In losing most of my sight to macular degeneration, I have only sewin enough to make some simple repairs, but I still love to see what everyone is doing. And I, too, recently adopted some helpers, like iron on glue to help me with a zipper, and started sewing some very simple bags! I have a large lighted magnifier lamp now to help. I just could not stand to NOT SEW! It has been my life for 30 years, and even if I don’t do it so well anymore, it still feels great to do it. I have learned to live with “good enough”. I gave up when it was no longer perfect, and that was a mistake. The one thing I always add to any bag or purse is a key leash! I travel by handicap bus, so I am often leaving or entering my home alone, and need to lock/unlock the door wile it waits for me at the curb. I don’t want to misplace or lose those keys, so I hand sew a key leash in my purchased bags! I use a large bag or backpack because I always take my iPad with me wherever I go, and keys get lost easily otherwise. Grograin ribbon works well. Sara, thanks for the many hours of pleasure your patterns have given me. I mostly live vicariously through your videos, but even if I can no longer tackle the more complicated things, I love seeing what everyone else does and what new things you come up with! Sewing will be my first love forever!
I so badly missed the show for the last two months. It felt like forever without sewcial Sunday.❤❤❤ For the bonus question, I love adding extra pockets.
Today was the first time I ever watched the program, LIVE. It was great! I especially appreciate the excellent camerawork/visuals. So many times it seems, I wish the cameras were closer in the videos. Yours are always great! Thank you!
I love your bolero, nice job! So often , my upper back and arms are chilli. As always thank you for good instruction and Danny's pics are all amazing. Great as welll.
I’m getting ready to buy one of your patterns (first time customer) and after seeing this Bag Lab, I’m going to order the pattern video as well. You are thorough without dragging it out. Appaloosa Bag, here I come!
Great bag lab. I liked the variety of zip pulls too. Always seem to add extra pockets to totes or other bags for things like hotel room keys. It comes in handy while traveling.
It is a pleasure to see u & hear Danny :-)). I have modified ur bags to add specific interior pockets as well as a pocket as a holder for my large water bottle on the outside w elasticated top to keep it snug. That is placed on the side of the bag. Be well. See u next month.
I really appreciate the time and effort you put into the videos you and Danny create. I do miss watching weekly, but I am sure you and your family are enjoying your extra time together! ❤
The bag lab on the hinged zipper was clear and concise. I really enjoyed watching and I will now try adding it to my wallet!! Thank you Sara with no h for your efforts to teach and show us. You make things look so easy!
I seem to find the need to add a zipper pocket somewhere. Sara, last week in one of my Zoom sewing groups, we were trying to help me to decide between my making your craft caddy or one from By Annie. I DO NOT quilt but I want to use Soft and Stable By Annie. I was pleasantly surprised how many of the other sewists remarked of having made one of your patterns. I really made me feel part of the group. Thank you for your ingenuity and creativity. By the way, your pattern is my choice because your tutorials are so well done and easy to follow.
Hello Sara I like to add credit card slots, with an ID window. Great show again, love your crochering and it inspired me to order the book 😁! Thanks very much and hope you have a great month ahead.
I missed the live show, but just caught it now, and I really really enjoyed the entire show with all the things you showed. LOVED all of your beautiful fabrics! I enjoyed watching you make the hinged zipper pocket also! You are amazing, and I just love watching you...yout tips are so useful and helpful. Thank you both for all you do. I love to add a zipper pocket and sometimes credit card pockets to my bags and wallets...
Thank you for the hinged zipper pocket tutorial. I thought about the question, having the “hing” on both sides. It would not work for a zipper closure, but a flap with a magnetic snap would work.
Another great show. Love the bag lab topic this week you made it look do-able to add a hinged pocket. I like to add a slip pocket to the back of a bag, great for security, as it's close to the body when the bag is worn, but easy to get to.
Thank you for teaching the hinged zipper! I add key fobs to my bags and extra pockets. You can never have enough pockets. Especially a pocket for your phone!
Another great show Sara and Danny! I loved all the new zipper pulls and tape! And the cat bag fabric!! ❤😻 I love making zippered pockets so I always add those to bags I make Thanks for all you do, I have so many of your patterns and love them all! Take care.
I love the bag pack selections. The quartz patterns ate stunning, especially the pink! Most of the bags I make are small cross body and I think they always need a slip pocket on the outside whether that's in the pattern or not
I really like the lady bug zipper pulls! UFOs? - really none. Lots planned but not so much UFOs. Thanks for the bag lab demo - I will definitely use that one.
I always add an inside zipper pocket if one isn’t called for. On wristlets, I always add credit card pockets. I also add the credit card pockets to the interior of the front pocket on the Blazing Star.
I really enjoy your videos. You provide such detail. I also like the way you and Danny work together🧡 I add a water bottle sleeve to all my larger totes. I simply sew a rectanglar piece of fabric (lined with decovil light) across the side seam - leaving 3-4 inches unsewn in the middle. You can slide the water bottle through the unsewn opening. Simple but very effective! Have a great month!
Great show, Sara and Danny! I love you showing your crochet and the new zipper pulls and bag packs. I ALWAYS add a key leash to every tote and large bag, even if it isn’t in the pattern.
I love your bolero! I can’t believe you have crocheted so many beautiful patterns already! Have you really just started to crochet? Your blanket will be beautiful, too! Very nice labels! I like your idea for the label to use with a rivet. The Bag Lab was very helpful! Yes, you are the reason I got my TL- 2010Q! I love it. It sews so easily and smoothly! Thanks for all of your creativity!
I always add card slots and a back security pocket with a small flap even if the pattern has a zipper pocket in that area I will probably start useing your hinge pocket for change since I always just throw it in my purse maybe I can get a little more organized since I don’t like wallets .
QUESTION : I usually add pockets (I am not very adventurous 😀). Hi Sara and Danny, so long without seeing you. I used to watch every week but due to health reasons I haven’t been able to attend as much. Now I added the monthly calls to my calendar and I hope to be with you (and back to the store) as well. Missed you a lot !
Awesome video so well done. I will attempt this pleated coin pocket now where I wouldn’t have before. Depending on the bag size a slip pocket for a tablet or laptop could be added.
I make bags for family and friends. It is wonderful to see new products I may incorporate in future bags. The item(s) I always incorporate is love. I express it by picking fabric and hardware specific to the person. I receive so much joy searching and picking out the items. The lesson I have learned is that the receiver may not show enthusiasm that matches my level of excitement, and this is ok. Perhaps that is the true meaning of giving.
I love the variety of things you discuss throughout the show. I always add a sliding pocket and zipper pocket to all my bags and a small D ring outside of the bag for sanitizer holders that I embroider to match my bags. Thank you for a chance to participate in a giveaway.❤
The item I like to add to a bag even though it is not in the pattern I add an easy access cell phone pocket and sometimes I add a grommet to access earphones for people who still use earphones with wires.
Love your bolero! I have about a dozen UFO’s. At least a quarter of them are quilts ready to be long armed, just not sure where to have it done. My sister-in-law had a really bad experience with a someone who was highly recommended to her by several people so I have been hesitant to get them done but I really need to get them done.
Love the teal and chartreuse zipper tapes, teal is the colour of Ovarian Cancer in the UK, not sure if its the same in the US, I make lots of teal items through the year to sell for their charity.
Your bolero looks amazing. I just cannot crochet. I can knit but not crochet. You are going to town! Sorry I missed the live show. Was with family. I love Heartwood and Hide labels. I thought the cork colors looked familiar! To answer your question you question, I don’t usually add much to a bag. I just follow the pattern. 😂
I always add a hidden monogrammed pocket! I love seeing all the fabric variations, thanks!

I do so much miss the weekly shows, but I am thankful for the monthly shows and look forward to them.
I appreciate that you show all the steps-no skipping and fast motion. Thank you.
I just love all the inspiration from the photos people send in of your patterns! And I like to add extra pockets when I can.😊
I so badly missed the show for the last two months. It felt like forever without sewcial Sunday.❤❤❤

So nice to have you back online! I like to add pockets in my bags. Love your new zipper pulls.

What fabulous storage cubes and the variety of uses. Thanks for putting those together and showing them!
I love your zipper pulls and the picks of the week were stunning! I definitely like to add additional zipper pockets!

i usually add a key fob in the lining to easily locate keys. Thank you for the great tutorial on the hinged zipper pocket.

Great job on your crochet projects. For just learning your running with them. Great, great job!!!
I don’t usually add anything to your patterns! They are pretty complete! Thank you!
Thank you for the hinged zipper pocket tutorial. I thought about the question, having the “hing” on both sides. It would not work for a zipper closure, but a flap with a magnetic snap would work.

Loving Danny’s picks…he is so much more confident about describing them and picking out the details that he likes! He has a good eye for quality.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your video. I picked up some tricks and tips on hinged pocket. Thanks for your generous sharing.❤️
Another great show Sara and Danny! I loved all the new zipper pulls and tape! And the cat bag fabric!! ❤😻
I love making zippered pockets so I always add those to bags I make Thanks for all you do, I have so many of your patterns and love them all! Take care.
Loved that zipper tutorial! Learned some great tips.
I like to add a D ring, so that I can attach a little something.
I love the bag pack selections. The quartz patterns ate stunning, especially the pink! Most of the bags I make are small cross body and I think they always need a slip pocket on the outside whether that's in the pattern or not

Your channel is one of the most inspiring I've ever watched. Thank you both for all you do!
Great show. I am working my way up to more complex bags and find helpful info here. Love the stripe zipper tapes.
This you tube was so interesting….I can’t wait to to make one of these hinged pockets. I often will add a pocket or additional pockets to bags.
I always add an inside zipper pocket if one isn’t called for. On wristlets, I always add credit card pockets. I also add the credit card pockets to the interior of the front pocket on the Blazing Star.

Have a great month!
I add little loops in both side seams. That way they can hook their keys on it and they don’t end up in the bottom of the bag
Also like the zipper pulls; plain is good for me but also loved the the apple, one looked like a feather, card player etc
The cork labels were great! I like the ones that you attach with rivets.
Love the variety of topics in this show.....BRAVA Sarah🎉
I love adding bag feet. For certain projects it elevates the quality.
Great show, Sara and Danny! I love you showing your crochet and the new zipper pulls and bag packs. I ALWAYS add a key leash to every tote and large bag, even if it isn’t in the pattern.
This is perfect, I never could figure this out and have wanted to know how it was done. Thank you so much.
Love the yellow and bright blue zipper tapes. The bright red was interesting as well.
I love your bolero! I can’t believe you have crocheted so many beautiful patterns already! Have you really just started to crochet? Your blanket will be beautiful, too! Very nice labels! Just read a comment about your crochet project and need to second the applause 👏 Makes me think I need to learn a new skill
I love pockets so I always add additional zipper and slip pockets wherever possible.
I often add slip pockets in different sizes depending on what I plan to use the bag for
I always add card slots and a back security pocket with a small flap even if the pattern has a zipper pocket in that area I will probably start useing your hinge pocket for change since I always just throw it in my purse maybe I can get a little more organized since I don’t like wallets .
If I add anything to a bag, it’s usually another zipper pocket - I can always use another zippered pocket. Loved the show and the demo - so clever.
Thanks for the great tutorial. I always add my label to my bags. I think I t adds a professional look to the bag.
I like to add extra pockets.
Thank you for showing this technique, I am going to give it a try.
Your bolero was pretty ! You are so talented Sara!
Thanks Sara, great show I enjoyed the variety and use your videos as my go to on projects.
I am so glad I was able to watch you live.
Depends on the bag but I like a place to put ink pens so most of the time I add a pen pocket.
Love the fabric combinations. So pretty. 🤩
Love the Bolero… can’t knit but plan on searching for a sewing pattern after the show!!!
Sara, I love your show. I need all of the help I can get. I am to new to bag making to add anything yet.
Thank you for simplifying the gusset for the zipper pocket!

Thx Sara for sharing your skills! I add either an inside zip pocket or tag with clip for keys to a bag pattern that does not include them.
Thanks for doing the show again!
Awesome video so well done. I will attempt this pleated coin pocket now where I wouldn’t have before. Depending on the bag size a slip pocket for a tablet or laptop could be added.
I've been making bags and wallets for several years now and I always learn something from your videos. Thank you Dian Stanley
I always add an extra zipper pocket. I like two. Certain bags I add cc slots too
Great show. I loved Danny’s picks.

So fun to watch the show! Nice job.
I like being organized so, I always add more pockets to my bag makes.
Also put 2 pocket and put a snap in the purse to hold keys
Great tutorial on a hinged zipper! What do I always add to a bag? My bags ALWAYS have an interior zipper pocket and a divided slip pocket.
Loved the fabrics with the gold running through the designs.
I have 4 unfinished projects. Love the new zipper pulls.
I love to add ribbon, it gives the bag such a unique look❤.
The hinged pocket is great! I’m going to try that!
Hope you, Danny, and family are doing well!!
Always nice to add a label or an extra pocket
The item I like to add to a bag even though it is not in the pattern I add an easy access cell phone pocket and sometimes I add a grommet to access earphones for people who still use earphones with wires.

Your crochet skills are amazing for a beginner.🥰🥰🥰
A pocket always and a zipper pocket. Thank you both.😊
Difficult to choose, but I really like the stein, artist palette and gold "art deco" pull.
I love the snail zipper pull and that hunter green zipper tape is lovely 💚
To answer the question, I try to add rivets in places that I think will get a lot of wear and tear.
I always put a front pocket for a tablet on the cavalcade bag
Love the teal and chartreuse zipper tapes, teal is the colour of Ovarian Cancer in the UK, not sure if its the same in the US, I make lots of teal items through the year to sell for their charity.
I like to add a keyminder! It's quick and easy and also super helpful.
I was in Europe for 3 weeks and so sad I missed your monthly chat. I'm hoping I can join shows in the m up coming months!
You always have such an interesting show!
Bonus answer! I am a knitter, so I add more pockets and an inside D-ring to clip on a pouch for small items.
Great job on the hinged pocket!!💖😊

Thank you so much for that fantastic bag lab tutorial!!
Thanks Sarah, looking into the crochets book.
Love the pleated pocket. I think I will try to pleat on both sides
I add ID windows and extra pockets the most.
