Honest Trailers included that tweet from JD Vance to show that over the top criticism of Star Wars and other SFF media has been a right wing project for a long time. I like how you react to both the Honest Trailer and Pitch Meeting in one video. It just goes to show… The power of ONE The power of TWO… The power of MANNNNYYYYYY
1:18, the creator and show runner openly bragging about how gay the show is, how Star Wars is gay, “nerds are gay” and R2-D2 is a lesbian doesn’t sound quite like it’s just a show that wants to acknowledge that girls exist and sometimes are good at stuff. And in the same interview they framed Luke Skywalker as a murderer for blowing up the Death Star. When they advertise it that way, you can’t legitimately complain when people think a show like that will be too “woke”.
Honest Trailers has become so predictable: whenever they don’t want to ‘offend’ a show they like they make the critiques political to circumvent any real critique. It’s sad how they started so well years ago and how much they’ve regressed.
Yeah, nope, Phantom Menace was still top tier for me. Revenge of the Sith was dope, but it was all style over substance for me. It was cool to watch, but I felt nothing until the end of that fight.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I recommend watching the fight autopsies from Shadiversity. I appreciated the fights a lot more after seeing the smaller details. Theirs style, sure, but there's more substance than you'd think at first glance. It's just hard to see because things went so fast.
Honest trailers just used the time to make fun of people who don't like the show and said almost nothing about the show itself and why it was either good or bad. Pitch Meeting exposed the Acolyte for all the unbelievably stupid set ups in it and made it clear why the show is horribly constructed/written/acted and like Ryan said, has no soul.
Screenjunkies doesn't understand what a Mary Sue is, nor understands the Lore implications of making the Chosen One not special in origin. The coven of lesbians just didn't help, nor the near instantanteous bleeding of the lightsaber. Or the horrible writing, plotting, and lack of personality from main actresses. The dis track was bad PR, too. Luke is not a boring hero, and the prequels were awesome in the ways they expanded the Lore. They showed the flaws in the order without having them look like villains, showed their role in the Galaxy, the Lightsaber Forms were developed from them, etc. And yes, getting to know Palpatine, Vader, and Yoda to see how they got to where they were in the original trilogy was good, too. Luke in the Mandalorian was generally good, but I don't like how he was in Boba when he was continuing the flawed practice of no connections. Luke was all about friends and family in the original trilogy, so the Expanded Universe having Luke's Order embrace relationships and emotions like love is better than what Disney ever did. As for the lightsaber fighting, it seems the best since Return of the Sith, but Shadiversity explained how much of it is worse than Revenge of the Sith, so it's still pretty flawed.
Was waiting for your reaction to this since the pitch meeting dropped, knew it'd be a fun one. You know it's a good pitch meeting when you rewind multiple times to catch the jokes again. Appreciate you reacting to it!
19:14, that raises a lot of questions about older shows like The Clone Wars since there are scenes of Jedi having to use Sith lightsabers and Sith having to use Jedi lightsabers and their colours don’t change
They intentionally destroyed star wars, the argument that people grow tired of the same things is just not true... Take One Piece, what ever you think about this show, its running for 20 years now and has more fans than ever and the old school fans love it more than ever. Nobody grew tired of it... because the quality of writing is more or less consistent.
5:14 Clone Wars also had a Wookie jedi. It's rare but happens. 6:26 not them disregarding all the animated shows (many of them are quite good imo, better than the live-action stuff anyway) 15:20 George said that line in an interview once.
Regarding Star Wars Timmys falling down wells.... 1. Okay... Luke fell down the shaft on Cloud City but it was intentional, and he survived because he had help and we watched him survive, and it was a plot point to A. get away from Vader and B. show us that via Luke's growth in the Force, for the 2nd time that movie, he was able to bend the Force to his will...in this case Force-call Leia. 2. Boba Fett in the Sarlac Pitt. It was a Legends short story that allowed him to survive by way of within hours he literally blasted his way out. He wasn't some unarmed and unarmored prisoner that went that way. So, while it's a LITTLE ludicrous, it's at least partially believable IN THAT WRITTEN WORK. The way they did it in BOBF was just lame. But okay... badass warrior that went in armed managed to survive. Fine. 3. Palps getting thrown down the core shaft and exploding into energy right before Death Star II gets obliterated... That's a no way... BUT he was back because he had cloned himself. THAT actually was explored in another Legends book trilogy by Timothy Zahn... but it was EARNED. In TROS it was just magically done... there was no build up. And in a 1st person or limited 3rd (where we ONLY follow the Resistance) it might be more credible... but even the First Order didnt know? And somehow theres a whole Sith army of minions being run by a half-functional clone? Nah man. You have to show us how or it didnt happen. BUT.. the original Palps did NOT survive the Death Star... as is being implied. (But the clone was completely unacceptable as presented and nullified. It was garbage writing.) 4. And then there's Maul. While i absolutely LOVE the rehabilitated Maul in the Clone Wars series and his monologue with Ahsoka was great as he realizes he's the ONLY one who understands whats going on.... he's like the dark side version of Fives. While i love how he was utilized... theres no way he wasnt DOA when he hit the bottom of that shaft he fell in after being chopped in 2. Biology doesn't work that way. So... Filoni got us with Maul. GG Nobrains got us with Palps. Filoni kinda got us with Boba Fett, but that WAS at least prefaced with Din Djarin blasting his way out of a krayt dragon iirc. This whole "no body no death" with Mae was just a retarded setup used WAY to much... "no way he could have survived that fall"... regarding Obiwan during Order 66. Or any of a hundred other movies. Its a worn out trope.
@OnMyMindEntertainment "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?"...."She goes from Nashville to Norway, Miami, Zimbabwe, Chicago to Czechoslovakia and back!" Such a bouncy song. The acapella group was fire! 🤣
I wouldn't say woke, but Ryan's Elon video outed him as being very deep in the left/mainstream narrative. At least until the election, I'm unsubbed from him. There are plenty of legitimate things to call Elon out on, but losing money in order to support free speech (or at least alternative speech) was NOT a poor business decision. It wasn't a business decision in the first place, it was about politics and, if one is optimistic, morals and the fundamental right of free speech. A comedian can admit their biases and run with them, or stay apolitical and mock both sides, but trying to mock only one side while failing to admit bias comes off as disingenuous.
I don't think the Special Editions or Prequels ruined Star Wars. You definitely had the older losers like RLM and The People vs George Lucas "fans" who hated those additions, but the ruining was never on par to what Disney did.
You just did the best reaction to the Acolyte Pitch Meeting I've seen. You caught every one of his rapid-fire jokes and you have an infectious laugh. Great fun. Thanks.
I'm so glad you rewound it to get the full impact of the "No soul" joke. I saw another reaction where they missed it (for commenting on the previous joke leading up to it), and I think that's the best couple lines in the whole pitch meeting.
The problem with the show is that it was written like a fan fiction by someone who barely knows the IP. "You know the Jedi? They're actually the bad guys." "You know that thing that made Anakin so important and unique that there was a prophecy about him? Yeah, our characters did that too. Twice even." "You know the Sith that made Anakin? He actually stole the idea from our characters." Also things they would say: "What do you mean Ki Adi Mundi won't be born for several more decades?" "What do you mean bleeding a kyber crystal red is a long physically and mentally intensive process?" "What the hell is the Rule of Two?"
There's definitely bad cops who do some heinous sht..If they wanted to show that with Jedi? They could have done a deep dive into Jedi Master Pong Krell...He was a whole MENACE!!
I personally think, that the Idea of experiencing the view of the dark side is interesting but they either had to hire more competent writers or they should have adapted one of the stories that already exists within the whole star wars universe. Just off the cuff I think that adapting the Sith Warrior Storyline from SWTOR could have been great, specifically "The Padawan's Fall". A young woman from a modest family in service to House Organa (Hey, look, we can coopt another name) with a rare ability in the force becomes a Padawan of the Jedi Order, learns how to use her ability and is immediately used by her Master for the Republic, which puts her in the crosshairs of Darth Baras and his Apprentice. The Apprentice ultimately reveals the flaws and darkness within the Padawans Master and convinces her to join the Sith. It is perfect, because there is room to pad out the story, there is both incredible power and incredible narcissism within the ranks of both the Jedi and the Sith. There are wise people and utter fools, lies, honesty, deceit, serenity and utter devastation, ancient Rituals and Powers.... and over all you get a great idea of what a SIth truly is. I give this Show one point: I think Qimir did a great job as a Sith. Twisting Words, using convenient lies and taking advantage of a former Padawans lack of knowledge and the fact, that the Jedi are not perfect, however much they aspire to be. It very much reminded me of the Padawans Fall. Unfortunately, the rest of the show is just incredibly lacking in every storytelling aspect. My main issue with the Acolyte though is something I already despised with the Witcher Series: If you want to tell a story, all the power to you, but if you want to put it under an established name, you have to respect the original material. If the Series was called "The Space Witches" nobody would bet an eye. But they just had to set this within the Star Wars Universe because it conveniently has an established fanbase. In my opinion, Marvel ruined Visual Media because now every film and every series has to be part of a universe. But why? Why not tell original stories? Do they all lack imagination? Don't get me wrong I loved the MCU (though Endgame concluded the MCU in my book) but I am tired of all this lack of creativity. It is all just frustrating to me.
Headland said from the beginning that she pitched it as Kill Bill meets Frozen, and the Jedi wouldn't be shown in a good light..I was sold! But that the Jedi were so incredibly incompetent that Sol couldn't finish a sentence over 8 episodes??nah.
new to this channel. you picked two awesome ones to react to. i was laughing the whole time. they so expertly skewer everything. ryan edits his stuff so well. the timing is always perfect.
The kyber crystal thing was cool, but not how it was done in the show. In the Vader comic its a whole story where Vader wrecked by the Jedi he has to kill to earn a lightsaber, then uses dirty tactics to beat him, then infuses his hatred and pain into his kyber crystal to bleed it / turn it red before building his own lightsaber. In this show, Osha's just touching the crystal and boom it becomes red as soon as she turns it on. It felt so forced and unearned in how effortless it was because there was NO intent on her part to do that. The entire show is an endless number accidental plot points, making Osha and Mae seem like people along for a ride rather main characters, lol. Bland MCs + forced story telling is just a recipe of bad writing, and its so bizarre that it was allowed to be so poorly executed.

I disagree on the lightsaber battles being good. They are swinging above each others head and then there's multiple openings which they never attempt to do. Just watch them back and they purposly miss when Darth Sexy has his back turned. It was a complete turn off for me when I saw how bad the choreography was. Whoever coordinatored it did a poor job and I'm disappointed that they had all this money and time and they clearly didn't practice the scene enough and they didn't bother to reshoot the scenes until it was good.
There are some really good actors who give good performances for what they were given. I did like the flights. I'm at the point in my life where I like Star Wars but I'm also not expecting much from Disney.
Most of the battle scenes in this show were excellent (up until the end in some of them) and Lee Jung-Jae was an excellent actor, Qimir's actor was decent, and that's it. Even the characters you like early in the show get destroyed by the end so there's nobody to cheer for.
I'm mindblown that people find Qimir good or even great... In the beginning he's fake and awkward.. Then the "mask drops" pun inteded (in episode 5) and he just becomes Osha's SIMP!... He kind of calls himself a sith - Leslie Headland confirms he's a sith. Then she backtracks, then she says you'll know what he is, but not from Qimir's mouth - THEN she says he's Plagueis' apprentice.. I mean the mental gymnastics from AND about the character is WILD... The actor can obviously act (as seen from episode 5 and forward) but his character is shite...
Those lightsaber crystals are a good idea for the next republic to police their force users. All are forced to wear a lightsaber at all times, and based on the colour it has, police forces can step in just in time. Or think about your daily life conversations with your colleagues or partner - just look at the colour of their lightsabre and act accordingly; maybe its a bad time to bring up a problem or so.
Last show I watched was Mandalorian season 3. (only saw episode 1) I didn't see Book of Boba Fett, only heard it in between. While watching that first episode, I remember Greef Karga saying: "I thought we were done, what are we doing here?" I said: well if he doesn't know, why should I care to continue? XD
I really wanted to like this show when it was announced, but omg this was terrible. To much wrong to point out, but I cant believe neither one of them touched on the little creature sabotaging the ship and pulling out the wires for "reasons".
I reactivated my Disney+ subscription just so I could see what the hate was all about. I thought it started strong, but then it veered into a mystery story about Osha/Mae's childhood, when the real mystery should have been about Qimir's agenda. Now that we know the show won't get a 2nd season, some are disappointed that we won't get to seewhat comes of the appearance of Darth Plagueis. I feel confident though that that was just bait. Remember that it costs them big money whenever they use any of George Lucas' original characters. Hard to imagine we would have gotten a full season of Plagueis.

the fighting was the best part of this show.. and as a stuntman... the fighting usually made no sense.. you dont try to hit blades.. you try to hi the person. you dont try to hit where someone was.. you hit where they are. they always have such goddamn stiff wrists in Star Wars too.. its dumb lol.. like just turn your wrist and you killed them... or disengage the saber for like half a second and attack... actually fight instead of DND combat.. my turn.. oh i rolled a 4 your turn
Lol!! Those are the frustrating parts of lightsaber battles. There were only a couple of moments I felt Qimir was actually trying to attack and harm his opponent. Otherwise, it's just flashy sword play with no real intention of hurting the other party. The flashiness of the fighting is what made this season partly bearable. Not by much though.
the "bleeding" of khyber crystals and turning them into 'mood rings' was just... dumb... I miss the old way with cystals and gems affecting the color and sith sabers using synthetic ones to make them deep red.
“Since the phantom menace”… did you mean Revenge of the Sith? Edit: Honestly, I think the whole “Hyperspace nausea” thing was the only neat touch in the entire show. Edit 2: It… it physically hurts to hear you say that the lightsaber battles were good…
Nope, didn't misspeak at all, lol! Phantom Menace, Empire and Return have the best lightsaber battles. I felt nothing emotionally for the one in Revenge of the Sith until the end, lol.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Feeling something emotionally or not doesn’t have any bearing on the technical skill, practice, and just incredible choreography they had in the prequels 🤣
They skipped the part where they only sent a jedi and a padawan to arrest a person who is powerful and skilled enough to kill a jedi master. It's like sending a soldier in training and a trained soldier to arrest a member of special forces.
I agree 100% with your sentiments and opinions on the show. not good at all, had so much potential. a lot of wasted time on boring plots. and the saber crystal thing doesn’t even make sense before for that to even happen the way it did, Sol’d saber had to crack when it was thrown against a piece of debris which is almost the most ridiculous thing to happen in this show. lightsabers are not that fragile, there have been many sabers to fall a great height and be recovered just fine. how did his crack so significantly from that weak impact? and then for the crystal to fall loose and slip out the crack, yet the saber still somehow works normally? absolutely contrived writing the whole show
The fact this guy said recent SW has better lightsaber duels than revenge of the sith is all i needed to hear. Who decided that lightsabers weren't lethal and recovering from getting stabbed was "super easy, barely an inconvenience" cuz it wasn't Lucas. Yes phantom menace has one of if not the greatest duels between obi-wan and maul (they had to overclock the camera so they could slow down the footage enough for us to see wth was going on) but anny v dooku? Vader v obi-wan? Freaking yoda v dooku? Mace v palps? Come on man
A fictional setting needs to have internal consistency to be believable. Saying "Lore doesn't matter, who cares" is both arrogance and an excuse for lazy writing.
heard about the concept for the show and almost got excited for it, saw the first teaser and immediatly went oe this teaser sounds phoned in as hell.....better adjust expectations accordingly...and that seems to have been the right thing to do :( if they can pump out some neat visuals but the audio lacks any and all emotion that is a warning sign >.

Oooooo wow, Honest Trailers dropping the ball hard with that one, wtf is with making it political and trying to brush off legetemite criticism of the show; that's what the premise of Honest Trailers was supposed to be right? Being Honest about shows and films?
Ryan killed it though, it's up there with the Velma Pitch Meeting.
I love that he's not cruel, all he had to do was descibe the actual show and it just tells on itself.
Honest Trailers included that tweet from JD Vance to show that over the top criticism of Star Wars and other SFF media has been a right wing project for a long time. If that doesn't wake you up, Critical Drinker and Gary from Nerdrotic appearing on conservative media opinion platforms probably should.
@@hoos3014 lol what does The Drinker and Nerd appearing on “conservative shows” have to do with anything? They’ve been on Piers Morgan which isn’t a conservative show. Has there been any invites to liberal shows?
@@hoos3014 sure thing buddy, because it's not like I or anyone else can watch this stuff and make up our own minds based on our own ability to critique media, it HAS to be political. Lol.

Literally both point out and made fun of the fact that everyone is pretty much over the Star Wars franchise by now, and I love it. 😅
Honest Trailers has become so predictable: whenever they don’t want to ‘offend’ a show they like they make the critiques political to circumvent any real critique. It’s sad how they started so well years ago and how much they’ve regressed.
They might have gotten side funding donations to back off on certain things. Who knows.
@@PolitikPolitik-fh2qcI don’t think that’s what it is
Its not because they like the show, but they want to appeal to a broader audience, which includes the Star Wars content consumers.
@zztopz7090 by alienating 40% or more of the people who watch star wars?
Since Phantom Menace? Your telling me the Obi-Wan V Anakin fight on Mustafar wasn’t epic? Or any of the clone wars show lightsaber fights? Damn bro.
The show managed to make lesbian space witches completely unappealing to the 18 to 52 male demographic. No small feat.
Lesbian space witches sound terrible, both lesbians and witches are not associated with being attractive. It feels like you’d be doubling up the ugly.
Damn lmao 😂
6:26 not them disregarding all the animated shows (many of them are quite good imo, better than the live-action stuff anyway)
15:20 George said that line in an interview once.
Your laugh is contagious.
Loved that Pitch meeting.
It was garbage writing.)
"Well, Gumshoes..." comes from 90's Carmen San Diego gameshow. One of my favorite 90's gameshow. The opening song was great! 👌🏾
All I remember from that note is the main hook of the intro song
@OnMyMindEntertainment "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?"...."She goes from Nashville to Norway, Miami, Zimbabwe, Chicago to Czechoslovakia and back!"
Such a bouncy song. The acapella group was fire! 🤣
Oh geez.. its official, Honest Trailers is woke now, i think he isn't just playing it safe. He clearly supporting it.. sigh.

@@fr57ujf Glad you enjoyed it with me!! 😀
They're actually the bad guys."
"You know that thing that made Anakin so important and unique that there was a prophecy about him? Yeah, our characters did that too. Twice even."
"You know the Sith that made Anakin? He actually stole the idea from our characters."
Also things they would say: "What do you mean Ki Adi Mundi won't be born for several more decades?"
"What do you mean bleeding a kyber crystal red is a long physically and mentally intensive process?"
"What the hell is the Rule of Two?"
The Acolyte felt like a cash grab?
Well it failed spectacularly at that too.

Oh I agree with you that most of the lightsaber duels are simply flashy choreography, but it was exciting. We haven't had that in a long time.
Pitch Meeting blew away Honest Trailers in this one ...

The actor can obviously act (as seen from episode 5 and forward) but his character is shite...
honest trailers needs to cut politics
Those lightsaber crystals are a good idea for the next republic to police their force users. All are forced to wear a lightsaber at all times, and based on the colour it has, police forces can step in just in time. Or think about your daily life conversations with your colleagues or partner - just look at the colour of their lightsabre and act accordingly; maybe its a bad time to bring up a problem or so.

Honest trailers didn't have anything nice to say about the show so they turned it into a political rant to fill up the runtime.
the fighting was the best part of this show.. and as a stuntman... the fighting usually made no sense.. you dont try to hit blades.. you try to hi the person. you dont try to hit where someone was.. you hit where they are. they always have such goddamn stiff wrists in Star Wars too.. its dumb lol.. like just turn your wrist and you killed them... or disengage the saber for like half a second and attack... actually fight instead of DND combat.. my turn.. oh i rolled a 4 your turn

I think we all wanted the show to be good
I agree 100% with your sentiments and opinions on the show. not good at all, had so much potential. a lot of wasted time on boring plots.
and the saber crystal thing doesn’t even make sense before for that to even happen the way it did, Sol’d saber had to crack when it was thrown against a piece of debris which is almost the most ridiculous thing to happen in this show. lightsabers are not that fragile, there have been many sabers to fall a great height and be recovered just fine. how did his crack so significantly from that weak impact? and then for the crystal to fall loose and slip out the crack, yet the saber still somehow works normally? absolutely contrived writing the whole show
The fact this guy said recent SW has better lightsaber duels than revenge of the sith is all i needed to hear. Come on man
