For nearly 10yrs Tottenham fans wanted Sol Campbell to win the Premier League at White Hart Lane, then the year he did win the Premier League at White Hart Lane they still got upset 🤷♂️
It is kinda cool how both spurs and arsenal had traitors that betrayed them and joined their big rivals of the era(Campbell from spurs to arsenal, Van Persie from arsenal to utd) and both times it was when the club needed them.
Nothing near as close to Mo Johnston former Celtic player close to joining Celtic for a second spell changes his mind and suddenly signs for rangers being rangers first ever catholic player
Tottenham could have avoided this as the season before Sol had 2 years left in his contract and Manutd offered a record amount of 16mil and Alan Sugar rejected it and was playing silly games with Campbell so he gave them what they deserve and won the league at White Hart Lane with Arsenal. 😅
Not even close. Sol Campbell was in his prime during the move and Ronaldo has a full trophy closet and wasn't moving for that reason. This was 10000x worse. This would be like Ronaldo going to Barcelona in like 2010.
No way was Figo worse. Sol came from the Tottenham youth academy, played for the club for almost a decade and was the captain. Add to that the fact that he was a free agent. People take free agents for granted now but the Bosman rule only actually started in 95 and this took place in 2001 so by that point a lot of teams had still never even signed a free agent before unless their club had released them. Basically Sol was 27, one of the best defenders in the world and he was free at a time where free players were still a relatively new thing. His agent could have called any club on planet Earth and got him a contract. Madrid, Milan, Bayern. Who's going to say no to a world class player in the middle of his prime on a free? And with all these options he decided to choose the only club in the world that he shouldn't have signed for. That's way different to Madrid smashing the world transfer record to bring in a Portuguese player with no ties to the club other than he played for them. Sol was with Spurs since he was a schoolboy.
@@MinisterManDan Never. Dude just in the decade prior to the Figo transfer we saw Bernd Schuster, Michael Laurdup and Luis Enrique all transfer directly between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Not saying the Figo move wasn't a bad one but Sol was much worse for the reasons I said before.
@@SonnyK248None of the three you mentioned were loved by either Madrid or Barca before switching the way Barcelona fans loved Figo before he went to Madrid. They threw severed pig heads at him lol. At the end of the day Sol Campbell went from a mediocre mid table team to the team that was consistently first or second in the league every year. It's just never going to be as big a deal to from a small club to a much bigger one than to betray a club like Barcelona.
@@MinisterManDan of course they were loved 🤦♂️ Were they loved as much as Figo? No. But that doesn’t change the fact that players were switching between Madrid and Barca every few years leading up to that transfer. And no one had made a move across the north London divide since black and white TV’s. Add to that Figo was signed from Sporting and Sol was an academy player who rose up to become captain, and the fact that one was a world record fee and the other walked out on his club for nothing after saying all year that he was staying and could have potentially gone anywhere in the world and chose literally the only club on Earth that would have spited his former club and it’s not close. The Figo deal gets brought up more often because he was a better player than Sol. He was arguably the best player in the world when he signed for Madrid. But just because he was a better player doesn’t mean his move was a bigger betrayal than Sol Campbell. Academy kid turned captain lying to his club and his fans about staying and then leaving on a free to join your biggest rival is about as bad as it gets and if you don’t understand that then maybe you’re young or just don’t understand football pal 👌
First, you realize your club won't back you with your legal issues. Then you realize your club is Tottenham. Who wouldn't immediately leave?!
Coupled with the fact he wasn't going to win anything! No silverware no medals, nowt for the grandkids --nothing to remember!
He scored for us in the champions league final will never forget that

Let's not forget George Graham was the manager of spurs at the time.Made it more sweet.

Really big win for Arsenal fans to get him on board hahah COYG!!
LEGEND....he's always welcome to the red side of North London!!!!
Van Persie says hold my beer
Another Sportskeeda banger 💥
Imagine this happening now!!! Wouldn't even be a big deal. That's the reality.
U bugging
@@DasSurikat Yep
Yeah, if Kane joined Arsenal instead of Bayern, the spurs fans wouldn’t of even noticed
Are you stupid? It obviously still will lmfao.
No current spurs player would get into the Arsenal squad
There is a similar one in Portugal: João Vieira Pinto captain of SL Benfica that moved for free to the rival Sporting CP
As an arsenal fan... big up Sol Campbell
Arsenal legend
Jimmy Tau moving from Orlando Pirates to Chiefs

That was indeed a terrible tackle by ROY Parlour.

The transfer of Steven Berghuis from Feyenoord to ajaks.
Come on lads, it's Tottenham. Figo was worse.
It’s not just Tottenham! Tottenham were the club who made Judas Campbell the player he was as he came through their youth academy!
Who is Roy Parlour ? His name is Ray.
"We're all having a partaaayyyyyy..."

Great Video. 😅
This would have been the case in Cristiano Joined City instead of returning to United.

Judas! & he hates being called it by people 🤣. It really seems to bug him in interviews I’ve seen!
You can’t really blame Campbell for wanting to win trophies
he could have went to barca inter or bayern but chose arsenal
@ look banter aside your captain going to your fiercest rivals is always going to make them hated. Sol should just accept they’ll never let it go
Wtf is Social Medier? 1:53
Social Media💀💀
Van Persie was worse because he was a much better player. Campbell pfft
Hey spurs, look arsenal stole Campbell
Fiorese to Marseille
This was not a bigger betrayal than Figo to Madrid. Come on.
Someone should send this to expressions 😂
