Totally agree- The movement is not a swiss ETA movement, the dial has lesser finishing, and the case is of lower quality. Dont get me wrong, I really like it, but its definitely not on par quality wise as a Hamilton Khaki. Ive got both and theres a big difference in feel and appearance. In time it wont hold up as good as the hamilton or the bulova hack.
I'm not going to argue your logic at all but for me, there's something about the Hamilton that I just never connected with. I had the bronze and I have the Hack as well. I couldn't imagine not having the Timex and Bulova. Maybe I'd have kept the Khaki if it would have been SS.
It was the first time piece I was ever introduced to. It was gifted to me as a child. I will always have room in my collection of watches for TIMEX. I'm very happy to see them stepping up their game. Great video.
The 41mm is 200m water resistance. Timex just killed it with this one. A few years ago if you said Timex would release a watch with titanium, sapphire, and an automatic movement I would have called you cockoo Cocoa Puffs
Found this watch at the Buckle store. Was not looking for this watch but for under 200 bucks I thought it was worth it. bought it and love it... Really nice looking watch for the price.
I'm looking for good things from Timex this year , you forgot the Timex & Hodinkee Skin diver I've got a lot of watches from Rolex to Steel dive the Timex is one of my favorites .
I have the Solar Powered 41mm Expedition North. I was convinced it was the better option when i had less horological knowledge. I prioritized the solar powered battery and “quieter ticking” over the mechanical version. I got it second hand for $99, but the seller didn’t tell me the Seconds hand was misaligned. Not sure if I’ll be able to service it, so I’ve learned to live with its imperfections
Yoooo, I was not expecting a cameo from the new Bulova Lunar Pilots. Question is do i sell my 45mm before the release or just stay cool and not get a 43mm. SO EXCITED FOR YOUR VIDEO!
I've got this watch, only thing I was disappointed with was the band...especially the no micro adjust for the price. It does look great on a dark green leather band in the end.
I think this is the only variant of this watch in mechanical. they do a 41mm titanium but it has an automatic movement (Miyota). I would love to see this watch in a 41mm mechanical. Absolute no brainer at this price.
I think these are cool releases. I didn't realize they were Seagull movements as a lot of their other mechanical watches seem to use Miyota, right? Does Miyota make a hand-wind movement that would work in this price range? I don't see an uncoated version of this watch on a stainless bracelet, at least on the U.S. Timex site. The base aesthetics of the coating are kind of cool, but I don't like how it appears to be uneven across the bracelet (inside the folds aside). I do really think their solar Expedition North watches are very cool. Those would be a great affordable grab and go quartz option. I wonder if they'll ever consider a full titanium bracelet version of their 41mm titanium Expedition automatic. I don't know what that would cost, but it would be cool. I think it's great they have a variety of sizes in the Expedition line to fit pretty much any enthusiast's wrist/preferences (36, 38, 41mm).
I would definitely agree with you this is a nice watch. However for the same exact sum of $259 Glycine Combat 42 provides Swiss automatic SW200-1 200 m diver with wifi is extremely thin - just 10.5 mm
I have a soft spot for Timex (a mechanical Timex was my first watch many decades ago) and I currently have four Timex watches in my collection - Marlin hand wound, Pepsi Q, Ironman and an Expedition Scout. But there is no way this watch is the equal of a Hamilton Khaki or a Bulova Hack. The movement is not the greatest and the bracelet looks subpar. I do not see this watch as even that much of an improvement over my Expedition Scout (which was $34 new and has been an excellent field watch).
Yeah.....hollow end links, pressed clasp without any adjustments, not a great bracelet, some kind of "paint" or coat that most likely is cheaply made and will eventually start to chip, chinese movement with probably 40ish hours of PR (vs 80h on the Hamilton). So..please tell us how it is a better watch than a Khaki Field lol I'd rather get a Seiko 5 SRPG27 as an example, if the extra cost of the Hamilton was a problem.
I have read several reviews on Timex's website that says the minute hand jumps 2 minutes when you push in the crown after setting the time. That is a pretty big flaw with the movement.
I love this watch except for the size. I need at least a 40mm case and would prefer a 42MM case. The limited option in this instance and with manual wind options in general is frustrating. I don’t get the preoccupation with automatic watches. They aren’t as accurate as quartz watches so the only reason to buy one is because they are more interesting mechanically than quartz watches. But the best way to engage the mechanical distinctiveness of a mechanical watch is by the daily ritual of winding it up. I hope the market expands the options.
It's a very nice looking watch, BUT it's a Timex and their watches are NEVER very well made, they use extremely poor quality materials and the manufacturing quality is always VERY poor. When there are other companies doing the same design with MUCH better finishing and materials for a THIRD of what they're asking for and this is just another joke of a watch from TIMEX.
Ya gotta love timex... they can take a beating and keep on ticking. started in America, moved to Switzerland, And made in China wooooooo!!!! TIMEX IS JUST TOO SWEET BROTHA....
Timex did a nice job, but there's no way it's better than a Hamilton Khaki Field.
Agree !

For 2x the price Hamilton had better be better 😅
@@robertmonson992 I paid $349 for the Hamilton
It was the first time piece I was ever introduced to. It was gifted to me as a child. I will always have room in my collection of watches for TIMEX. I'm very happy to see them stepping up their game.

Wait how have I not heard of this model?! This is a perfect field watch
I have one and don't have the fingerprint issue you did.
I'm looking for good things from Timex this year , you forgot the Timex & Hodinkee Skin diver I've got a lot of watches from Rolex to Steel dive the Timex is one of my favorites .

For inexpensive quartz seconds' hand misalignment is so common that it may be treated as feature 😢
For just a bit more you could get the Boldr Venture Titanium, my favorite field watch. That new Bulova chrono does look nice though.
Possible to vhange the strap to a green one
Anyone who thinks Timex is better than Hamilton might need a head check. Just comparing on price alone is not a fair comparison.
Chris! For favorite new Timexes- Don't forget the Q GMT that came out! Fantastic step-up for Timex.
Nice watches, what about the titanium automatic version, can you review that one?
Yoooo, I was not expecting a cameo from the new Bulova Lunar Pilots. Question is do i sell my 45mm before the release or just stay cool and not get a 43mm. SO EXCITED FOR YOUR VIDEO!
great catch! and I am looking forward to the Bulova video!
I just checked my bracelet and my links are coated all around each link 🤔.

Are you prefer a mechanical or automatic?
I have a question. Do you happen to know what the dial size is in mm for the 38mm case?
This is not bad. Don't use that link if you are in the UK, direct from timex the ss version is £210. The solar version for £150 looks good too.
What in your opinion is the toughest all round watch from
Timex
Seiko
Casio
Not bad. You're right, it would look good on a NATO or even a velcro-style strap given the somewhat tactical coloring of it.
I want this watch
Very nice - reminds me a lot of my trusty old Seiko 5 field watch. I like it!
Will you review the new timex todd snyder sky king mk 2 watch?
Watch Once-over posted a review of the Bulova Chrono. 6 days ago.
@2:20 "I believe it is a Seagul movement" then @3:16 "obviously it is a Seagul movement". Is it confirmed?
Yes it is
I have the earlier version on leather strap. I like the novelty value of winding it, but it's not very accurate. Mine is around -15 seconds day.

They don’t have a mechanical watches nor that price point.
I have a soft spot for Timex (a mechanical Timex was my first watch many decades ago) and I currently have four Timex watches in my collection - Marlin hand wound, Pepsi Q, Ironman and an Expedition Scout. Very nice, classic lines, healthy components. Well done 👍⌚️

Hello. Che meccanismo meccanico ha? Thank you .
The biggest problem I see is that movement inside the seagull. Other than that it looks like a great watch.
It looks great, but i think in terms of movement the Hamilton is way better.
It's strange how a Timex video has me scraping together some $ for an imminent Bulova purchase 😉
Lol
cool❤❤❤
It's $183 on Amazon. Very much considering.
👍👍👍 Nice Watch 👍👍👍
I wish you measure the accuracy of the watch by testing it on a timegrapher since it is a mechanical one.
I just recently got a time grapher and I will do that going forward
Islander Mitchell for me in this price bracket
I actually just picked up the Expedition North 36mm Solar and I like to think that it’s rig(t up there and respectable.
Number 1*
Number 4*
Very nice looking watch. I think a screw down crown would be a great upgrade.
Thanks for the review. Wish the minute hand was a bit longer.
Ah but is it better than a lorus lumibrite? - That's my hammy substitute.
I have read several reviews on Timex's website that says the minute hand jumps 2 minutes when you push in the crown after setting the time. That is a pretty big flaw with the movement.
I’m surprised y’all still care about sapphire crystal. Plastic has the ability to be much prettier.
Neither this or the titanium Timexs are as good as the Hamiltons. I have my Timex / James for sale after finally getting a Hamilton
I love this watch except for the size. I need at least a 40mm case and would prefer a 42MM case. The limited option in this instance and with manual wind options in general is frustrating. Timex lume sucks..you could see it fading as you were talking. I love my Timex’s but their lume sucks..
The coating looks awful.
It looks like a homage to Hami Khaki Field Automatic which is a much better watch. I see no point for this one..
You’re smoking crack if you think this is better than the legendary Khaki Field
No, the mechanism is just crap. I had the white & the blue dial , I literally put them in the trash. Really.
The movement in this is a nasty tiny piece of crap. You're better off buying a Hamilton or spending less on a quartz field watch!
Moist.
unfortunately too small for me, 40 mm is the minimum
This watch is SUCH A CRAP. HORRIBLE !!!
Ya gotta love timex... they can take a beating and keep on ticking. started in America, moved to Switzerland, And made in China wooooooo!!!! TIMEX IS JUST TOO SWEET BROTHA....
