WWI and WWII. The years and wars took a heavy toll on her.
"She offers shelter for many fish and other sealife so that they may grow big and one day give life to us." Well, with the ever worsening condition of coral reefs due to bad pollution of the oceans this is going to be a small victory.
"Her mission was accomplished and her country's victory was attained." Let's not exaggerate here. Over 6000 ships were sunk by the German and Austro-Hungarian navies. Those several thousands more that managed to stay afloat granted the Entente its overall victory. Both the British and French had huge empires they could rely upon for vast quantities of goods for the war effort, but without ships they'd go nowhere. India's effort (then part of the empire) was huge: By the end of the war in 1918, more than a million Indian personnel had been sent overseas. As well as on the Western front, Indian divisions were sent to Egypt, Gallipoli and Mesopotamia. India also provided over 170,000 animals and 3,700,000 tons of supplies and stores, as well as ships from The Royal Indian Marine. Also jute for sandbags, and a large loan (the equivalent of about £2 billion today). 3,7 million tons of supplies to the Western Front and other British theaters of the war needed to be shipped.
Britannic was a hospital ship and took care of the wounded of the *disastrous* Gallipolli campaign (Churchill's idea).

Brittanic was a victim of very unfortunate circumstances all around from the beginning. The mine blast couldn't have hit at a worse spot than where it did. Knocked out the wireless antenna and steering. Certain water tight doors knocked and all of those open portholes to boot. The worst part is the miscommunication with propellers still turning and the 30 lives horrifically lost. Poor girl was doomed once the explosion happened. Great job and video. Remember the 30 that perished and always remember the incredible experience of Violet Jessop on all 3 of the sister ships 1st with the Olympic and the Hawk then Titanic and finally Brittanic. And she still continued to nurse and sail on more ships afterwards. Incredible woman. Bully for her 👏👏👏

I’m hoping someone could offer some insight because I’ve always wondered this. The mine caused the forward six compartments to flood, but that was within Britannic’s flood limit. So really, was the only deciding factor in her sinking any open port holes that would’ve allowed water to bypass bulkhead F (which went to B deck)? If I’m not mistaken, the wards were on E deck, and the nurses had opened those port holes earlier in the morning for ventilation, so that would’ve caused her to sink since water would ingress past the initially damaged compartments.

So if I understood correctly from the Oceanliner Designs video about Britannic's sinking, the open port holes for ventilating the ship were the final push that doomed the Britannic? That's kinda sad to think about..

I really hope we get a new Britannic movie soon! This one is so ultradetailed! Also, I thought this was the real time sinking that lasted an hour (since Britannic sank in 55 minutes)… this is just the final plunge. When’s the hour long real time?

Huh. Im really a geek regarding ocean liners and the Olympic class vessels in general, but I had no idea the steering gear got knocked out too.
I knew the cables for the marconia devices snapped, so they could not hear responses though.

and to think that today marks 107 years since the ship was created until its sinking
I liked all the effort that the white star line put into clearing his name and in fact
despite the fact that the britannic is the less recognized ship compared to her two sisters
unlike the sinking of its sister the Titanic to its sinking, it was less serious despite the pitiful loss of 30 people,
    were
-due to the more tolerable temperature,
    -more lifeboats
-and that there were more ships to the rescue.
Even compared to the remains of the Titanic, the Britannic sank in its entirety and if you want to visit it, it is safer at its shallowest depth and you only need to be a professional diver.

Each time the graphics get better and better, there are some very talented people designing and programing all of that, and they surely have out done themselves this time. The biggest improvements since the last Britannic sinking video would probably be the water and its dynamics, but surely there is other improvements on just about everything. I can't wait to see the final product for the Titanic. Keep up the great work.

Seems like it probably would not have capsized if they were not trying to turn toward an island it seems like that played a huge huge roll in the capsizing.
It may have sank upright if not for the hard turning.

Only the Olympic, the third sister ship, survived her full 25-year service to end up being scrapped. Three mighty ships were mighty dreams and visions of mighty industrialists who didn't understand words like "no" and "cant" and "too big" or "death" they just pushed on with their dreams.

Just a bit of a shame the internal curtains were hanging perpendicular to the deck rather than vertically as they would have been. Apart from that superb, and a fantastic level of attention to detail, such as fabricated outboard propellers but solid centre one and the aft funnel not having soot on it.

BRITANNIC suffered the same fate as LUSITANIA did a year ago. However, both ships listed on their starboard bow as the two ships began to sink, LUSITANIA sunk in just 18 minutes and BRITANNIC sunk in 55 minutes! Both famous British ships were lost during World War 1. Sad times to remember.
