The musicians, dancers, etc received very little publishing and were paid most for touring. Quintanilla invested quite amount of money to begin Kumbia Kings and said to the guys the first thing that needed to be done was getting the money back he invested. Then the group could start making money. But most of the guys didn’t really make any significant money. Dj Kane was a high paid member of the group. Frankie J made some money but obviously got a record deal with a major US record label and left, but was sued by Quintanilla for leaving.
None of the originals left with Cruz to Form Los Super Reyes. By that point the only originals we’re AB, Cruz, & DJ Kane. Everybody that went on to form Los Super Reyes joined the group after 2002.

And yes, they are touring in Mexico as we speak cause AB Quintanilla won’t challenge Cruz Martinez using the name Kumbia Kings in Mexico. It’s not worth his time and money. But, Cruz Martinez won’t bring Kumbia Kings to the US or use the name here cause either he would have to pay Quintanilla royalties from every show or it’s possible Quintanilla would sue him not to use it. Point being, you won’t be seeing Today’s Kumbia Kings in the US.

AB’s & Cruz’ relationship was never the same and continued to deteriorate when four of the original members of Kumbia Kings which included two of Cruz’ first cousins left the group over what they felt was lack of fair compensation. Those guys went on to form Kings1 and released their first album at the same time Kumbia Kings released Fuego. Fuego was the last album AB & Cruz worked on together, if you don’t count a live album and a remix album they released before 2006. The break up of AB & Cruz in 2006 was years in the making and didn’t happen overnight. In 2012 The Ramirez brothers won a lawsuit against AB for compensation they felt they were entitled too in they’re years with Kumbia Kings.
