    Here is my take... I use bumper because if the rear view mirror and have tried cockpit but has one massive issue for me which is the camera shake. Eas hoping it could be turned off but looks like you can't

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is 2 settings for camera shake wobble 1 and 2. 1 is pretty static and 2 is well pretty wobbly lol. Should be an option to turn it off completely tbf.
      Agree that the rear view mirror is a big advantage.

      @@wombleleaderracing6455 even the lower shake option is bad, F1 22 has the option to turn off completely and makes huge difference.
      But kudos to you using the cockpit view, i couldn't do it 😀

    Really like how you focus on one element of the game and science the living daylights out of it. Its a great differentiator for your channel. Any chance you could do a video for transitioning from TC1 to TC0? I found that transition tricky, and I would love to see how much benefit it gives in terms of laptimes, the way you did here.

      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Kryme appreciated.
      I have done TC videos in the past in a similar vain but the handling of the cars is easier now and TC isn't as useful as it used to be.
      I could maybe do an update at some point in the future.

    The only problem with bumper cam is the view when following. I'm using bonnet cam personalty but I find I have to using radar in hub, maybe its time for a change?

    I’ve always used bumper. I’m too far from my tv to see anything in cockpit view. I’ve assumed I like it for the open view. However… upon replays and playing with view settings, it is evident bumper gives a greater feel of speed - which can slow you down. It also surprises me how much less you see on crests. But the real kicker that surprises me most is flicking to 3rd person follow cam, I don’t like it, never have, but I’m staggered when I see how much more of ‘off track’ other people use ; it’s really only easiest to see when I put it into follow cam and makes me feel daft I’m not using all that extra firm surface beyond the white line. I think follow cam is easier to position the car for that. But I prefer the sense of immersion on bumper cam.

    • @jt663
      @jt663 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure who it was but at one point the quickest GT player used chase cam, with a wheel.

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I guess there is pros and cons in each view although some have more cons than pros lol.
      Like you I have noticed that I dont exploit the width of the track as much as some players, something that is definitely easier to do in chase cam. Iv accidently dipped a wheel onto the grass to often in cockpit view to risk maximising track width these days.
      Ultimately play in whatever view serves you the most enjoyment. I enjoy the immersion of cockpit view, some people like sense of speed, other like visibility and some regard competitiveness as most important.
      I just wish PD would give players a bigger selection of views and more adjustability.

    They have different FOV settings, bumper cam is a more natural look if you're close to your monitor/TV. If you sit further away, the cockpit view becomes more natural. If only GT7 had FOV settings.

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My understanding is that all views have the same FOV although what the FOV is actually set at is nobody seems to know the exact answer.
      Whither that's true or not I don't know but the track definitely feels slightly different in perspective from different cameras.
      As you said give us FOV options since its nearly 2023 and not 2003 lol.

    If roof cam had the rear view mirror I'd prob use it exclusively. I do like the bumper cam but it's a little too low for my liking. On a side note: I really wish PD would bring back the brake balance for daily races I miss having it like in GT Sport

    Everything seems slower in bumper, like you have more time to think. In cockpit, the limited view / tunnel vision seems to make everything speed up. For me anyway.

  • @tonic1330
    @tonic1330 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great stuff, as always! A seasoned cockpit driver such as yourself testing bumper is the best comparison for getting a measure of the difference. Vice versa is harder without lots of practice, I'd say. Unashamed EasyCam user here, after initially roof cam. I find EasyCam immersive esp. for sense of speed and 'feel' for rotation. Do you think if GT7 had FOV settings it would even things up?

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers Tonic appreciated.
      First thing I noticed when changing to bumper was how much easier the car rotated, almost like it had a different pivot point or the track felt more open.
      I reckon its purely a visibility thing that means you get the information you need fractionally quicker so you react fractionally quicker and it all just adds up over a lap.
      I'm not sure FOV settings would even it up tbh although they certainly need to have them. My solution would be to have an option where you can have the A pillars transparent when in cockpit view that would compensate for not being able to move your head. Might break immersion but would even things up I reckon.

      @wombleleaderracing6455 I see you insist on calling it bumper cam, it obviously looks like it at a glance, but on replays you will notice it's actually helmet or driver cam, just sans cockpit, it's why it feels most natural as it should, as that's what most cars are designed for

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hood cam would be better for judging width of car but think it would be similar speed wise with bumper cam. Im tempted to give it a bash in hood and see if can get a 46

  • @thagenral32
    @thagenral32 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well Done, I find that the turning radius is different through cameras. It may just be me can anyone else confirm this feeling? Im using A G27 via converter. Been using my my G27 since GT5. Bumper cam GT5/6. GT sport I made the switch to roof/cockpit. I'm about 1+ sec faster also easy in roof or bumper. I think we would play more cockpit if we had cockpit only lobbies. The way drivers approach the track would change a little due to visibility but maybe in a good way if you knew everyone was driving in that view it would keep you allow us to use it more. I think this all kinda touches into a customizable HUD because once inside cockpit view. I would love to use the radar in the bottom corner, rear view mirror at top depending on the car and everything else turned off.

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure its the turning radius that is different but I do feel the track is tighter in cockpit view....I put it down to you just seeing things fractionally earlier in the other views meaning you get the info fractionally quicker and can react fractionally quicker giving the impression the track is more open.....thats my theory anyway.
      In term of the hud I definitely think its time PD started realising not just casual players play and provide the expected customisation options that are common place in other driving sims.

    • @wombleleaderracing6455
      @wombleleaderracing6455  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is something about not being able to see any of the car that doesn't sit well with me. If I played in bumper I'd feel like I was just driving the same car all the time.
      I do with they would work on a proper bonnet cam though where you are on the bonnet right infront of the windscreen. To many of the roof cams are to high for me

    I really want to like the cockpit view, but the headliner, a-pillar and dashboard are too present. In my real car I never notice these things. Plus I don't need the wheel and hands animated, I can see my own, they are right there in front of me.

    • @stepasidejnr
      @stepasidejnr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I drive in cockpit, have wheel and rig. Monitor is 34', which is about 2mm from the back of the wheel. Dont know about gt7 settings for cockpit, but with gt sport, i would adjust the view so your wheel basically blocks out the wheel on the screen and try for a realistic distance between yourself and dashboard. The height the screen will coincide with each individuals height.
