I've been stacking gold and silver for almost 20 years now and over the last 2 years I've only been buying platinum. The bull case for it is pretty clear and I also refer to it as the contrarian's contrarian metal

Great comment, thank you! I've been steadily adding to my platinum stack over the last five years myself with mostly one ounce coins. During that time I have sold a few coins to make sure I could convert PT back into paper currency. I'm looking forward to Platinums long term potential👍👍

I would prefer to have all 1 oz gold but currently it splits like this:
    7.5% - 1 oz gold pieces
    92.5% - fractional gold pieces
    1/10 oz
    1/4 oz
    1/2 oz
All three sizes spilt between Eagles and Brittanis’s with the following exception:
1 - 1/10 oz gold Lunar lll Tiger
1 - 1/4 oz gold Tudor Lion of England
One of the 7.5% 1 oz gold pieces is a Buffalo
I do not currently own any Platinum
    Cheers

Nice fractional gold stack MM! Mostly a stacker's stack with the AGE's and Brit's. That 1/4 Tudor Lion is a great collector gold coin, so I hope that will increase in value for you over time. Platinum is a speculative metal, IMO, so gold is a better play over-all. Thank you for sharing the details of your gold stack, great job!

I love and can really only afford fractional gold. I'm halfway to my goal of building an ounce of gold out of gram (1, 2, & 5) bars. I've had platinum on my radar and purchased some tenth oz. here recently. I pretty much grab it when I can. I really love the packaging on the Scottsdale Mint gram bars. Really nice.

    • @SilverStruck
      @SilverStruck  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think building a full ounce of gold by way of stacking different size gram gold bars is really unique. The premiums are not too bad on the 5 gram bars but the 1 gram gold is a little steep. I'll still pick the 1 gram gold from time to time but I stack mostly coinage in gold. Glad you acquired some Platinum!

I bought a ton of platinum eagles at an auction back in 04. The idiots sold them for silver eagle prices. If you want to find the dumbest people in the country check out Laurel Delaware. I love fractional gold but I try to stay away from anything under a 1/10th. I love gold sovereigns, pesos and francs. But I really go after the California fractional gold. It's old it's gold and it's cool.

That's a pretty neat type of gold to have in your stack- old school California gold rush era gold! A long time ago my LCS had a new employee that sold a bunch of platinum coins for silver price because she thought the coins where silver- ouch!

What exactly makes you think the government won't confiscate gold like they did in 1933?

Great point Daniel and valid question. The short answer is that know one could tell you for certain the government won't come for your gold. If your looking for an opinion, I find a scenario in which gold will be confiscated by the government very unlikely. I think the government will simply implement a high tax on the purchase and sale of gold and control the flow of gold that way vs confiscation. All the smart people back in 1933 shipped all their gold over seas anyway, so I don't think the government had thought that one through back in the day. Besides, I'm pretty sure the government lacks the resources to go door to door in 2022 to take your gold away. Keep stacking :)
