I am a qualified and experienced restorer and craftsperson of some 30 + years. I love this type of tele as it is part and parcel of my own appreciation of old things and my dislike of the clinical, mass produced, cheap and meaningless.
I am afraid I couldn't stand Pritchard from the first episode.
In my line of work, one avoids certain types of people in the trade. Pritchard is one of those people.
He may fool an audience who know very little about the trade with his 'skimpy' knowledge but I wouldn't have anything to do with him.
From what I've seen in the show, he is just another cut throat dealer with his focus purely on £££ signs. (Not a pleasant character unless he's ripping you off and even then!!!)
I'm afraid I can no longer watch the show if he is in it!
Pritchard's demise does not surprise me.

@@morganowen875 The thing you have to remember with these sorts of shows is that an object is only worth something if someone will actually pay that much for it. Granted he might well have access to more rich nitwits than someone in a remote salvage yard, but there is a limit to what even rich idiots will buy.

Love Salvage Hunters, Drew makes it interesting, so informative and passionate about antiques and salvage. Miss having Rebecca in it but love Tee, so sad he is leaving.
Unfortunately poor old Rebecca has her hands full with that peace of work Pritchard. I just hope that she got her way with the men back at base before she divorced him. when that worm is hunting down & ripping people off. He looks like a pig & acts like one hungry to rip people off. You need to do your research on this excuse for a man.

There is always two sides to a story. However Rebecca was a good looking woman and Drew got the better of the deal. She seemed very loyal. Considering her looks I can't see what she saw in him. Hope she took him to the cleaners.

ahem, hate to be pedantic but its the English Pound in the UK and NOT the Dollar. Not everything is American and neither is our spelling, quoting money in dollars ruined an otherwise decent video about what had happened.
Used to watch the show but seeing naive customers/sellers being ripped off while he makes huge profits leaves a bad taste...especially when he buys from churches etc.

I don’t think he ripped people off, I’m in the trade albeit in a smaller way than Drew and the overheads are huge, he keeps people employed and has a client list that most dealers can only dream of. When I buy from people I tell them the truth, that I will give them 50% of what I will put it out at, most dealers have overheads and restoration for some items, plus people like to haggle which squeezes the profit line. You also have money that is always tied up in stock. Drew and dealers like him save a lot of items from landfill, let’s face it he picks up lots of items people think are worthless, renovates them and turns them into useful items that people want on display.
@@elizabethlovelock9613 I’m sorry but how much do you think he made from the filming?. Buying something for £100 & selling it for £1200 really is not 50%. I’ve watched him & been on his website. The concept of the show was great but it should have been someone else.
My friend and I watch his programme a lot when we get back from work. When I suggested that a lot of the people who sold items to him, and then watched the programme showing what he made from the items, my friend then pointed out that the reason he makes the amounts that he does, is because it is his name and reputation that makes it what its worth. Also that a lot of the people appearing on his shown were also showcasing themselves, and getting there own little bit of publicity, so there's that.

I can see the show is struggling at the moment with Tee in his long haired Covid phase. Still we get to see into fascinating old houses usually not open to the public. What a rich history the UK has and we can see it thanks to the show.
Tee looking manky is hardly a good ad.

Personally i cant watch it purely because of his ego even with the cars he knows very little but talks like he invented the wheel .i could watch rebecca all night shes on point charismatic and utterly believable .

Any mad who takes a look at a rusting shed of a car and claims that this is "patina" is to my mind a complete idiot. Cars are made of leaded steel and this stuff rusts at the drop of a hat if it is not protected somehow. European market cars are therefore routinely dipped in liquid zinc prior to painting these days, and are then painted with the best anti-rust compounds money can buy, all to stop the damn things rusting away before your eyes.
Rust is not patina. Visible rust is a cue to go looking for all of the invisible rust, body filler, bodged welding and other bodge repairs that a classic car is certain to have on it if it is in that state. Search and ye shall find, and if you're smart then the value of the car drops 10% for each defect found.
I also note that Drew Pritchard absolutely loves old VW Beetle cars. This rather sums the man up completely; form over function.
An old Beetle may look nice and curvy, but what you have is a vehicle that handles like a lame cow, will gas you if you're not very careful (single-skin mild steel exhaust heat exchanger for a heater system), is awkwardly laid out (battery under the back seat FFS) and if the road is at all icy rapidly becomes a complete nightmare to drive. It really isn't a nice vehicle to actually use at all.

There was a lot more to this character than we ever saw on TV. His show was quite popular and he had a talent for finding
out antiques certainly. However there was a dark side to his personal life & character. Infidelity was the least of it and sadly
his greedy, grasping nature became public knowledge.

most probably envy and a narrow-minded view may have played a huge role with some comments below. The show is really worth watching to learn a lot about English hard-working and dedicated craftsmen, wonderful traditional industries of Great Britain, inventions and design, view landscapes throughout UK, and not least get an insight of what most people would consider trash while he saw a potential in trying to revival, preserve historical pieces of furniture and accessories.

I really love this show and I learned a about antiques from Drew. I wish I could watch all the episodes in U.S.A but I cannot stream them at all for some reason.

Drew was a daylight robber, sometimes watching the show I thought 'you bloody stole that'. At times he was a cheeky shite offering such low prices and then jacking up the price himself. He was funny saying crap like, 'i dont like 5s, 8s or 9s' just so they would go lower... this is pure cheek and he got away with it, if I was a seller i'd of told him 'ok so you don't like £950 cos it starts with a 9, then £1000 it is and not a penny more', cos we know full well he'd sell it again for way way above that and still make a huge profit.
That's the name of the game. You just say no to him.

His job was to buy items cheap, get someone to tidy them up, and sell for a good profit - which is fair enough, I suppose, but I do wonder how many of the people he bought from looked at the prices on his website and thought they had been ripped off.

I like the episode when Drew goes to deal with Bruce from Combat Dealers he could not get the better of him on a deal.
I liked his programmes, as I am interested in both antiques and cars. But I find his egocentricity very tiring. He will have you believe that he is an expert in every area he mentions.
I think it can be filmed in the pawn stars shop in Las Vegas as a special episode, Rick Harrison and Drew will get along great, Rebecca should be with him.

I kinda enjoy the show as it was an easy watch whilst informative. Never liked the guy though, didn't know why, just can't get on with everyone in life. That American pickers has a similar vibe for me, I enjoy the show but not the 2 guys.

That's nine and a half minutes wasted. Not a single new thing in this.
The tv show was quite good, however on many occasions when people went to his shop they were not very welcome. It seemed to be that his only clients were for the richer society. By all accounts it was said that many of the local pubs etc had banned him, due to his attitude towards them. As a lot of people say there is always 2 sides to the story.

Yes exactly right but as we can see from the comments there are a lot of gossip mongers who can't function without being experts on his private life despite not knowing him at all. I wonder what we would find if we examined the gossip monger's private lives.
How old are his new gnashers!? All of a sudden, he was wearing expensive clothes and a new hat as well. One wonders who the transformation was for? I must live under a rock because I knew nothing of this affair. At the end of the day, he's no celebrity, I watched his shows quite happily when he started buying the good stuff. Very sad to hear of the issues. I always wondered why Rebecca was so damn thin; all of a sudden, she looked to have really aged. The thing is, once you become well known and start getting paid lumps of dough, it changes some people. I noticed a difference in him, how he spoke; dressed and of course the teeth. The thing is Drew had it all and decided to dismantle it. He outgrew his wife and probably a lot of other people. I knew there was more to that shop closing. The thing is, it can all end just as quickly and I imagine clients he's ripped off will stop calling eventually. It remains to be seen if he can salvage this fall from grace because it does affect people's opinions. If the show starts failing, what then? All his bridges will have been burned.

Watched Salvage Hunters since day 1 when Ceri was his”sidekick”and always thought Drew Pritchard played fair when buying and thoroughly knowledgeableand informative.
And hats off to the man he has such an eye.

I see several comments about him allegedly being banned from the Pubs and the locals being happy about that but now he's had the ultimate revenge by closing the store meaning that the many people who travelled to Conwy because of the show and who paid to eat and drink in the various pubs and buy from the local shops are no longer going there. Meanwhile he goes on from strength to strength after enjoying 14 seasons of success and now expanding the repertoire of shows. These are guys and a couple of gals that have dealt in antiques and collectables for decades and are very honest and pay a decent price for items AND live a far better life than Drew.
He was lucky in getting noticed by TV but there is another world out there for people interested in the pull of antiques and collectables.
Yes, whilst i realise all dealers want a bargain, there's something about slug guts that turns me off. A bit of the wide boy with charisma works better.

I must admit i did like the show until his shenanigans/roving eye became public knowledge. What i will say if he was such a bstd how was he able to gain excess to some highly respected establishments and as for ripping ppl off. I couldnt imagine some of the sellers where that naive. Must admit felt a pity for Rebecca when he let his balls run away with his brains.
It's the programme makers that arrange these visits for him.
